        • Is a balaclava comfortable to wear? I mean does it give any suffocation feeling when worn under the helmet. I intend on buying one as the inner pads and lining of the helmet might get spoiled because of the sweat during the summer, and its easier to wash the balaclava. Any other suggestions besides using the balaclava?

We never know until we try it.

No feeling of suffocation at all, but have to warn you, once you start using it you'll never leave it.
            Alternative is a skull cap.

+1 I find them extremely useful during hot summer. Cannot do without them.

                Bajaj Pulsar 180 - dts i |
                Bajaj CT 100

Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight.

It was not that far on the map.

Have been using beanies (skull caps) for years and before they were available have been using bandannas ( and before that hand-kerchiefs! ) for almost 20 years. Started using balaclavas about a year ago and now never ride without 'em.

Your helmet will love you for it as it keeps your helmet fresh and clean even after long, dusty and hot rides. Look for one made with a lycra-coolmax combination material as it dries very quickly and can be washed every night on week-long trips and dry before your morning start. The cotton types are ok too but trust me on the coolmax blended fabric!

Oops! They are not very common but worth the effort to source. In Hyderabad try Adventure on the Rocks. In Chennai, they are available in Dollars & Pounds. Costs about 350-400 bucks. The cheaper cotton ones from Cramster are about 200/- I think.

this is what I was talking about
                            Balaclavas, Tactical Multifunctional Headwear

Its a simple cloth piece with military kind of print.. Trust me there is not lady like color on it..
And ya.. this one doesn't have any stitches on it.. so no marks or pressure point on the head when you use it..

See a demo on how to use it here

OMFG! tht is simply amazing. Going to surely buy this. Balaclavas can wait.
just one thing, if the buff is worn like a balaclava (full face mask) wouldnt it come off or get loose while wearing a helmet? i.e. while wearing a helmet, the padding near the chin rubs on the whole face
