This is not a which helmet question, but this is a question regarding the RE helmets.
When i was browsing their online apparel store, I thought of looking at their helmet collection out of curiosity and glanced on the descriptions of the helmet. In the description some of the helmets had ABS Shell but helmets which cost over 3000/- have a fiberglass shell which is better than ABS and Polycarbonate. My question is, is it true that these are Fibreglass helmets? I have an idea an of helmets but i was baffled when i saw that some RE helmets have fibreglass shells.

Polycarbonate is stronger, more flexible and has higher tensile stenght, etc, etc compared to abs. Polycarbonate and abs both are thermoplastics, both have similar properties but polycarbonate is better which justifies its cost.
I think Carbon fiber, Kevlar or any ballistic material is not under consideration, otherwise options are unlimited just for the sake of argument.

Why are you wasting money on smk, it's abs plastic, better would be to wait and increase your budget and then get Mt or some other good brand.

If budget is actually an issue then get studds for the time being and get good one later on. (btw you'll be disappointed hugely)

I guess thermoplastic the polycarbonate are at same level. Both brands have multi density inner eps. Better Stuff is carbon fiber. And mt carbon fiber starts at 19k.
Smk provides good protection and same does mt. Safety certificate is also same ece and ece is better than dot. Plus with Mt is the sharp rating.

I might go with the SMK Twister then. I simply cannot afford to change another helmet for the next 7 years in case of shortage of spares. Maybe I can afford MT helmets in 2028

Try and see the fit , mugello again doesn't have inner sun visor that's why picked up smk twister. But mugello is slightly more quieter than smk.
Thing with smk is that , studds is making these so parts like cheek pads and visor are available easily here. These are are things i considered while making my purchase.

Thanks a lot for your inputs. Will definitely get the clear visor only.

Regarding Stellar if it does not have the sun down visor will not get it then.

Since Pinlock 70 costs 1600 more this is my final shortlist

1. MT Mugello

2. SMK Twister

Try and see the fit , mugello again doesn't have inner sun visor that's why picked up smk twister. But mugello is slightly more quieter than smk.
Thing with smk is that , studds is making these so parts like cheek pads and visor are available easily here. These are are things i considered while making my purchase.

Both are good choose as per you pocket. Pinlock you can wait till the requirement for antifog is there but point to note here is that these support the pinlock 70 max vision which cost around 1500 or little more in market . Pinlock 70 provides fog protection for the full visor.

Should we buy the antifog inserts separate? What would be the cost of the same?

I have shortlisted the following

MT Stinger Bogor
MT Mugello

Smk twister suits your needs it has entery level pinlock 30 sheet for antifog. Visor is scratch resistance. Best thing is parts are available easily. Another one is new axor apex with f180 antifog sheet(bit noisy)
Smk retails at 4300/-for graphics one matt plain version is priced lower.
Do give these two a try and make sure the one you choose is snug fit on your head.

And if you can stretch the budget then look for something from MT , MT is bit more quiet than smk and axor.

I am using smk twister and have no complaints.

Good but keep in mind stellar doesn't come with inner drop down sun visor which is present in twister.
And what ever u buy do not ever buy chrome visor stick with clear visor only.

Congrats on your helmet. I own an Avenger 220 cruise and having a Studds Ninja 3G model. Its around 5 years old and I want to purchase a new helmet so that I can get used to it before my Leh trip in 2021.

My budget is around 4k and I saw the Shiro 821 model which is good but I still need suggestions from experts. Kindly do give your opinion.

I don't mind having dual visors. I prefer the visors to be scratch resistant and if it has pinlock it would be a real boon. Will I get one in the 4k range? Please guide.
