Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Dude on fake stuff its just a sticker, on genuine stuff its an assured mark that it does what it says.

      There is.
I'd suggest you read the test procedure for each of these standards.

DOT is basically certified by the manufacturer itself.
Any minor changed to that model does't warrant a re-test.

ECE is usually done by an independent authority.
This is most widely recognized as the most up-to-date standard.
This has significantly more tests that even ensures that minimal force is transmitted to the user. Also any change in the design needs it to be tested again.

ISI again is just a mark or quality and compared to both DOT and ECE is pretty out dated.

Snell has the most stringent tests.

As I stated earlier this is not an ego contest.
You are free to believe as you wish.
However just read as I suggested and maybe you will agree with what I said.

      Peace.

Just thought I'd chip in with my two paise....

Most manufacturers certify their own helmets. The primary difference is in the way the testing is done. DOT helmets are tested at random after manufacture while ECE helmets are batch tested. Also, the ECE standard has certain provisos for chin-bar reinforcements, which is not mandated by DOT. Genuine ECE/DOT helmets have to undergo stringent penetration tests which will result in a thicker shell and therefore a certain weigh class. It is safe to say that genuine certified helmets will average between 1400 - 1800 gms for a full face helmet, unless made of special lightweight materials like carbon-fibre. Old timers will simply lift a helmet to tell you if it's genuine certified or not.

Another interesting thing for consumers is that DOT mandates certification which is integrated into the body of the helmet by lamination into the shell, while the ECE certification is allowed by the Kite Mark sticker and/or lamination. This makes it easier for the consumer to spot a fake, since genuine DOT helmets are manufactured off production lines dedicated for the certification process and the certification is laminated within the shell. Stickers at the end of the day are easily duplicated/printed. Hence if you see a helmet with a DOT sticker, rest assured its a fake!

SNELL ratings require a heavier shell for more impact resistance but many controversies surround the private testing nature of the SNELL Foundation and also the resulting heavy weight of a SNELL rated helmet.

Coming to the Indian market, since certification is not mandatory or monitored by the authorities, fakes abound. My earnest advice is that whatever brand you decide to buy, source only from the authorised distributor or dealer. Also beware of "sale offers" and the like because if it sounds too good to be true, it normally is !! You can identify the authorised distributor of any brand from the international website of the helmet brand you want and approach them or their listed dealers directly. Being armed with more information makes you less susceptible to being cheated!

I wouldn't go with any lid that does not have a rating or has rating in the form of a removable decale.
ls2 with isi???not anymore, the lids which have isi marks belonged to the batch when ls2 was distributed by vega, all latest ls2 range comes with only ece rating and sharp 4 star rating

Practically there are oodles of helmet brands out there, provided the moolah you can chuck out, you can get yourself a good helmet.

You have very good helmets in your price bracket. You can try a helmet called SOL, which is really a hot seller for the Duke range.

Spartan ProGear | Product or you can try PlanetDSG, www.planetdsg.com and you have all you need at your prices under one roof.

                Cheers!
