Airoh starts at 6500bux. Dont go to KBagh, all theifs there with fake copy helmets. 90% of KBCs and HJCs you will find there are fakes.
You can contact Gaurav (Torque Apparels) or Rajiv (Meanding India) for the genuine ones. PM me if you want their contact details. Gaurav is located in Janakpuri and Rajiv in Vasant Kunj. I have bought gears from both of them and they are 100% genuine.

The models of both brands currently available in India under the Rs.10k level represents their starting range and therefore not their best. Some brands because of their lower cost structure will be able to offer you technically better products at a lower price than higher price products of another brand, so unless you are technically sound, you might end up paying more for a lower spec helmet simply because of brand recall or snazzy graphics. I would suggest that you first do a recon of the helmet brands available, note the model numbers that interest you and then do your independent research into the tech specs of each model. You might be surprised by the results!

I would NOT recommend buying ANY helmets from Kbagh in Delhi either given that almost all are fakes. I would recommend that you check with the availability of both these helmet brands with their authorised dealer, which is PRS in Mumbai, though I think that PRS has discontinued (please check first) KBC/Sparx due to the unchecked and rampant counterfeiting of that brand. Airoh from Bachoo Motors too is another good choice, though again, I personally would select from their higher ranges only.
It does sound logical so I am thinking I will go with a top of the end SOL because I find the SOL helmets to be lighter than KBCVR2R and also the spares would be more easily available. Only reason why i wasnt considering SOL is cause I tried the SOL SX1 at meandering india and it is a bit too big for my taste (the fit was fine, but the external size was a bit large). I have no clue about HJC helmets and I am not that technically sound when it comes to helmets. I just want something that can be used for touring, performs well at high speeds (140+) and sourcing visors is not next to impossible. Can the SOL helmets tick all these boxes ?

Yes I know about those karol bagh dealers, had a personnel experience. I bought a sparx for 7k from karol bagh and it turned to be a fake peace of crap.!
Also I know meandering india is a great place for riding gear, I bought a Spartan Hyperion from them recently along with a lot of other stuff. But they only had limited helmets and I was told to place a order if I want one so I will have to zero on the helmet that I want first. Now I am just deciding between Airoh and SOL And this is so confusing !

Am using AIROH SPEED FIRE PITBULL which i got for 7499/- from Bachoo Motors who r the official guys for selling Airoh in India. Gaurav Sharma and other who are selling Airoh in India get those helmets from Bachoo Motors.

I really like the airoh j-106 and the pit one xr but both are out of my budget which means waiting for a few more moths and till then using the yohe that i have which has already been through two accidents. Cant really decide what to do. Do you have any experience with the SOL helmets and how do they compare with your pitbull ?

I have experience with SOL too, ( SOL SF-1 Solid Plain White ) which one of my friend is having. Coming to Airoh its view sight is restricted, so if u want to look to your left or right when moving in traffic u need some time to get adjusted to it but on Highways its a brilliant piece even when i was doing 135Kmph i was not knowing that i was doing that speeds until i saw the speedo.
At high speeds you wont hear your engine sound too, its too silent. But there is some wind noise but i felt that's manageable. I met with an accident last month and i was wearing Airoh that time and it saved my head from major injury and at the time of accident the visor took the impact and came off when i was sliding and visor was left with heavy scratches, so i had to buy a new one which costed me 2k and the visor clips another 1K and Fogging is a issue when doing slow speeds as its totally compact helmet.

On SOL the view sight is good even in traffic and i dint test it much so cant speak of fogging issues. But the size wise it fitted me perfectly and the same sized Airoh one i use. Visor cost of SOL is around 900 something.

Thats indeed a big mess !
Are you still using the same helmet ? Cause i guess its not advised to use the same helmet after a major accident.

can someone give a review as to how the SOL helmets perform at high speeds and do those vents do their job well ?

That accident happened not because of my fault, but because of an old rikshaw wala and improperly laid divider over a narrow steep road. I was doing 60Kmph and the road was empty with only 1rikshaw wala moving slowly to the left side of the road and as i generally dont honk in city limits followed the same and was about to overtake him, i dont know what made that rikshaw wala to come into my lane all of a sudden when i was about to overtake him and i tried to escape from him and moved to extreme right and there i dint notice that the divider blocks were not kept parallel to other blocks and i rammed to the divider blocks and i was thrown onto the other side of the road and luckily there was no oncoming vehicle from the other side and i was saved and my bike fell over the divider and a lot of mess happened to it.

The lesson i learnt : There are many idiots on the roads, So I do have to Honk while overtaking.

Yes am using the same helmet got a new visor (costed 2K ), I have sent my helmet to Bachoo Motors for inspection after the accident and i was told by them that as there are no internal cracks ( the helmet just slided during accident ) the helmet can be used safely.

thanks for reply. points to be noted.
honking is bad but in india it can avert an accident at most times.
whenever there is an accident one cannot excuse by saying , not my fault. maybe in the rare cases, though.
autos and trucks have huge blind spots. make sure the driver has seen you through RVM.
only you know how was the impact. damages to helmets or other gears or internals of the bike cannot be examined by naked eye.

ride safe. thats all at last. ride safe.

SOL has a good range starting from 3k but not exactly 3k quite a few hundred bucks more. Next up you have LS2 series, and then you have Cross, TIH etc. All these are good affordable helmets.

And if you're in the vicinity of KB, never purchase any helmets from Karol Bagh let alone anything that is important be it riding gear or something for the motorcycle. Everything there oozes fake, and costs are almost an eyewash.

                          Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

But i had attended one g2g and the fellow xbhpians asked me to avoid vega helmets. I respect their advice as they are more experienced, and now i am thinking of ls2.

but just for the sake of information, what is wrong with vega, coz i see really a lott of people using it...

No one says vega is bad, just that other brands are better.. The vega helmets currently in the market are not as strong and don't have as many features are the branks above mentioned..

I didn't find anything wrong with Vega. In fact my first helmet was a Vega Boolean, then LS2 and now Sparx. The guys suggesting against Vega might have had bad experience. I would suggest against modular helmets.
