You mean, tax exemption for helmets priced below ₹ 4,000/- Or a mandatory tax about Min(8-10% of MRP, ₹ 4000)?To be honest, I don't remember buying helmets with cash receipt.

Nothing optional (as exempt), all mandatory!
EDIT - Always insist on an invoice for whatever you buy.

A mandatory tax about Min(8-10% of MRP, ₹ 4000) is biased towards rich people. I'll use all my influence(none, at the moment) to bring this bill down.

It's a genuine advice, but it assumes everything in the system is working ideally.

Guys, I was thinking of going for either the LS2 FF370 or FF386. I'm looking for modular helmets. What's the difference between the 370 and 386? Can anybody help me out with that? Also, are there any alternatives upto 6k?

Both are good old, flip up helmets, if that's what you wanted to know. Apart from a few nitty-gritty novelties, both are indeed the same

Secondly, I would suggest you to look for helmets such as MT, and SparX, these helmets don't cost a bomb, having been personally used both, I can personally guarantee they are very good stuffs. MT on the other hand is lighter, stronger and beautifully done, no cheap spots anywhere.

SparX is on the heavier side, and though noist after 114+. If you're still looking for a full face at your exact price point proposition, you can consider SOL. But personally I'd suggest you to stick to MT.

You have HJC, AGV, all good quality, genuine helmets from Performance Racing. You can be 100% sure the stuff sold by these guys are 100% genuine. Though on the costlier side, it's almost worth it.

Here you have AGV, HJC, all in the 7.5 and upwards, sweet isn't

                  Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                  The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Coming to helmets , if you are on tight budget do have a look on the following : Studds Rhyno, Studds Shifter, Studds Scorpion, Vega Axor, MT Helmets. All these under 4K price tag.

If you can let me know the budget you have, will let you know other options

That leaves very very less options which will actually save your head. You might be able to get the entry level Studds or the Vega offroad crap. Fix a price for your head and get one accordingly.

I've been using STUDDS NINJA 3G for 1.5 years now. Very good quality and value for money. Cost me 1.5K. Has survived many falls(not with me luckily!) and only 2 hairline scratches till date. I also use STUDDS TRACK and VEGA CRUISER(both cost me around 800 bucks). Both are light and comfortable but honestly I don't find them as confidence inspiring as NINJA 3G.
I can also go to the extent of saying that NINJA 3G is better than some of it's costlier competitors as far as build quality is concerned and is one of the top helmets under 2K.

Agree. Ninja 3G is VFM, but we better avoid modular helmets. Be it Ninja 3G or Vega Boolean, the chin portion has many a time snapped in case of a fall and riders have ended wirh a broken jaw. Doesn't it defeat the very purpose of a full face helmet?
