Yes I also felt the same with SMK. I have SOL Unicorn II also for daily commute. SOL is heavy but being 6'4'' I never felt it heavy after wearing.
for now SMKs LS2 VEGA STUDDS AXOR are on my black list for quality issues.

my friend owns AXOR's carbon fiber helmet which comes at 11k. Apart from being light weight (which is good) the material quality and the plastic is used looks cheap and of bad quality. one or two normal city ride and paint on air vents started coming off! Pathetic quality.

I'm also looking for Scorpion OR HJC for my next.

don't ignore HJC helmets man.. the fit and finish is really good in HJC.
Also SOL edge helmet is lil bulkier than HJC but they are ultra durable. and comfortable.

Have to agree the padding and spare prices of SMK as well as Studds are very low, easily available.
Mine gets washed every Saturday/Sunday since the weekly usage gets to 750-1000 kms.

I have been regularly using rhyno since 2014 the padding is still like new but the main issue is with the availability of visor and its cost, the visor cost 300 rs(helmet 1300) got a new visor 2 months back but today it gave up so this time decided to spend on new helmet.

Paid 1400rs for Thunder d3 mrp is 1695.
It will be my helmet for regular city commute, i have smk for Highway.
Got a warranty card but no bill as i bargained hard.

Tried vega and steelbird too but compared to studds their padding is very thin and lacking.

Size is 580mm which is L and surprisingly it is fairly snug on my smaller size head due to good padding. Cheek pads are very snug.
    My smk is size s.

    Now some features.

Weight is 1350gm feels very light.
All padding is easily removable .
Two air vents on top,one big vent on the chin.
    exhaust vent on the back.
    Quick release visor.
    Quick release locking buckle.

It comes with a Chrome visor but i got it swapped with regular tinted one.

Overall a very good helmet. A vfm and good companion to my smk.

Hi guys as we all are quite aware about the new BIS norm which is unfair for those who have been using helmets that are being homologated to better standards. I have mentioned below a link to blog, which explain why the new BIS norm is unfair and what needs to be done.

Please take a few minutes and go through the blog. In the end it also mentions a letter which needs to be written to the Joint Secratary of the Transport department. All you guys need to do is just copy paste the draft and send it to the Joint secretary (Email is mentioned).

Link- A Time To Ride: The ISI Helmet Stories

Please take a few minutes and it could possible save thousands of lives in the years to come. Our protection should be in our hands and no lobby of manufacturers should dictate what we need to wear to protect our head.
