@ShahriarXtreme & SandeepCF, you changed 10w30 what ? The original HH oil or something else ? Like you I am also testing out 20w40 (yamalube) in my 2500kms old HeroHonda splendor+ engine , so I'd love to know your experience ...Originally posted by ShahriarXtreme View Posti agree with you 100%. once i used gulf 20W40 felt smooth but didnt rev freely so after running it for 300kms i changed it to 10W30 & yes as you said it was an immediate change.revs freely and also engine note remains grunty. .....
thanks buddy for your reply
I declined the HH oil during 2nd service , and changed the oil myself to 20w40 yamalube SL . My engine is indeed quieter cooler and smoother feeling but I am also feeling a bit lack of freely revving as with the earlier HH oil . Also I am seeing a significant drop in fuel efficiency ( 65 to 58 now) . The bike also felt mis-tuned from service .. which may explain the drop in petrol mileage . To be sure I visited the SS again today and had them re-tune the engine air-intake and Idle RPM . Keeping a watch now on everything and hoping I haven't caused any permanent harm with change in the oil grade
. Problem is also that I haven't had time to ride the bike on longish rides since the change and service .
Anyone has specific feedback on the HH 10w30 SJ oil vs Gulf Pride 4t Plus 10w30 SL oils ?

bro i used 10W30 caltex havoline oil coz nothing else was available in Bangladesh in this grade. while using 20W40 gulf pride i felt smoothness and less vibration but the grunty exhaust note was gone, didnt rev freely as it used to be and getting to 100kmph was slower. now i shifted to castrol power 1 10W30 ( recently available in BD) it feels great, engine has become little rough i mean only a little but pick up is great.Originally posted by Pinaki View Post@ShahriarXtreme & SandeepCF, you changed 10w30 what ? Thanks Shahriar'Bhai , I plan to do just what you & Sandeep'jee suggested ,Originally posted by ShahriarXtreme View Postbro i used 10W30 caltex havoline oil coz nothing else was available in Bangladesh in this grade. while using 20W40 gulf pride i felt smoothness and less vibration but the grunty exhaust note was gone, didnt rev freely as it used to be and getting to 100kmph was slower. now i shifted to castrol power 1 10W30 ( recently available in BD) it feels great, engine has become little rough i mean only a little but pick up is great.

now the choice is between gulf pride 10w30 and the standard HH oil . However I shall run down this 20w40 yamalube for 2500Kms , no harm in doing that , nahi ? It's too smooooth , specially after the bike is run for a while and warmed up .

as far as engine oil is concerned everyone will suggest you to go for the gulf.many people are using 20w40 oil where they are supposed to use 10w30 & reported their bike to be healthy.an interesting fact is that in Bangladesh almost 95% hh bikes are running either with 20w40 or 20w50 & i've seen many cbzx owner running over 50000km using only the 20w40 grade oil.so i guess you can run yamalube for sometime but drain it sooner to be on the safer side & from the next time use gulf 10w30.
I live in Dhaka.happy to meet you :-)

please use the recommended grade by the manufacturer. why 10w30 is recommended because that is what the ideal grade for a low capacity engine like that of a splendor. 20w40 is a heavy oil for your splendor and that is why you see the drop in mileage and that is also why the engine is smoother. no you will not cause any harm to the engine if you use a 20w40 instead of a 10w30. it is just that you'll have less power, less mileage and a more smooth running engine.Originally posted by Pinaki View Post@ShahriarXtreme & SandeepCF, you changed 10w30 what ?
