Any veteran user of international quality helmets will tell you that a proper ECE or DOT specified helmet will have a certain heft due to the build quality required to withstand their stringent tests. This means that a standard helmet unless made of specialty materials like carbon-fibre will always weigh in between 1400 - 1800 grams. You will see that most helmets even by biggies like like Arai and Shoei are in this weight band. Only helmets made of specialty materials are lighter. The SOL 68s (marked in this list as the GMax 68s) is smack in the middle range of these certified helmets.

The question to ask therefore is if the big names all weigh in at 1400-1800 gms in order to pass the crash tests, how do the lighter helmet

yes man... it's quite cool & better than my Indian AGV. The Dual Visor thing is good since I have the option of not using the tinted one in night.

After 3 years of my trusty AGV, am on the lookout for a new helmet. Something that goes well with my duke though. Anyways, can someone guide me to a good store in Delhi/NCR, where I can try the helmets, befofr purchasing and can be sure of buying a genuine product.

Also what would be a good brand to look into, if looking into a price range below 10k. And a good helmet hard carry bag or something as well ( pricing on that as well ).

I'm not sure if you get SOL helmets there. If yes, would recommend to try once before taking a decision. After using MPA AGV for 2 long years, I moved to SOL and I vouch by the build quality and comforts at par with International brands. MPA AGV is still good and I use it occasionally. u can try sol helmets though i dont know if it will fit in the scooter underseat compartment . also check if person is ok with weight as too heavy helmet will put a bit strain on neck

Spoke to this guy from A H Helmets in Andheri-W, Bombay. (Listed on the SOL site as Authorized Reseller). Says that the AGV ones he has are priced at 14.5k but doesn't have stock of those at 8.5k.

Can bikers from Bombay temme where I could find AGV lids here? Till now I thought that the only options I had were KBC and Sparx in the 8k range as Bachoo Motors has barely any full-face helmets from RJays right now.( Airoh and all those big names are way above the 10k mark)

SOL has open faced and full faced helmets for women - both are listed on the site and they are much smaller shell sizes than regular men's helmets. Much lighter too.

Guys....Good news for Mumbai xBhpians. SOL Helmets now have 2 official dealers in Mumbai...Apart from A.H.Helmets, S.M.Studios in Mulund now has SOL Helmets & Gear on its shelves. The owner, Harmesh Majithia, is a friend of mine & a veteran biker...He usually stocks LS2's & Cross's in his shop, however I was quite surprised to find SOL lids at his place when I dropped by yesterday. Although he has not been listed on SOL's website as of now, he says that him, along with Mr.Hemant (A.H.Helmets) will be the official dealers for SOL helmets in Mumbai.

He has some 5-6 lids in stock, both full-face & dual type in sizes, ranging from L to XXL. These include the SF-1, SL-68Sll & SS-1 models. Check out the attached pics. Harmesh says he expects more stock to come in the next 2 weeks which would include the SL-68S Unicorn as well, along with SOL Jackets & other gear. The older models which had 2 vents on top, 2 on sides and 1 in front had DOT certification, whereas the later models with 2 vents have ECE sticker.

My LS2 red dragon was bought three months back. It has the 2 vents on top, 2 on sides and one in front. It has the Vega written just above the Visor. It neither has the DOT, ECE or ISI embossed or stickered anywhere. I wonder why.. Bought from a very respectable place in Chennai for 2.5 k bucks.

Recently I saw a LS2 Red dragon with a glossy finish mine is a matt finish. it has a decent build, a bit heavy (not sure of weight, ll check it soon). i had used a LS2 Dragon of my friend once with the DOT embossed. I feel the fit is the same. But his has a different kind of strap - on . It was bought from a helmet shop in marathahalli, bangalore.

If you ask me, had i known of SOL 3 months back I would have gone for SOL, given all these speculations surrounding LS2. But as of now, have to be happy with what I got and hope it serves the purpose
