I am currently using a Vega Shadow full dragon eye helmet, its pretty heavy but fits perfectly. I have used it for over 3 years now. In this time it has served good, although I never crashed or had an accident wearing that, so can't really say how safe it is. It has had some impacts though, it has fallen many times from small heights. Now I'm thinking of retiring this helmet from its services.
Now, I want a new good quality helmet within the price of 8k. I'm mainly looking for safety and quality. My use is daily wear and long distance Touring at least once a month.
I travel a lot. I go for small distance weekend getaway almost every week. And about one in a month or two I go for long distance tours (about 500-1000km one way distance).
I'm used to this Vega helmet so weight is not an issue. Though lighter one would be nice I suppose.
Not keen on matching colour with my bike, any colour scheme would do.
There are plenty of options in market - MT, THH, ARAI, SMK, HJC, ETC ETC....
Which one would you guys suggest, i have never used a high end helmet before and this will be my first, so i have no clues or experiences to help me decide. My budget as mentioned above is 8000.
Any inputs from your side is appreciated, thanks.

I've used the SMK for a year and just replaced it for a MT Thunder3.
If you want VFM product, and don't want the double D Ring, opt for the SMK blindly. Only con that I faced is the short life of the visor. After about 5-6 months, the visor geets loose and doesn't stay in its place, when lifted up. Costed me 4300/-
MT according to me is a good buy. Costed me 5750/- The only edge it has above SMK is the Double D Ring fastener, and maybe for some, the brand image.
Some other options maybe AXXIS Helmets, check on spartan pro gear official website. 5000/-
Zeus helmets. Heard they're good VFM. 4200-4600/-
SOL Helmets- Ventilation is superb but, on the flip side, it may get noisy. 7000/-
Revolt helmets- another VFM. oggyF has made a video on the helmets. That, i guess, costs around 6250/-

I'm not sure. If the vents are properly closed, that may not happen

I bought a SMK two days back, and i must say it's a bang for buck. I was reading SMK's review and many users complained about the visor getting loose, discussed this with the dealer and he told me that it's been improved (and the spare is also easily available) and also the inner linings are better now. Only drawback is the lack of d-ring.


I avoided ls2 as i was not convinced about the originality of it. And also as this helmet is just of 4300(i got it for 4100 from studds dealer), i can use the saved money on Jacket.

Is this wire for Bluetooth charging , if yes please share the detailss of Bluetooth fitted inside the helmet. Or is it just a phone lying under the helmet.

No. In heavy rainfall too your head will stay dry. Little bit of water sips in which is common in all helmets.

Recently I drove from Mundra to Ahmedabad in July, entire route it has pouring heavily. I was drenched from toe to neck and only my head part was dry.
Ventilation is really good and helmet stays stable at high speed. Only bad thing(for me only) is that when I speed up and go upwards of 120-130+ the shield comes down unintended(after crossing 120+ speed in heavy acceleration) which makes me feel annoyed why it didn't kept holding at its position.

Other thing is that the visor is made of good quality material, I am using it from last Two and half years and still it's in a very good condition unlike others. The body of helmet is very strong and durable and people tell me how you can wear this heavy helmet, I tell them its because that makes it durable. My friends have shifted from LS2 to SOL just because of reliability issue. One had a fall at 40kmph and his helmet cracked from left side(the helmet was a original one purchased from a authorised shop). I blindly trust SOL and suggest people to go for it, though it costs little high but good things don't come cheap.

There are other parameters for considering a good helmet other than graphics and brand. Material used, weight, shape, wind protection, ventilation, visibility, fitting, inside cushioning, easy to wear/clean, double D-ring, and most importantly it should be original as today in market you will find many fake copies for which LS2 is known(no personal bias).

Ls2 is the last thing I'll ever get, little bit of seepage can be ignored. I'm still confused between sol infinity and Mt revenge. sol looks better though. But again looks is the least important criteria. Mt revenge also has ECE and 5 star sharp rating(is also a bit costlier)

A heavy helmet doesn't mean more durability but definitely means more strain & fatigue on your neck, especially on longer rides. Always try to get a light helmet. Modern materials like carbon, Kevlar & polyaramid are very tough and very light.
Your neck will definitely thank you for a lighter helmet.

A heavy helmet doesn't mean more durability but definitely means more strain & fatigue on your neck, especially on longer rides. Always try to get a light helmet. Modern materials like carbon, Kevlar & polyaramid are very tough and very light.
Your neck will definitely thank you for a lighter helmet.

But at a <10k price point, what choice do we have!
Rather a safe but heavy one.

All weight around 1450gms to 1500gms some are lighter.

What you guys do in case of a worn out inner padding? I'm using a LS2 from last 4 years and everything is fine except inner padding. I searched for them and they are not available at my city. Some people said it might be available at Banglore.

For now I have arrange some DIY padding by cutting some sofa cusion foams and inserted the same into side padding but thats not a snug fit.
