ya thats the problem with paint finishing quality of sol helmets, had visited A.H. helmets and he showed me sol and ls2,ls2 paint finishing quality was way superior when compared to ol helmets, but sol helmets are more funky looing and the inner coolmax padding is worth the buck, they should improve the paint quality thoughOriginally posted by Horror View Post

I wouldn't call it the paint quality because the paint quality seems to be really good, just the finishing, small details, which I state again can be over-looked, need to be taken into consideration before sending the helmet out of the factory. And one more thing that I noticed is that the DOT marking has been painted or embedded into the shell itself, no stickers or anything of that sort.Originally posted by lasky View Postya thats the problem with paint finishing quality of sol helmets, had visited A.H. helmets and he showed me sol and ls2,ls2 paint finishing quality was way superior when compared to ol helmets, but sol helmets are more funky looing and the inner coolmax padding is worth the buck, they should improve the paint quality thoughI would rather be riding my bike thinking of God, than sitting in the temple thinking of my bike.

Yeah, I know, I've heard of many LS2's having stickers instead of it being imprinted on the shell itself, so I was kind of in two minds between SOL and LS2, but with all the good reviews of the helmet I went for the SOL.Originally posted by krish2778 View PostThat's exactly how it should be.

Thanks dude!
There's neither location on the lid itself- no Made in..... sticker or lettering anywhereOriginally posted by Sunnyside_up! View PostA well written and frank review buddy - good job!
Just one question though, does your helmet have a specific 'Made in Italy' marking anywhere on it? I ask because I have seen one with Chinese labelling on it, and always assumed that they made their lower ranges in China and the more expensive ones in Italy.
Same markings here!Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostCripes! Tell me you're joking, sir. Baffled! You saw an AIROH with a "Made in China" tag, can you be precise of which model it was? Thanks!
Regariding Made in Italy tag, they even in mine, they haven't used Made in Italy, except for outer carton and the inner booklets. But you have E3 mark on the chin strap with a few numbers which designate where they are manufactured and to which standards they are approved.
Cheers!

The model I have is called Speed One, on of the most popular ones in the Speedfire series. The Pit One may be a Chinese knock-off you saw...Originally posted by Sunnyside_up! View Postit was called "Pit One" I think. And it was not a "made in " label but a sticker inside which had Chinese characters. I couldn't read it obviously but because of the lettering, I assumed it was made in China. Maybe the shell or something was made in China and the rest in Italy ?
the E3 classification simply means that the brand is EU registered. LS2's made in China have the Spain registration E9.
As said earlier, there are no Mandarin or Cantonese characters anywhere
Originally posted by Sunnyside_up! View PostI'm not in the habit of beating around the bush or playing to the grandstand. I definitely did see the marking inside a helmet but like I said, since I can't read Chinese lettering, I do not know what it said. Having said that, I did a little bit of research myself after your insinuation and came up with some interesting discoveries.

