Re: Helmets
Hi guys as we all are quite aware about the new BIS norm which is unfair for those who have been using helmets that are being homologated to better standards. I have mentioned below a link to blog, which explain why the new BIS norm is unfair and what needs to be done.
Please take a few minutes and go through the blog. In the end it also mentions a letter which needs to be written to the Joint Secratary of the Transport department. All you guys need to do is just copy paste the draft and send it to the Joint secretary (Email is mentioned).
Link- A Time To Ride: The ISI Helmet Stories
Please take a few minutes and it could possible save thousands of lives in the years to come. Our protection should be in our hands and no lobby of manufacturers should dictate what we need to wear to protect our head.

Re: Helmets
Bought Studds Thunder d3 today to replace my 2014 studds rhyno.
I have been regularly using rhyno since 2014 the padding is still like new but the main issue is with the availability of visor and its cost, the visor cost 300 rs(helmet 1300) got a new visor 2 months back but today it gave up so this time decided to spend on new helmet.
Paid 1400rs for Thunder d3 mrp is 1695.
It will be my helmet for regular city commute, i have smk for Highway.
Got a warranty card but no bill as i bargained hard.
Tried vega and steelbird too but compared to studds their padding is very thin and lacking.
Size is 580mm which is L and surprisingly it is fairly snug on my smaller size head due to good padding. Cheek pads are very snug.
My smk is size s.
Now some features.
Weight is 1350gm feels very light.
All padding is easily removable .
Two air vents on top,one big vent on the chin.
exhaust vent on the back.
Quick release visor.
Quick release locking buckle.
It comes with a Chrome visor but i got it swapped with regular tinted one.
Overall a very good helmet. A vfm and good companion to my smk.

The paddings on Studds get lose very fast, same is the case with SMK. I own both. Looking to upgrade to Scorpion or something.Originally posted by Ijs View PostBought Studds Thunder d3 today to replace my 2014 studds rhyno.

Re: Helmets
Have to agree the padding and spare prices of SMK as well as Studds are very low, easily available.Originally posted by Ijs View PostThe padding is still good on mine, have given it 2 washes. But new padding is only for 250 rs last time i checked at chopra karol bag.
Mine gets washed every Saturday/Sunday since the weekly usage gets to 750-1000 kms.

Re: Helmets
Yes I also felt the same with SMK. I have SOL Unicorn II also for daily commute. SOL is heavy but being 6'4'' I never felt it heavy after wearing.Originally posted by MidnightEvil Parth View PostThe paddings on Studds get lose very fast, same is the case with SMK. I own both. for now SMKs LS2 VEGA STUDDS AXOR are on my black list for quality issues.
my friend owns AXOR's carbon fiber helmet which comes at 11k. Apart from being light weight (which is good) the material quality and the plastic is used looks cheap and of bad quality. one or two normal city ride and paint on air vents started coming off! Pathetic quality.
I'm also looking for Scorpion OR HJC for my next.

I have almost finalized for rapid metro evo.
don't ignore HJC helmets man.. the fit and finish is really good in HJC.
Also SOL edge helmet is lil bulkier than HJC but they are ultra durable. and comfortable.Last edited by saorabbh; 09-04-2018, 11:13 PM."The Answer, My Friend,

And so are the scorpion helmets. Great ventilations on those.

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I bought SMK Glide helmet n XDI X1 jacket. Also bought Leopard tank bag.Originally posted by pinkesh2703 View PostI'm planning to buy Bell qualifier helmet & XDI X1 Hydraseal jacket. Would this be a good choice ?
Just came to know abt modular helmet n then decided to buy it. I do travel photography n I would say photography is the reason why I love travelling. So using normal full face helmet was always a problem for me as I also wear specs. So when I see some good scenery, first I have to remove my specs n then helmet then capturing the photo. Now it's lot easier with modular helmet. Just open then flap n capture the photo n move on.
I bought n wore the riding jacket(XDI X1) for the first time. & I did my most comfortable 400+ km ride on a bike. Used with rain liner n didn't feel any kind of rain. Yes it made me sweaty but it's lot better than getting drenched. Going on 90-100 n almost no feel of wind hit.
Never thought tank bag would b so helpful. No burden on shoulder n hassle free ride. All of my Camera Kit (DSLR + 3 lenses + accessories+clothes) easily fitted in the bag. Only complain is that wish this Leopard bag had compartment like DSLR bag has. So I wrapped dslr n lenses in clothes. Having a CBR 250r made this magnetic bag so much easy to put on & remove.
Although this was my only ride after getting these riding gears. Hoping some amazing hassle free rides in future.

Re: Helmets
Hey brother. I bought studds ninja 3G for regular use. I am fine. But i want high end too. I went through smk helmets sites. But the thing is there is no buy option. Where do i buy it from? Someone help please.Originally posted by Ijs View PostMeans you have a 610mm head size so a 600mm helmet would fit snuggly , a snug fit helmet does require bit of effort to wear for first week or so and it would be tight on cheeks but would get comfy after the break in, the studds you have mentioned seems like the perfect fit, try studds scorpion. Though i normally do not recommend steelbird as the padding is thin but in your case it could be handy try steelbird air series the sba1 not the sba2 sba2 lack padding, try in 600mm size it should work for you.
Or else check smk helmet they have sizes upto xxxxl in the glide series and xxxl in stellar and xl in twister and force steel.
Xl in smk is 610mm to 620mm.
Check at your local stores
