I've been harping about this time and again. But people here still feel that they know more than the helmet manufacturers themselves. If your helmet takes a fall from a height more than waist high, ideally it should be scrapped. That is the norm world over and that's what major helmet manufacturers recommend. Visual checks are next to useless as you just cannot see and tell whether the helmet is good enough for the next fall or not. How the hell do you make out whether the protective polystyrene layer is damaged or not? Please let me know if someone has a clue about how to do this. I don't know why it is so tough for people to make sure that they don't drop their helmets. IMHO, It is plain callousness. It is better to buy an inexpensive ISI marked helmet than an expensive lid that you'll keep dropping now and then. Atleast then, you won't think twice about replacing a dropped/damaged lid. Rant mode off.

What jayprashanth says makes sense.... and the points that I would take from his reply are "do not wear a crash wala helmet" & "dont buy a costly helmet". Now that makes sense !!Originally posted by darkknight View Post^^ i second that sirjee.tht's probably why chetan wants to replace.& now you got me thinking too
.
So am left with the normal brands... coz investing 6-8k after every crash is like more than the cost of bike repairs and medical expenses
.... is there no helmet insurance as such??

Ohh gr8..so Daijya for regular daily use..!!Originally posted by chetanpulsar View PostThat is a crap helmet... and I plan to replace my regular helmet (for slow city commuting) with the Daijya (current one) and get a new one for long rides.

And, which new one you planning to buy..!!?? You can go in for the Sparx..fits your current budget too..and the quality a little better than the Daijyas..

If you read my last 4-5 posts on this thread.... am thinking of getting a "normal" helmet...Originally posted by inder.cool View PostOhh gr8..so Daijya for regular daily use..!!

Btw.. the Sparx is not as good as the Daijya... checked it yesterday.
As far as I feel... only KBC helmets which are 12k+ are good. But again.. they are overly priced.Chetan

Vega/AGV seems to be a good option..
Sneh, had different reviews after using a Sparx..but one thing he told that the padding is a bit soft..!!Originally posted by chetanpulsar View PostBtw.. the Sparx is not as good as the Daijya... checked it yesterday.

That looks like a fantastic service on the part of a manufacturer. I'll enquire with PRS about the same.
The padding feel... the overall build... and the feeling that you get after wearing both of them, thats the difference that made me feel... that Daijya is better then Sparx.
You should wear a KBC 12k helmet or a JR helmet... you will understand what I mean

I agree.even as a owner i remember a post here saying that these arent actually marushim counterparts in india. There were also further comments saying it might be a very good fake.& seeing tht crack on top plastic part rolling from a height of 10 inches was just too much for meOriginally posted by snehmads View PostHate towards Daijya is hard-wired, I will not get convinced
12K is a big amount my friend.
But 1 good thing is ..fitting is awesome and the padding after 5 months as good as new.sigpic

@DK: The upper plastic part tends to break at the slightest of falls... but that does not mean ur helmet shell has cracked and you wont get safety from ur helmet. That plastic part is different from ur core shell.Chetan
