The power of your set of wheels cannot be a parameter to decide the strength of the helmet one would need. What if someone riding a bullet doing 90 kmph crashes into a car coming headon say at 150 kmph?
You wear a helmet to protect yourself from an accident, an accident cannot be planned, it is an accident in true sense of the word. So, basically buy the best helmet and protective apparel you can budget for without ruining your finances to support your family.

    • Sorry to break the flow Robin.

I was wondering if anyone has bought a MPA-AGV lid in the last couple of months..?
I wanted to enquire as to how much one would cost.
My requirements being washable padding. Im willing to skimp on the graphics if necessary.

My budget for this lid would be around 2 grand. Im open to other brands too if they come with removable padding and are reputed to be pretty good.

      Cheers..!!

Thanks a ton for your replies guys. Actually I hail from Kolkata and there is no dealer for Daijya or KBC or any other good sports helmets. All the stuffs are chinese and don't even carry a safety standard (atleast its not written anywhere). I tried those chinese full faces and to some extent I found them uncomfortable. So chose to wear a half face. Though Marushin makes modular helmets, I haven't seen any modular ones in the Daijya catalogue. So the other choice is KBC or some other reputed brand. Lets see what I can get. Will let you know. Thanks once again friends.

        • Hey guys..This is Ketan here..
I've been a silent reader of this thread for quite some time.

Guys i need to buy a helmet and my budget is around 1.5k
I think the only recommendation is Vega..right? Is there any other brand available?

Also i currently own Studds Ninja Half face helmet. Complete black and is in scratch less condition. I have to sell this before buying the new one. So if i get a good value for this one i can extend my budget to around 2k. I had no issues with this helmet as it's still showroom like new but the only thing is half helmets dont suit for R15 that's y wanted to change.

One of the places i know is Alibhai premji at Lamington Rd.
Any other place where i can get good hemets at reasonable price in Mumbai?

Also if anyone wish to buy my current helmet can buzz me anytime.. That'll b indeed helpfull.

          • @Maverick: At 2k the best bet will be SB GP one as these have the removable inner padding. I wont vouch for AGV as their quality is still in doubt.

@ Ketan R 15: I will suggerst you the same lid what i have suggested to Maverick, i know you have to stretch your budget a bit, you i know you can do it.

            • Hi Bandhav,
My requirement is exactly the same as Maverick and Ketan.
Any idea about the weight of the GPone? I checked the styles on their website and they are OK. I need a light helmet (without compromising on the safety though)

Can anybody suggest places in Bangalore where I can get these. When I was looking for a regular helmet, I simply got it from a shop at Marthahalli, but I dont know if he stocks GPOne, this is a weekend assignment for me now.

Any other recommended brands? I saw names like GPR and KBR(?) on this thread. Are these applicable to our requirement?

              Thanks,
              Beo

I wont be able to comment on the weight thing, you can check with guys who are using it, like aryan, aparajith, rossiter, PM them.

We really dont have a very clear cut picture about their authencity, so i will suggest to stay away from these.

I think you mean KBC, this is one good brand of lids but pricing is a little on the higher side. The least expensive full face helment in their range can make you poorer by almost 6k.

Rossiter uses GP-One and ARAI, while Apar uses GPR. Apar is from Chennai. As for other folks from B'lore using GPR, try contacting Praful and Krish.

                            • Heres a link to the website for GPOne:
Steelbird Hi-Tech India Ltd-Products: Full Face Helmets

Here they are listed as 2100 to 2300 but I guess they might be 5-10% lesser at the stores. I dunno

                              Any feedback GPOne owners?

I have taken the link from a previous page on this same thread. @Mod, do I have to point to that post.

Guys, after a long wait, finally i was able to replace my 2 year old GPR with SparX Shield helmet.
SparX meets both ECE2205 & DOT standards. Looks & feels good (read light weight) and cuts down the noise significantly at high speeds.
I purchased it from Bhuvan's store in Pune.
