Too much wind noise even at 80kmph.
Fit is not comfortable no matter which size you try.
Only plus point is pinlock visor which comes as standard.

On the contrary, I found the fit and comfort to be top notch.

Wind noise is there, but it is way less than want to had with my previous Studds Shifter.

I am currently using MT blade and HJC cl-17.
Thats the reason smk didn't impress me much.
Surely it will be a well upgrade from shifter, but there are many more options available in market if you stretch your budget a little.

I was looking to buy a MT helmet as well but while doing some research this weekend, found out some concerning things about it.

A rider wearing a MT helmet at the Kari Motor Speedway had a crash and his helmet split in half causing fatal head injuries. In another incident, the D ring clasp failed and opened up during a crash and left the rider with some pretty bad facial bruises. After reading these stories, I'm a bit hesitant to go with MT now.

Has anyone else heard about anything like this related to MT?

I was looking to buy a MT helmet as well but while doing some research this weekend, found out some concerning things about it.

A rider wearing a MT helmet at the Kari Motor Speedway had a crash and his helmet split in half causing fatal head injuries. In another incident, the D ring clasp failed and opened up during a crash and left the rider with some pretty bad facial bruises. After reading these stories, I'm a bit hesitant to go with MT now.

Has anyone else heard about anything like this related to MT?

This has already been discussed here. Few points from that, how come you know that the rider's helmet never faced any fall before the crash?
Please search it.

• One fall is enough to send an helmet to garbage bin even if it has fallen from just 1-2feet. Its shell has been compromised, using it again means taking risk with your own head.
• I have my comment there but posting it here too : "Few of my pointers after watching the video.* The helmet should not be loose from forehead and chin/jaw area, so if the inner shell did that, that clearly showed the helmet was "oversized".* The D ring never comes out, trust me on this until the button is not clicked properly, so again the question is , was the d ring properly tightened?* As per Infoclone padding should be hard, which will eventually make the face/head hit harder object. #riplogic. Also its the shell that should be focussed upon, not the padding.* Lastly, tailgating in itself is wrong practice, specially when our roads have unseen brake usage , over that he sped up from start.So my question is , is it "really" the helmet that should be questioned?"

Not really. The helmets are made to absorb impact with a head inside. So usually if dropped, it most probably would be unharmed.

To quote Snell website,

Generally the answer is probably not.* Helmets are one-use items, but are quite durable otherwise, at least the ones we certify. Frequent dropping or spiking* a helmet on the ground, or other hard surfaces may eventually degrade the helmet's performance.* Similarly if the helmet falls to the ground at highway speeds unoccupied, the owner must be aware that some degradation may have occurred.** In general, the real damage comes when the helmet contacts an object with a head inside.* The Foundation recommends that if you are participating in an activity that requires that you wear a helmet, you avoid hitting stuff with your head.* It can be difficult to readily determine if a helmet has been damaged, and the protective capabilities compromised without a thorough inspection by a trained professional.* Some manufacturers may provide this service or direct you to these others that can perform these inspections.* The Foundation recommends that if you suspect your helmet may be compromised, then replace it. If the helmet has been involved in an impact while in use, replace it.*"

Well HJC being a manufacturer will always err on the side of caution.
Any significant impact will damage the helmet but that doesn't mean every impact will.
If I have enough money to spend 50k every time I drop my helmet, I definitely will 😬

Reading about the helmet splitting open reminds me of a video I had watched about fake helmets being imported into UK. When they tested them, they 'split open' just like what's described in the article about the Kari Motor Speedway incident.

I'm just wondering of the possibility of fake MT helmets making their way here.

I've friends who have owned/own them for years and swear by them. I've nothing against MT, like i said earlier, I'm looking to buy one myself but after hearing about such incidents I'm a bit unsure and just want to clear up my doubts.

Go with what your heart says. Because if you go out and find. almost every brand have fatalities involved with it (Marco passed away with AGV helmet coming off his head)

My friend has a really good discount offer to be used on SnapDeal and we are thinking to order "HJC CL - ST Ignition" series helmet.

1. Is snapdeal selling a genuine HJC?
2. Is the helmet good for its price?
3. How's the wind noise and comfort ?
