if it is xx-W40 then get that, not xx-W50

(note: the value of xx can be 0, 5, 15, 20, it doesn't matter, but the W40 or W50 part has to be strictly in accordance with the manual.)
The gear shift had become very notchy with my 2000 Km old Honda 20W40 engine oil and after switching to Motul 15W50 it seems to have returned back to normal. The gear shift is precise and smooth again.

Also, I am not experiencing any other problems related to pickup or heating with the 15W50 oil with my Honda Stunner. The oil seems to suit the bike well.

    Comments?
Signals which are timed for 50 Kmph are also timed for 100 Kmph :)

Did a servicing @ PBK and when i checked the bill, seemed they have used 20w40w on the bike.Is it so for p200?

Any one please provide correct info..

      Thanks..
Yes, the P200 and P220 use 20W50, as also the P180 I think. At least my classic 2002 P180 did. It's only the P150 and below which uses 20W40.

      • Does anyone have any experience with OWS Engine Oils from Germany?
        OWS

and also is it so bad to use FS oil once and then come back to SS?

ows is a relatively new brand. check a few pages back. there is only 2 or 3 posts about this oil.

there is no problem to switch to ss or even mineral after using an fs oil. the problem is, you wont like it

          • What is the correct way of checking the engine oil level of the bike(Karizma in my case)?

should the engine be cold or hot?

Wait for 5 mins after switching off a warm engine.

i serviced my zma 15 days back and has done 350 KM since then.

i checked the engine oil level when engine was cold i.e idle for 3-4 days(the bike was on side stand), the level was just near the low level of dip stick.

and today i starterd the bike and idle it for 5 minutes then checked the oil level, then it was just above the low point(the level has increased a bit)

Tomorrow when i will ride the bike to office (40 KM) then i will check what's the level.

In the meantime can anyone tell me is it normal or the SVC guys again have filled less oil?

Keep the bike in upright (90 Degrees) position (but not on center stand) and check the oil level

in my bike if its on side stand the oil level would be nill on the window but i just filled 1 ltr thats why telling side stand is not the right way to check oil level

am not recommending center stand because on center stand to bike would be either tilted towards front or back wheel due to its own weight balancing

while driving oil is circulating inside engine thus at the time it may show very low level or nill oil level in window

around 3 or 5 minutes after stopping the bike will be good enough to see the settled down oil level thru the window

                      • Guys, is the Bajaj DTSi oil which does 10,000kms (claimed) recommended for my Pulsar 180 ug3?

I saw the advert in the bajaj svc, and I was a bit suspicious, so can anyone let me know if they tried it?
Should I get it installed on a bike with a K&N filter? I don't redline too much...

It is claimed to be fine for 10,000 kms but almost all the bikers who use the oil change it within 2500-3000 kms for better engine life. Some of the bikers like me don't even use it for 2000 kms
