                      • i wanted to ask a question!

what is the use of a half face helmet??i mean is our head and skull only important???is our face not important??
they say half face helmets are used on cruisers and stuff. but do cruisers fall in a more different way than pulsars and karizmas??will not the face be smacked and injured??

                        some help will be useful.

and i would like to hear one good reason for it beyond saying that its fashion and hawa chaiye chehre ke liye...in a full face helmet also you can keep the lid open and enjoy wind.so why a half face helmet?
                        there are no stupid questions.

                        but there are stupid people.

                        • @anvancy: The defnition of Streetbikes, cruisers and sportsbikes is traditionally based on the western concept of traffic descipline. Crusiers would normally be used on roads where traffic is sparse and which had the capacity to go on very long distances. The use of a full face helmet would be be overkill since accident would almost never happen unless the rider is really stupid. The sparseness is something u have to experience in person to understand. You wouldn't see another human on the road for miles! In many states in USA, there is no helmet rule at all. Highways in India are fraught with people, cattle, chickens, dogs, overspeeding Scorpios and Indicas, etc, which makes cruising on them very different from USA. Therefore, the suggestion that half-face helmets is better for cruisers, does not wholly apply in India.

On the otherhand, streetbikes are the easily flickable, light, low capacity motorcycles. Sportsbiking, well, we all know about it, dont we? Both cases recomend wearing a full face helmet.

                          Cheers!

well the thing is , foolishness is the least cared part here. a helmet is primarily supposed to protect your brain (aka skull) and not your face. so yes if the shell meets the standards ,the helmet is approved irrespective of whether its a full face or half face.

now, the thing here is , people here anyway dont care for their heads. forget the half face helmets, a helmet without proper fitting and securely strapped on is as good as no helmet, and this is the majority of the people wear helmets, irrespective of whether is half or full face, standardized or cheapass ones.

ladies (no personal attack) love to show their faces and find the full face ones very inconvenient. well well , again this is a topic to rant about

i completely agree with prajwal's post about the helmet rule in USA, but accidents can happen due to freak incidents too right ? what if the bike suddenly skids or the tyre blows out ? it can happen anytime.

and yes be it a cruiser or a streetbike or a commuter here, the chaos is so much that a helmet is a must. cant take chances even..
