That's why I meant keeping it in open air for a while. It's highly impossible for the padding to be wet on a new one. It smells because of the fresh paintjob and plastic chemicals, fabric in cheekpads so and so forth. So wise decision, a little, perfume and a little sun should do the trick.

    Cheers!

perfume should do the trick i guess n this season thesr no hard sunlight but i'll try

Yes, exactly. There is a difference between snug fit and too tight fit, and yes your helmet shouldn't dance when you're wearing it. But too tight, also has its own cons. 1. Number one, you feel so choked up 2. You get tired and nauseated easily due to the prolonged tight fit is what I experienced using a uber tight helmet. Of course all heads come in different shapes and sizes

My previous post was in goodwill for those who are new to helmet techniques and those with sizing issues.

          Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight.

Thing is that all charts point towards an S size according to my head circumference, but that would translate into a painfully tight fit (as I've got really thick hair ).
Hence for most of the lids I've tested I've felt M to be a snug, right fit. PRS also recommended tht when I tried their KBC n Sparx lids. But now if Airoh has this issue of proving to be a tad too tight only after a longish ride, how would I judge s I would be tryin the lid for only 5-10 mins before buying it?

I bought my first helmet though online store only, and I usually used to wear an L size, which fits me snugly and perfectly without choking or too tight fit. Did the same with the AIROH, but boy, it was way way way too tighter for me, and the biggest mistake I did. F@CK me for going by instincts

Now to your question of tight fit. Usually hair doesn't play that big of a part, but yes it plays an important role. I've had very long hair, enough to keep pony tail and that's when I bought this helmet and boy it was tighter as hell. Now shaved my hair to an extent and still don't feel comfortable with this helmet. Spent close to 40k on this helmet, but still pretty uselss for me if you ask me, so not using it and been in box for a while now

When you wear it for 5 to 10 min, check for pressure spots on cheeks, forehead etc. Because these are instant pointers as to what you'll be experiencing when you ride long coupled with exhaustion. Sit for a while with your helmet on, concentrate for a while how your head feels with the helmet on, turn your head, left right, up, down and see how it feels, too tight can cause discomfort easily and breathing difficulty too.

I hope this helps. Take your time, no one is gonna hurry you in shop. Wear it, make sure you do all the head turns up, down, left right, etc.

                  Cheers!
