DSG ties up with KYT Helmets

Made by an Indonesian helmet giant Tarakusuma, and sold exclusively by DSG in India, KYT brand helmets are now available in different series, sizes and price points to fit every individual buyer's requirements.

The Scorpion series KYT lids sell for Rs 3,500, and are open face helmets with an anti-theft lock system and double visor system for day and night riding convenience. The RC 7, on the other hand, is a series of full face helmets available for the same price, with all basic features in place except the anti-theft lock that is offered with the Scorpions. Helmets offered in the Scorpion and RC 7 series are designed specifically for city use. The Alpha Venom series offered at Rs 7,000 gets a racy design, with sporty design elements and a good, comfortable fit. If you don’t mind shelling out an extra Rs 1,000, you can have a convertible helmet in the same series. The C4-Tech KYT helmet gets a Moto GP inspired design, priced at Rs 12,000 and constructed from composite fibreglass, with a good velvet-feel lining offered on the inside and improved fit and superior wind and sound damping characteristics even when riding at high speeds.

Overall, KYT helmets provide adequate fit-finish levels, and are neatly designed to fit every budget and taste of the new-age Indian motorcyclist.

      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Hahaha, on a more serious note, good thing that finally international companies are realizing the true potential of the Indian Motorcycle market and bringing more and more, better options at competitive rates.

I'm myself looking for a new lid, and was really confused between SOL/MT/Sparx. My outgoing lid is a LS2 (dragon, 4 years old), even though i'm really impressed by it, i don't wanna fall prey to fake LS2s.
          Any pointers ?

Phheww , at last someone with the same model that I have.
I would suggest to upgrade to HJC/KBC , PRS Mumbai might have them in stock. Contact them to confirm.

Sparx and SOL are the way to go, but mind you at any speed above 90 wind noise will be there, to reduce further , you will need to use earplugs, sparx helmets comes with a pair of ear plugs with them, so will be handy, if you can hike the budget about 2k more, then you have HJC to choose from, which will be worth every penny.

For night use, use only clear visor. Both black and mercury ones will hinder visibility.

I just love the graphics of the LS2 dragon, wish i could get the same quality again.
Have to retire the lid cause the mercury visor is full of scratches and i'm unable to find its replacement. Also, the rubber outline of the helmet ( the part that touches the ground when you keep the helmet down) has come off. It's slowly aging and i just dont feel 'safe' now.

HJC/KBC i presume are costly right ? I mean, dont they start from 7k onwards ? For a person working in Infosys, i'm sure you would understand how much it weighs on the pocket
Also i have to pick a lot of gear next month, Spartan Helios, Spartan knee guards (worn inside the jeans) and full gauntlet gloves (probably Spartan).

So was looking for mid range , like 5k, max 6(resorting to begging).

BTW hows this ? I think it would be better if try the helmet out, so will be checking out various shops in Bangalore, Lets gear up etc. I have a huge head so don't wanna mess with the sizes

Also: hows the learning curve in replacing the visor in HJC ( like if i wanna quickly swap between Mercury and Clear )

How about, when compared to LS2 351, is it lighter/heavier, comfort etc?

Yes, HJC is on the costlier side, 8.5k is the entry level. Then again it is absolutely worth the money, I cannot stress enough on that point..!!
Now if you still cannot stretch, then i'd suggest SOL or Sparx, which are within the 7k range and quite good themselves, but then again, like i said erlier , do not expect good noise reduction above 90kmph, use a ear plug instead, a cheap way out of the wind noise problem.

Yes Sal, I have a sparx lid. And comparing to the LS2, it is heavy, the LS2 was 1.2kg , my sparx is 1.5kg, the weight you get used to in a few days, the finish is immaculate, the padding quality is just so obvious on touch and feel, you feel the helmet to be more snug in fit, than the same size ls2 would be.
The wind noise reduction is better than LS2, the visor has these small open-lose mechanism flaps which help in de-fogging in rainy days, and it is effective too(you get a spare set with it, if the one were to get damaged).
Then Comfort is really good, I use it regularly and still the padding are holding on quite good, over 13k kms of usage that is, mostly long tours.
They have the D-clip fasterers, which are so much better and fail proof than the sliding system.

Negatives would be cost of visor, then the padding on the bottom side starts peeling the shiny layer after some 4-5 months, then it gets a matt look and all is fine. It doesn't wear off more.

                        Cheers

Hey, I too have a SparX Buck King helmet. I've ordered a Mercury visor for R. 1600/-. Basically, the costs are-
                            Mercury- R. 1600/-,
Black- R. 1100/- on eBay, 1600/- on Bikegear..
                            Clear- R. 900/-

Like Krishna said HJC , KBC, Airoh all will cost well above 8K. Their visor mechanism is easier than Sparx and that is something considering it takes about 10 seconds to put the visor on Sparx. At somewhat lesser price point is the SOL and Sparx. If you can get a genuine Sparx (get it from an authentic dealership) then I feel it is better than SOL. As Krishna stated the lower part of the padding will start loosing its soft velvety finish soon, but it stops and doesn't deteriorate further. Also the cost of the visor is greater than some of the better helmets from Studds.

For Sparx/SOL, I would suggest you to not purchase from Snapdeal or any website, unless it is bachoo motors or PRS or in case of SOL - SPG. Also because Sparx only comes in one shell size, you have to try it on to be sure. Thats the best thing about SOL 68s as they have three shells for different sizes rather than different padding. Although its a bit more loud than Sparx at speeds above 100. Sparx and SOL are heavy as has been mentioned, but, you get used to it, hasn't ever bothered me on rides.

LS2s are good but at their price range, I feel MT helmets would be better. I don't have personal experience with the helmet, but, it looked good and the padding also was very comfortable.
