Apache RTR 160

I have recently ordered Joel's big bore kit and FFE for my RTR 160(http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/pit-stop...rformance.html)
I picked up a can each (Total Rs.990/-) of
1.Motul 3000 4T Plus 20W40 (Mineral oil(?))
2.Motul 300V 10W40 Factory Line double ester

After installing the bore kit ,is it okay if I put in the 1st can for the first 1000 kms -running in period.Drain at 1000 kms and put in the FS?

buddy can you tell me where in secunderabad did you find motul. Iam not getting it anywhere

Guys my 15 has done ~6K kms, is it OK if I change to Motul 5100 SS now ? and to 300V FS by 10K kms ?

I picked it up at Ratiwal Automobiles(3-5-6,Ramkoti)-This is near Kamal Automobiles,a small tyre shop with a Sardarji proprietor who stocks Michelins.
Timings -10 am to 830 pm
Phone - 24750899/24750718

Seemed to be a Motul Distributor as they stocked only Motul.However,there were shops around which stocked every brand that exists!

thanks yaar. ya i wanted motul. i searched whole secunderabad and couldn't find oil except castrol and shell. will go to ramkoti and get it.

Please check your engine oil level every 300 to 400 Kms in to the trip..do not allow the level to drop below the low mark level..Carry a liter of the engine oil as spare and top it up, as and when necessary..Do not ignore to check oil level every 300 to 400 Kms....on main stand, and after 5 minutes of stopping engine.

That too was one of my main worries. With the number of people complaining about non-mineral oil just disappearing from the engine!

But i've had the oil for about 500kms now.. No leakages.. I guess i'll do a short 140km trip and go 90+ all the way to see if there's any leakages.

Yes you are right Synths and Pulsars do not seem to go well to-gether. Many had reported oil consumed at a faster rate than normal..same case with RTR....But complaints arise mostly on sustained high speed runs and not under sane riding...Since you are taking up a long journey, better to be safe than be sorry....Just my thought.

Change oil

Just a noob question....do you all change the engine oil in front of you when taking the delivery or change it once u have given the bike for servicing!!!! the mech out here is a dealer of motul but i always have this weird thought which says he has put the cheap one to make more money!!!!!

I personally make it a point to be present while the servicing is being.
Not for one moment do i let the bike out of my sight.

All this just to make sure that they don't manhandle the bike in any way and also because i get to learn a few things every now and then.

If i can't spare 4-5 hours i don't get my bike serviced.

Till date, I have never let anyone change my bike engine oil. I do it myself. For my car, I get the oil and let mechanics change it in front of me.

I don't have confidence in mechanics to do a proper job without overseeing. Its not just about lack of trust. Its their work ethics. I have seen mechs changing oil, both on bike and cars, they are careless and dirty. For example, the funnel they use are so dirty. All the dirt in the funnel will ends up inside the engine. No way I am allowing that.

Is MAK 4T Plus 20W40 good for karizma?Saw a MAK showroom today,He recommended this for karizma.

AFAIK 20W40 is the HH recommended grade for Karizma so no problems there i guess.. Check the manual or google just to be sure..

I own a Pulsar 150 DTSi.
I would like to know after how many kilometers should we change the oil ?
Also mention the best oil for Pulsar?
Currently i use Castrol Active.
Somebody Xbhpians recommended me to use Motul 3000m plus or ELF moto 4 gold....

If you want your pulsar to be long lived,than maintain the drain interval(change the oil) in between 2000 and 2200kms.

Note some mineral oils only provide the smooth engine performance beyond 2000km(motul 30004t 20w40,gulf pride 20w40----self experience)

Change the oil every 2000-2500 kms since you're on Activ.

I've been using Motul 5100 for some time now... Gives good results.
