This is how I did it in My ZMA. Opened the drainage bolt, drained all the oil, fixed the drainage bolt, poured 100ml petrol in, kept it in idle for 2 mins, opened the drainage bolt and kept it open for 5-10 mins to let all the petrol evaporate, fixed the bolt, poured new oil in...Simple
oh man.. You used only 100ml petrol (without any oil) for flushing your engine.. That's scary, very very scary. Wont do that man, engine can get damaged

Donno its the right way or not !!!
It's absolutely safe to switch from mineral to synthetic. No need to flush the engine oil, alteast for bikes. The concept of flushing is predominantly for cars. Some do clean with help of diesel. I would not do that because, the inner oil seal might get damaged if the flushing solution is strong (i mean additives).

I poured enough petrol to clean it well, may b half a litre. I was thinking something else while posting.
        Edited now!!!

        @Sriram:

What damage might happen if we flush the engine with petrol ??? I cant think of anything!!!

you flushed your engine with fuel (petrol) without any lubricant (engine oil).
Its like running a engine without any engine oil.
Engine can get severely damaged. And will damage with prolonged use of this method.

@sriram: I'm shifting from semi-synth to mineral NOT the opposite..
And i think flushing is waste of money and time, just a marketing hype same like after market additives..

So you mean while running it on idle with only fuel in the engine, there will be no lubricants for the engine parts. Hence the friction will damage the engine internals ???
I was sceptical about this method and did it just once while changing from mineral to FS!!!

P.S.: When I changed back to mineral from FS, I didnt do any flushing and I don't think it is needed.

Buddy petrol is really not advised for flushing at all.Petrol can catch fire anytime if there's a spark in the engine or so.You can use diesel it is 100% safe and recommended.Pour 1L diesel after draining old oil and idle for 2mins on main stand, do not ride ur bike!!

                Cheers!!

Well, I am about to change my gladiator bike's engine oil from Castrol GTX to AGIP Racing 4T 5W40 Fully Synthetic oil. Now dont tell me again that Castrol GTX is for cars. I know that its for Cars and only came to know abt this a couple of weeks back here in this very same forum. Thats the reason I am about to change my bike's engine oil. My question regarding changing engine oils is that -
Is it really necesarry to flush the engine with diesel or anything thats suitable before pouring in new oil?

Also earlier as i was using Castrol GTX which is for Cars , it had spoilt the clutch plates of the bike. 3 months back during the last service, I had bought all the parts related to the clutch mechanism. One was 'pressure plate' and there were 2 other types(brass coloured and silver coloured) of plates with each plates set containing 5 plates. My mechanic told me that only the pressure plate was spoilt and the rest of the plates were good and adviced me not to change them as the ones on the bike are of better quality than the after market ones though they were bought from Yamaha Service dealer. Please advice whether i should change the other clutch parts when i change the engine oil.

                  Thanks,
                  emzee.

Diesel should only be used to flush when u feel ur engine is overheating frequently on short trips, less pickup, less average and loads of sludge in ur crankcase.I advice you to change ur whole clutch assembly.Dont risk anythin at this time.

                    P.S :

From where did u get AGIP Racing?? Where are u located dude??

I am located in Chennai. I got it from a shop called "Kamadhanu Auto Works" which is located at "Old Mahabalipuram Road, Chennai".

I see that you are located in Mumbai. if you are unable to find a dealer for AGIP oils in Mumbai, then i recommend you to call up "APAR Industries" mumbai branch and get the details of the dealers from them. APAR Industries are the distributors who are in partnership with Chematek Italy to sell AGIP oils in India. You can visit: www.aparchematek.com and get the Mumbai branch number. They'll help you in finding the dealers in Mumbai. Even they'll tell you if that particular dealer has stock or not though you'll have to tell them to check and confirm. Thats what i did. Hope this helps.

                      Thanks,

get your whole clutch assembly changed bro. and while this process tell you mechanic to clean your oil sump and oil screener and change your oil filter (if equipped), before putting in new FS oil. No need of engine flush, because you are getting your engine opened.

what's your bike's odo reading? Asking this 'cause its not recommended to use anything other than mineral oil till 4k k.m.
So, one of the best mineral oil is motul 3000 4t plus (SAE 15W50).
Best semi-synth oil is motul 5100.
And dont switch to full synthetic oil.. Pulsar's having oil drinking problem with them..
Btw, what's your budget? And change your oil at correct interval which depends upon the oil type and riding habit..
