Yes, I have always used 20w40 in ZMA, except a fewer occasions. In that case, will the w50 more safer?

Then, its really strange Honda/HH choose to use w30 oil.

      not at all!
Always use manufacturer specified oils.. If its 10w30, 20w40, 20w50.
Manufacturers gives recommendation as per clearances and nothing else.. There is only a marginal increase in efficiency when you use w30 in place of w40.. Its just 1 or max 2%. i.e max 1 km/ l.
pulsar went back from 20w40 to 20w50.. Not coz it cant make 20w40 but pulsar cant take lighter grades. If we get huge mileage benefits then 10w30 wil give a pulsar some 60k\l.. But it doesnt happen like this.. Has anyone used a 10w30 and 10w40 grade and compared mileage? It wont be more by 1 km/ l.
Honda has started making engines with very fine clearances hence they give the lightest of oils.. Not for fuel efficiency.
Manufacturers know there products the best.. If the oil gets thinner than the clearnces there will be a decrease in oil content.. Has anyone faced decreasing oil content on a fairly young engine using 10w30?? Or its just the grade that surprise us?
I would say until we find a guy who lost oil after using 10w30 grade in a honda, lets take some rest from this discussion.

I am unable to find motul 20w-40 here in hosur. so can i use Yamalube 20w-40 as this oil is from motul.
Yes RNR'jee , that is exactly what I would do myself if I can't find motul 30004T+ here . That yamalube 20w40 is a very good mineral oil , always available genuine at your nearest yamaha authorised service (parts counter) .

Yes Pinakiji, but Yamalube is also being manufactured by Savita Chemicals now and is available in blue colored bottle.. RNR, buy the black bottle.. thats made by Motul.. Very difficult to source at many Yamaha SVC's now.

And Savita's - Didnt like the quality of the bottle.. forget about quality of the oil it may have contained!

I would not entirely agree to the fact that one oil with different label. Here we go.. Savita, Tide Water and few more have procured lisence/contract to manufacture oils of the well known brands in India. Though they come out with same mfg address mentioned on the bottle more than one brand, however, spefications might differ from each other.

can we have the manual pages please..
The right thing to do is.. Look at the dipstick/level indicator.. The oil levels should be neither high (over the max level) or low.. They should be towards the max level to account for any loss while riding. Calculate the amount went in and be ready with that amount on the next change :-)

regarding savita oils.. I havnt tried them and not planning to.. A visit to the fz thread will tell one more about the quality of the oil.

i don't think it's the same formula. Quality is very much different. Motul made ones easily lasted 2k, this one very rough at the same km range. All they want is same grade, same JASO rating.

                    1. Anytime before 45-50k.
                    2. Ya, thats the best. Also try shell advance ultra. See the XXwXX rating of the oil mentioned in your manual.
                    3. Anywhere, just take the oil and the bike with you :-)

Hello thank you for the advice bro I was not worried about the levels i make sure its in the centre of the indicator.I was only wanting to know the right amount of oil .In the manual on one page it says 1litre and on the other page it says 900..I always have had problems with the extra ml because they use another brand of oil to add 100 0r 200 ml oil and i think it messes up with the original oil that i use..or does it not matter?

yes mixing oils is a big issue.. If they use same grade oil from same manufacturer then no issues.. 10w40 and 20w50 are different oils..
