Indeed it should offer better protection as you are more prone to hit big rocks and roll with that
There is a reason why "motocross" helmets are given the term or are called "motocross"

The safety provided by a full face helmet is anytime better than motocross/modular helmets.

Pick up any motocross helmet and check the chin area, its no where protection the jaw of the rider, over that, its (mostly) so flimsy that it can break over slight impact, imagine what would happen to jaw after that.

Secondly the main criteria while choosing an helmet is that it should be quite snug in cheek area, motocross helmet are no where snug, it might touch your cheeks but they are never snug there.

Ever wondered (people who are fans of motocross helmet) why you only see motocross helmets only in a specific spport and why everyone else ditches it out while they ride their bikes.

Dont fall for so called "fashion" of motocross helmets, use the grey cells along with some google search and decide which helmet gives all round protection

Points to remember for people who wants motocross helmets.
      - You know what's the speed in motocross & offroads ?? It will be slower than what we do in roads. 40-50
      - And in motocross crash you will be hitting mud which will disperse some force unlike Asphalt.
      - And the cost of motocross helmets because of the materials they are made of? I have an old vega street/stunt helmet. I could easily break its chin by just punching it.

Guys if you are thinking about modular, half face, motocross helmet keep in mind that everyone here supports full face helmets. Even for cruisers like HD's

Also we won't prefer full face with inbuilt goggles.

If you want goggles get an Ray Ban Aviator.
for sunshade there are some full face helmets with sunshade but am not sure about their protection.

If you want a stylish helmet go for a catchy bright coloured graphics which everyone here supports.

There's no point in being stylish with your helmet if it won't have some portions of your head after an unlikely crash.

        Much appreciated, +prateek

I would any day want much safety but I should not hate it because of the comfort it offer hence I am looking for something which can offer me both. I wear glasses too and sweat under sun these days. So,absolutely spending on something and not wearing because of not being comfortable should not be the point I end up with.

Which is more suitable and comfortable for touring? LS2 Arrow or LS2 CR1 ?
Have chosen LS2 brand as parts availability is very easy.

As told earlier I too wear glasses and from starting I am using full face helmets never felt uncomfortable, in case of new helmets paddings takes some time to break in. MT helmets have snug fitting and provide good protection, KYT are also good but lacks finish. I would say you will get used to full face helmets but if you create an image of being uncomfortable beforehand then you will not be able to wear it for long.

I have glasses for 2decades now and riding with them with full face helmet for more than 10years now. Its only matter of time that we get accustomed to it.

stay away from LS2 as there authenticity is still an issue, sol/mt have been in the market fir sometime now and i guess the parts wont be a problem.

                    My answer: Mseal

moved the position from right side to Front.
The hook on the right side is still present.

I am using SJ4000 for my motovlog videos. Its nowhere to be compared with gopros but in less than 9k you get everything so no complaints.

They dont come with specific helmet mount but you can make one with provided mounts. If you check my channel www.youtube.com/pratthebrat you will.find my motovlogging helmet setup. That might give you an idea. And head to the action camera thread, loads of pics and videos there.

                            • Re: Helmets

Back in Jan, I had posted about the THH T-76 Scorpion helmet that I had bought for my sister off PayTM.

Had also bought a THH TS-41 Orange Bull back then but had gone AWOL before I could post about it after clocking some miles using it.

I realize THH is not a recommended brand here and I respect those views. I would have myself looked at the Kranos series as it fit my budget but THH's offering undercut it by more than 1.5K owing to discounts. Moreover, the other contender, the venerable Shifter, wasn't available anywhere in my city and I had to order it online as well. So went with the THH in the end.

Coming to the helmet, I have talked/compared its fit in the post I linked in the first line. But to summarize, it's a free size (59-61cm) and it fits me extremely well. Wind noise is fantastically minimal at even 90kmph, something that was present noticeably in the T-76 model. The liners are removable, quality seems fine, D-Ring's there, visor clarity is pretty good and the ventilation points are alright. The fit in fact is so snug that on a long ride (the only one in fact since the time I bought the helmet), my left ear started paining after around 3 hours of continuous use. But that is not something I would hold against it.

I bought the Orange Bull version of the TS-41 and it comes with a matte finish. I'll be embarking on another long ride next week using this helmet.
