One more thing is it safe to purchase helmet from SPG's site?

    thanks in advance

I suggest your try the jacket before investing on it because its very important for the armours to fit and stay in place when you wear the jacket. So you can go and try the jacket for size at any dealer and then order online..
Same thing applies for helmets too.. It is very important to get the right size of helmet. There maybe slight difference in sizing of different brands so it is better to try it out before purchasing. You can order your helmet online once you are sure of size.. And yes it is safe to purchase from spg's site.

Are you sure about the size that will fit you ?

It is recommended that you try jackets and helmet physically and then purchase them.

You can check rynox tornado pro jacket, all i have heard is positve reviews about this jacket from my friend. I guess it is around 6999rs

Yes it is safe to buy from SPG.

      Cheers,

I'm contemplating going to the NE of India (from Pune) on my bike, and was thinking about getting some protective gear.

I don't want to spend too much.
I don't want to buy a dark coloured jacket that absorbs heat, and roasts me.
I was looking at jackets under Rs.6000, and found a few, but they're all black, or dark coloured.
I'm a vegetarian don't want anything with leather in it.

I came across a Vega JK-07 for about Rs.4000 that has CE rated armour.

But it's black, and will probably be very uncomfortable in the heat.

I also came across knee and arm protectors from Scoyco for Rs.2000. They don't have a CE rating. Are they worth buying? Can they be a substitute for a riding jacket? And are they better than FOX/AXXO. Those are priced much lower.
Scoyco Motorcycle Bike Racing Riding Knee & Elbow Guard K11: Amazon.in: Sports, Fitness & Outdoors

I also saw some Scoyco riding gloves for about Rs.900. Are they any good?

                  1) I have no Idea about Vega jackets. Although they look decent for the price.

                  2) The scoyco knee and Elbow protectors are good VFM product. I use the same, they are much better then Fox/Axxo. There is also another option in the same price range. Pro X Motorcycle Bike Racing Riding Knee & Elbow Guard: Amazon.in: Sports, Fitness & Outdoors

                  3) I dont think those Scoyco gloves would suffice for touring. They are decent for city riding.

If you have a specific budget for all 3 please let me know.

Ideally I'd like to spend less than Rs.4-5000.

                        Sir ,

In any case you will not get any good riding gears under 5k. At least you have to stretch you budget to 7-8k.

It's just gloves and a jacket or gloves and the elbow and knee guards.. Not both.
I found a CE rated jacket for about Rs.3800 from moto101 in Pune by Scimitar.
Have you heard about this brand?

Then you should go for The Vega Jacket you mentioned, if your size is XL its available for 2599 on snapdeal and reviews seem to be good.

Thanks! I checked on Snapdeal yesterday and they didn't have it listed.

I ordered it even though I don't think I'm an XL (5.9", skinny-ish), but the size guide they had was very confusing. The XL is smaller than the medium and large according to it!

Anyway, if it's too big I can always get a tailor to alter it.

For the gloves, I think I'll go to a retail shop, because I've got big hands, and I've never had a pair of gloves that fit well so far.
