      • helmet query!!

hey guys.. hmm i finally found a helmet of my size after a lot of search...sheesh but still its a bit loose...(sob) and i wanted to ask whether the chin strap closely fits to the chin or it just hangs down loosely??
my helmet doesnt fit closely on my cheeks but when i tie a hankerchief over my face then its ok but still not tight is that ok?? and when i go over a speed breaker or any pot holes the helmet moves a bit...argh....and do we get custom made helmet...as per a persons face dimensions....?it may sound silly but just wanna know...

Also, how do you guys order it online without being sure of your size? Are the sizing charts helpful in pinning the exact fit?
Yes dude.. size is very important.. u may refer this chart for an approximate size..

Dont even think about it.... buying stuff in China as a tourist is painful....

I remember a bargain for a Tag Heur replica... The salesman said 990 Yens and the person wanting to buy it said 20 Yens!!!!!

The deal was closed for 30 Yens!!!! Can you beat that!!!

Oh and for records the watch lasted good while it was in China, cause the friend who bought it realized that once he was back in India from Tag Heur it became Sholay ka Thaakur Both Hands were gone

              • My post from the rididng gear thread:

Do not know about the others, but BHP helmets pure thrash. I could make the two ends of one of their helmets meet while i was just pressing it with my arms, wonder what protection one of those offer besides the fancy graphics.

Prajwal, trust me, I and almost every other educated person would know the above. Infact may i mention i am reasonably well informed about the Chinese market.
But you already seem to be aware that Alpinestars, JR, Icon, Docmartin, Nokia, Sony and all of these companies purely have their manafacturing facilities in China, not their research & technology development centers, there is a clear difference in having the two.
All of these above well knowned brands, amongst the other famed send across a certain jobload which needs to be executed as per the guidelines of the holding company.

Besides the above way of business, there exist smaller firms in China, who are the world's best at exceuting replicas of models given to them. The production pattern of these replicas need not follow the guidelines and production standards involved in manafacturing the original product.
This is exactly what i was trying to say, DSG in this case could have picked up a good mfr from China, or any other south eastern, or even India company to replicate the Marushin helmets which now they brand as Dajya.

Disclaimer: The above is just a product of my thought process, and is not based on any discovered facts.

                • From your previous, your helmet seems to be quite loose, see if you can get a size of thicker cheek pads. How much do you intend spending for a lid, some costly ARAI lids are almost a custom fit.

Take a measuring tape, and measure the circumference of your head keeping the tape just above your eyebrows, different mfrs have slightly carying charts.

This is just to give u an idea but dont zero in the size yet.. there wd be a lil diff in size for various helmet manufacturers... i now wear a 55-56 cms (S size) helmet which is just perfect for me... was really hard to find it as most shops only have large sized ones and argue stating that this is the normal n free size.... XS wd be kinda too tight i guess if u dont have a really small head.. i guess S wd be perfect... do try the various sized before getting one..

I read about this in the newspaper, about fineing riders whose helmets are not ISI Certified. So, do they fine you if you're wearing an orignal Arai or Shoei? Or for that matter any proper helmet with no ISI but instead DOT, SNELL and/or ECE Certification
