Guys,

Where can i get 3M double sided tape for mounting bluetooth headset on my helmet.

I do have a 3M double sided foam tape but somehow i dont feel its that strong as the one provided with the bluetooth headset.

I need to remove the headset from my old helmet and fix it on the new helmet.

Also can somebody guide me how to remove the old 3m adhesive clamp from old helmet. Many on youtube videos say that it should be removed using hair dryer. Pls advise.

Yep. Thats wat info i got on net. But then where can i get the, s,ame, type of tape. I have a 3m tape but somehow it is not looking that strong. The back release paper of tape is same as the one which came with the bluetooth headset. Only thing is that i ts 10mm width whereas the size of bluetooth device is 2 inch approx. So i may need to put it in pieces but abit skeptical on the bonding part

You can try 3M GT 7108 grade tape. Its most widely used in automotive applications.

Holy shit...the tape costs 5000 inr on amazon. The headset itself is for 2500. Better i check something else. [emoji15]

This will be commonly available at Car Accessories shops or showrooms. Mostly used for sticking chrome accessories. Try there as your requirement is not for the entire roll.

As mentioned you can get that in Car accessory shop. the correct term is 3M VHB Tape. Or order helmet mount tapes directly from aliexpress, much cheaper

yes, I do have the 3M VHB tape . Its the small one in Black color where as the original 3M VHB one is grey in color and has more thick foam cushion.

Need to check wether i can apply the one i have hence have stuck a small piece on the old mobile holder and will test its strength tomorow. Will keep it for 24 hours atleast before trying to pull out.

I have had 2 types of tape
First this one which I got from Car shop


Second are these non branded one from aliexpress which held my helmet cam for more than a year

Anyone here using BELL helmets? And any reviews on the same. They seem to be reasonably priced, but couldn't find a single review considering its the brand some F1 drivers use.

Finally: attached the bluetooth to my SMK.

I used the existing 3M tape by cutting it into various bits and strips as it was a 10mm tape and have stuck the same on the helmet. Being the thickness of the tape is less as compared to original provided tape and the curvature of helmet, there is gap in between and also at few places the tape is not holding the base. But i feel it should be fine enough to hold the same firmly. Gave a curing time of 24 Hrs and seems its strong enough...Lets see.

Rode for 16 Kms to office today and no issues as of now.

Bluetooth generally comes with a clip holder. Is it not there in this one?
Anyways, if you have used the 3M tape, it will keep it in place. Just keep changing the tapes once in a while.

well. i do have the clip but being the helmet is new the padding is tight and when attached to clip the padding is moved a bit and the helmet becomes more tight..i hope you have understood what i mean to say. hence the tape. will try the clip once thehelmet settles downin size a bit. till then will go with this setup .
