For visor, use pinlock. Helps in keeping fog out. And for spectacles, cleaning the glass with cleaning spray (don't remember the name) will help in keeping the glass for fogging up quick.

Hey guys. I'm planning on buying a helmet. Preferably a range under 2.5k. I had almost decided on choosing steelbird air, when I read somewhere that studds shifter is also good, maybe better. I'd like to ask you guys if shifter is actually better, if so, why?

Don't know about Studds Shifter but I own a Steelbird Air so can give you an idea what to expect. Cost - 1.7k, Looks are really good and funky. On the highway I feel it's a bit noisy however at this price range I didn't expect much. Not too heavy or bulky but big enough that it doesn't fit in the boot space of say an Activa type scooter. Has removal inner lining for easy washing which I think should be present in most helmets in this range.

The visor mechanism however is my main gripe, it has the tab to pull the visor up right in the center of the visor so anytime you're driving and decide to lift it up, you block your entire view. Also even though the helmet is a very snug fit with no space around, when I pull the visor up it inevitably shifts the helmet upwards which I found really irritating and bothersome, the movement mechanism is not very good or well thought out imo. My last helmet was a Vega HP and was much better designed in this aspect (Got stolen )

Thanks for the reply, and the short review of the steelbird air. 😁
The thing is, I'm a student, and I own a 150cc bike, so I'd like to not go above 2.5k, cause I feel as long as I drive safe, won't be necessary.
However, I went searching through this thread, and have come to the conclusion that studds shifter is probably better.
So I'm hoping someone will give a short review of the shifter as well, comparing the two.

Also, can I ask which bike you own, and which state you stay in? 😁

Mine is a 150cc bike too, P150, bought in Bangalore now in Pune I also didn't see the need to buy a costlier helmet since my riding is generally limited to city riding and max 65 kmph, I'm sure few members here would disagree

It would be better if you tried on both helmets and decide, because safety-wise I think both are equal, the other opinions of users on other things like chin-strap quality/comfort, interior lining/padding, visor ease of use, weight of the helmet etc would depend and vary from user to user. You just need to know what points to look out for.

I have Nolan N91 modular in my mind, does anyone use any nolan helmets and it shows that it weighs 3.6kgs, is this weight normal, my current helmet is very heavy so looking for a lighter one with budget pricing possibly in brands such as HJC,Nolan or Scorpion.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Have anyone used Nolan helmets, does 3.6kgs feel a bit heavy on touring usage ?

                      It's 3.7 lbs = 1.6 kgs, i think OP misread it.

If safety is similar, I guess I wouldn't really mind either then. The other main point I wanna check for is the wind noise at higher speeds.

I used to race in the UK, and especially in endurance races, the specs and the visor would easily fog up (especially at night). The cheapest and the easiest way to avoid this is by wiping your visor, and if you want, your glasses with a mixture of water and washing liquid. This works wonders for the visor - I haven't tried it for my glasses. The easiest way to avoid spectacles from fogging up would be by leave a finger width of space open at the bottom. Usually works.

                            ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

I recently purchased an MT Blade SV Reflexion helmet from ProBiker in Pune. The reason I am writing this post is because there has been very little on this thread about SPGs customer service, something that I had to interact with for the past few days. So this is a review of how SPG works when it comes to after sales service and hopefully, comes of use for some of you'll.

I got my helmet on Thursday (13/07) for 6,250 from SPGs primary seller, Probiker. While I did inspect the helmet at the store, I seem to have admittedly not done a complete inspection before buying and paying for it. A day after the purchase (the helmet was unworn and unused because of the rains here), I noticed that the vent on the rear right side was raised, and didn't fit into it's notch. This was very distressing for me, and since I can get as pedantic as possible, I thought that this might be because the helmet was probably dropped by the reseller and may not be a 100 percent.

I wrote to SPG at [email protected] on Saturday morning, and didn't expect to hear back from them until Monday. On Monday, their head of alternate channel sales, Muthulaksmi R got in touch with me and asked me to send the helmet for a physical inspection. I immediately packed the helmet in the box it came in, double bubble wrapped it and sent it on its way with DTDC. The courier cost me Rs 1,200. It reached them in Chennai on Wednesday morning, and I immediately got a mail from Muthulakshmi R suggested that a replacement would be sent the next day. True to their word, on thursday, one week since I'd purchased the helmet, SPG dispatched my new helmet via DTDC couriers and provided me with a tracking ID. This reached me the next day, and the new helmet was the same colour and size. The was just a very very small dent near where the rubber along the visor is, but I'm not going to be too worried about that. SPG also issued me with a Rs. 300 credit note immediately, and I used it to buy a new iridium visor as well.

All in all, SPGs service has been superb. I was worried about how a helmet distributor would deal with such an issue (this is my first time returning a helmet), but I was impressed with the professionalism and punctuality in communication and their operations. My only gripe was that the box in which the helmet came was torn and soggy because of the rains - and upon giving them this feedback, they said they were already working on a new out box design.

I've attached the images of the manufacturing defect below:

2 days back my existing helmet (Gift) visor came off. Detent mechanism came out from cam stud.

Went to Mumbai (A H Helmets) and bought MT Revenge Binomy (GST made price hike up by 750 INR). Desired colour is not available but decided function > look which i can alter later.

I travelled in complete rain from Nashik to Mumbai in complete public transport (been standing for 14 hours, train after train). I was thinking that the helmet and after sales be better worth effort

Now saw your post and good to hear about the after sales.

                              Fogging

                              Thanks for the input @siddharthmsc
I attended skiing course this February and my skiing goggles and spectacles used to fog up by the time we walked up to the slopes. I even hit a boundary wall going downhill due to fogged up vision.

                              Tried methods

                              1. Anti fog spray + dry time overnight = Fail in 10 mins

                              2. Johnson baby tearless shampoo (best ) + dry overnight = 4 hours (less if goggles removed)

                              3. Spit (used by scuba divers) = Nope

                              4. Tooth paste = 30 mins