Looks like they do outsource after all doesn't it?
Just FYI - many EU companies source components in third world countries and assemble them in Europe to give it the made in EU tag. I remember my AlpineStars bionic knee guards coming in a box labelled "Made in the EU", while the inside label on the product itself said " Made in China".
Mind you, in no way am I saying the Chinese manufacturer is in any way inferior. In fact my experience tells me the opposite - that properly run factories in China manufacture to higher standards than the Europeans.
Looking beyond the fact that I find your tone condescending despite you not having your facts right, ( I've already clarified that I did NOT see a "Made in China" tag) perhaps you need to learn a little about global trade before you run off at the mouth and "ideate". The fact that a brand originates in one country does not mean that they will not outsource from another. Half the members of this forum work as outsourced talent for companies that are headquartered abroad. The same applies to products too. If you can get quality products made abroad at rates that are much lower than your own country, then why would you bother with making it in your own?
The thought that went through my mind at that time was that if Airoh can make and sell a helmet made in Italy for 8k when Sparx, KBC, HJC and everyone else who are much bigger companies can only do a Chinese made helmet at the same price, then Airoh knows something that the rest of the pack doesn't and hats off to them! Don't you think it's amazing?
On another note, why does your "made in Italy" helmet which has it labels on the box and booklets inside NOT have the label on the helmet? Was only the box and booklets made in Italy?
Frankly I don't know or care.
I am certain that Deville bought a quality product - the depth of his research and analysis before purchase reveals that he did his homework. I even commended his review as being well done. My only comment was one of mere curiosity since I had seen another helmet somewhere with Chinese markings and therefore asked the question.
Hope this clarifies your many confusions.
Largely agree with most of the points made. Though while purchasing, it comes down to reputation and perception. Put a Made in China alongwith a Made in Italy and almost everyone will pick the former, assuming boh look equally well-made.
When a leading brand like Airoh, one of the top hemlet makers prides itslef over its products being comepletely Italian, most of us trust them. I do wonder whet if only the shell ond the critical components are made in Ialy while something like the vents are outsourced to China- would it still be a Made in Italy helmet? .
Well, bigger scams have been pulled off by bigger companies, so If Airoh wants to, it can get away with almost anything....Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostPerhaps I didn't expect such a big answer for such a belittle question. Phew!
That said, coming to your point, definitely AIROH knows something. I appreciate that you've acknowledged Deville's helmet, honestly appreciate that.
All I wanted to say is, yes, I do reckon what Chinese manufacture, and the outsourcing, production house, trade related leverage etc etc. But I mentioned, if AIROH wanted their value to be up, they can manufacture it themselves. I mean, to your point back, "he thought that went through my mind at that time was that if Airoh can make and sell a helmet made in Italy for 8k when Sparx, KBC, HJC and everyone else who are much bigger companies can only do a Chinese made helmet at the same price, then Airoh knows something that the rest of the pack doesn't and hats off to them! Don't you think it's amazing" affirms that, you don't need outsourcing to bring quality stuffs to outsource.
But that said, hey, this is a world of trade, anything can happen anytime. It would be lame of me to talk about what's in AIROH's mind. Appreiciate your detailed explanation, thought it points the same outsourcing stuff all over.
Cheers!

I've been a DieHard fan of those helmets with cuts & edge, like those of Off-Road.
I have 2 of them.
I hate those round shape helmets
Specially those like Studds-Ninja shape.
Now need a new, its been almost 1.2 year done with old helmets.
My budget is very low between 2.5k to 3k. (Excuse :/)
After visiting some of the older pages of this thread I like
LS2 FF351
LS2 FF358
But I don't find some special difference between them, is there any ?
And I need something in MattBlack with a Black or Chrome type Visor.
As I'm thinking of using my Old helmet for Night rides with clear Visor.First I was Scared But then We Made a Deal

hello everyone
After reading a lot about safety I am planning on replacing my old ozone helmet and buying a new helmet. My budget is around 5k and I am looking for some good quality helmet that would blend in with my black zmr. They are not much stores in Hyderabad who stock up a decent line of helmets. Checked adventure on rocks but didn't satisfy. Could you guys help locating stores where can I head for the riding gear. I would like to check out in person so no online orders. I would appreciate any help from you guys.

Re: Helmets
Finally bought my new lid n gloves.
LS2 phobia - paid 2k.
Ride review:
Did a 150km ride with this on. Beautiful helmet. Stable. Cuts all noise out. Slight wind noise does seep through the helmet. Head was cool through the entire ride. The padding inside the helmet is also very good.
Cross racing gloves- paid 700 bucks.
Ride review:
I wore these on the same ride. They're full textile gloves. I feel I was ripped off. Though the performance is better than the pro biker I used to own, it doesn't feel worth the 700 I paid. Comfortable, well ventilated, doesn't restrict finger movement and doesn't slip. They're a better fit compared to the pro biker. Hands don't feel disoriented at all. Overall an ok pair.
