Re: Studds Shifter/THH Query (Not which helmet to buy, one particular "senior" member)
I got to check Blade and Thunder by myself then, sounds like good options. I also wear specs so again, same boat.Originally posted by siddharthmsc View PostHey man! As far as I know, DS Moto is moving - it says so on their facebook page as well, I think in one of the photos. Manish was a really good guy and very helpful, but he was quite clear that they weren't going to restock for a while. I found Planet DSG quite decent, the guy was helpful (not as much as Manish or Probiker) but still had a good talk - and his range of SMKs and KYTs was quite decent - although the KYTs had no certifications which I found quite odd.
So here is the thing - I went to camp to buy the Mugello, but when I found that the mugello and the axxis have only one shell, it became a safety issue. People like you and I, who have smaller head sizes are affected most. The shell is build to handle even the largest (XXLs), so the slightest bedding of the foam and the helmet would become loose for us, which would impact safety.
With all this in mind, my hunt was between the Blade and the Thunder, both of which have multiple shells. In the end, I purchased a reflexion blade SV for 6250. This was size M, because when I tried the S, it was just way to small (I also wear glasses, so very snug means that the glasses don't align properly)
I wish i could send photos, but two days after buying the helmet, I noticed a manufacturing defect (despite having had a decent look at the helmet before buying). One side of the vent hadn't fit into the notch quite correctly, and I had to send it to SPG in chennai for them to inspect and see if it needs replacement. Well - things happen :/
I should hear back from them early next week, and when I do get the helmet, I will post photos and a review on here - both of the helmet, but also of the SPG customer service. In the meantime, if you have any questions, fire away!
Thanks for the responses. Cheers.

Re: Helmets
For visor, use pinlock. Helps in keeping fog out. And for spectacles, cleaning the glass with cleaning spray (don't remember the name) will help in keeping the glass for fogging up quick.Originally posted by kashok View PostWhat do you guys do in situation when both spectacles and visor fog at same time.
I am making frequent stops and wiping spectacles , let visor defog and move on again. Ant alternatives approaches used by you guys in such situations ?

Re: Helmets
Hey guys. I'm planning on buying a helmet. Preferably a range under 2.5k. I had almost decided on choosing steelbird air, when I read somewhere that studds shifter is also good, maybe better. I'd like to ask you guys if shifter is actually better, if so, why?

Don't know about Studds Shifter but I own a Steelbird Air so can give you an idea what to expect. Cost - 1.7k, Looks are really good and funky. On the highway I feel it's a bit noisy however at this price range I didn't expect much. Not too heavy or bulky but big enough that it doesn't fit in the boot space of say an Activa type scooter. Has removal inner lining for easy washing which I think should be present in most helmets in this range.Originally posted by always_a_noob_97 View PostHey guys. I'm planning on buying a helmet. The visor mechanism however is my main gripe, it has the tab to pull the visor up right in the center of the visor so anytime you're driving and decide to lift it up, you block your entire view. Also even though the helmet is a very snug fit with no space around, when I pull the visor up it inevitably shifts the helmet upwards which I found really irritating and bothersome, the movement mechanism is not very good or well thought out imo. My last helmet was a Vega HP and was much better designed in this aspect (Got stolen

Thanks for the reply, and the short review of the steelbird air. 😁Originally posted by _kamikaze_ View PostDon't know about Studds Shifter but I own a Steelbird Air so can give you an idea what to expect. The thing is, I'm a student, and I own a 150cc bike, so I'd like to not go above 2.5k, cause I feel as long as I drive safe, won't be necessary.
However, I went searching through this thread, and have come to the conclusion that studds shifter is probably better.
So I'm hoping someone will give a short review of the shifter as well, comparing the two.
Also, can I ask which bike you own, and which state you stay in? 😁

Mine is a 150cc bike too, P150, bought in Bangalore now in PuneOriginally posted by always_a_noob_97 View PostAlso, can I ask which bike you own, and which state you stay in?
I also didn't see the need to buy a costlier helmet since my riding is generally limited to city riding and max 65 kmph, I'm sure few members here would disagree
It would be better if you tried on both helmets and decide, because safety-wise I think both are equal, the other opinions of users on other things like chin-strap quality/comfort, interior lining/padding, visor ease of use, weight of the helmet etc would depend and vary from user to user. You just need to know what points to look out for.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions
Have anyone used Nolan helmets, does 3.6kgs feel a bit heavy on touring usage ?Respect the brotherhood Ride for the one behind you, anyone can twist the throttle. When you are in need be responsible.

Re: Helmets
Guys whoever wants to go for a new helmet....go for SMK twister helmets....
Used and satisfied.
Good fabric n soft internal removable liners, good looking graphics, scratch resistant main clear visor and internal toggle sun-visor included, Camera or Bluetooth intercom attachment options, chin guard/pad provided too.
Note: Those who wears eyeglasses like me, specs go smoothly inside without any hassle. Tested n checked. Specs with lengthier lens < > will face some difficulty, but that's rare.
Ranges from 4200 to 4300.
So mch facilities at such a price is a must buy. Review ot here after use.
Ride safe n god bless.

If safety is similar, I guess I wouldn't really mind either then. The other main point I wanna check for is the wind noise at higher speeds.
