I don't wanne open up a separate thread for my query... since it is indirectly related to engine oils. Hence i'm posting here...

I am currently using Petronas Sprinta-4000 in my Unicorn...

The performance and the smoothness of the bike is present... however my engine heats up tooo much (I can feel the heat of the engine on my feet while riding)

Is this normal?? Coz my friends Pulsar 150 which has a much more aggressive engine does not heat up that much...

    If I switch from the Petronas Sprinta 4000 (10W40) to Motul's V5100 (15W50) - will that make a difference??

I have heard it is not advisile to put 15W50 grade in a Unicorn... Why is that so?? Is it harmful for the engine??

Is there a better oil or any other method to keep my engine cooler??
i would suggest not to go for motul.its too thick.used it myself.the bike never crossed 100

Isnt that transmission oil? The manual says so. 2T oil capacity is 1.3L. I think I am confused.

Autolube/Sideoil (in mechanic lingo) is what lubricates the engine, doesnt it? Please correct me if I am wrong.

I use Yamalube. Any better oil that can be used? Motul 8000 (or whatever that number is) is good? Any precaution to be taken before adding it?

can't comment on the "best" stuff but you can try the Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W40 or Elf Moto4Gold among the better ones... both are available pretty well in Hyderabad.

Why dont you use Sae 90 oil for lubing chain .It very cheap at 100/litre and is quite good at sticking to all types of chains.

Else you can look at the Chain Sprays from Motul and Oks [cost around 300-400]

regular oils especially in this summer change at 2K - 2.5K Kms based on how good you feel the ride quality is. the Gulf oil mentioned earlier can sustain for much longer distances but costs the same as other mineral oils... use it and see how long you can use it without roughness in the engine.
