Look and finish wise its the best gloves I have come across. I am totally in love with them.
I ll be using this for daily commute as well as for long rides.

Spartans have three gloves, Ares, pegasus and phaeton
I didn't find pegasus and phaeton to be of standard size(little finger alone was longer), so had to settle for Ares.
Have been using this for the past two days. There are few areas of improvement in them.
    - It might not be suitable for short rides as its a bit time consuming putting them on and off until one gets used to it.
    - Also I find a bit difficult to engage and disengage clutch with the gloves on as it restricts free movement.
Although no complaints with the right hand as there are no controls other than the throttle.

Ares comes in three different colors:-
    - Red, white and black combo
    - Grey, white and black combo
    - Full black

    Pros

    - The carbon fibre finish knuckle guards really looks cool
    - Multiple pieces of leather are skillfully stiched one below the other, looks like rose petals.
    - It has three straps for safety purpose.
According to me its the best option available in that price range.

Congo bro. Can you please provide some photos of it, front and back, high-res good quality pictures much appreciated/awaited. Me too thinking over the Phaeton for a while, but couldn't get any reviews of it, so it can help any others who are looking forward for Spartan stuff.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

      • Hey everyone,

I'm trying to find out where the shops are in Chennai that will sell mesh jackets, kneepads and pants. I just bought myself a Cramster Breezer but my girlfriend needs one and I haven't seen women's sizes anywhere.

I don't have time to order online so I need to find a shop here.

Also, in your experience how important are pants vs just wearing kneepads over your own pants? Consider the same question from the pillion perspective. Will be riding a bullet 350.

        Thanks!

Nice! Thanks for the photos bro. But personally both Ares and Pegasus didn't impress me. But I am eyeing on the Phaeton. Let me see! Just waiting for the right review.

Not really shortcomings, as I haven't used them or seen them in person for that matter. But the design, is where I personally didn't incline to the Ares or Pegasus. But I like the design of the Phaeton and the cost proportion attached to it.

I have a good friend of mine here in my hometown who deals/manufactures leather goods, apparel, gloves etc, not biking related, but more or like punk stuff and general goods. I've always wondered, get yourself a 450 rupee goat skin glove, get a patch of carbon fiber and stitch it in the knuckle area. DONE!!

I am thinking to do it, he's promised me one, but let me see. My version of carbon fiber gloves, in under 500 bucks

                      Cheers!

Nope, bud. This is how it works. I used to meet him on weekends occasionally, as he always travels to Pondicherry, for bizz matters. I took my "riding" gloves to him to see how the stuff really works and what can be the real price, etc.

Then I asked him about the feasibility of adding a carbon fiber patch in a goat skin glove he retails. He told me, it will be impossible to stitch it ourselves and moreover it's all machine stitched. I was like, I know that, how the hell can a needle go inside this carbon fiber thing, which is as solid as a CAT.

I somehow convinced him to get "one one-off" glove stitched in his production house in some sweatshops in India. The glove is of bespoke lol, so fingers crossed. I've told him all the details about where to stitch and how big the patch must be. He was like, okay, okay, okay, and the very okay he said, spelt this is not gonna happen.

My expectations are very grim as it's hard to make just one glove, but... but....

Even if You manage to stitch a carbon fibre on the goat skin glove do You think its gonna be safe for riding? Riding gears go through a lot of intense testing and certifications and I don't think You would like them to be tested on You. Proper race approved gloves will cost You around 8000 bucks.

PS: The knuckle protector on the spartan gloves just have a finish of carbon fibre. They ain't real carbon fibre. (for the look factor)

You are right, Rishi. I myself own a race spec glove for my riding, no compromises on that, and I am humble enough to say, I am well aware of the testing procedures that go into making a glove.

It's just my glove which I intend to wear on my normal in town riding occasions, I can't always wear a humongous race glove every time I go, so that's the reason I thought of "INVENTING" something myself

It's just a thought of mine with my friend. No one is gonna lay their hands even if it comes out, except me, as it's a bespoke one as I mentioned earlier.

                              Hope you're clear now

                              • Hi all, last couple of days have been going through this thread, gathering loads of information. Planning to buy some protective gear. After lot of research unable to find a decent deal from US as a friend is there and will be coming back in 4 weeks. Think the products available from DSG and PGS, Delhi are at equal cost with maybe marginal lower quality than some other brands.

I have already purchased Knee Guards from PGS Delhi and Cross Helmet from Chopras both for self and better half. Preferred these knee guards over the other AXO and Fox simply cause of the much better padding on them.

Now the other things I want to get are as below with the options shorlisted

                                1. Jacket -
                                PGS (Model 2328) - Rs 5500.00
                                DSG Nero - Rs 5500.00

                                2. Gloves -
                                PGS (Model 2526) - Rs 1300.00
                                DGS Revive - Rs 2250.00
                                PGS (Model 2506) - Rs 2500.00

                                3. Boots - This is where i need expert opinion. Rjay has some boots on sale for Rs 6K & 7K. Now the most important thing i want in any boot is Ankle Protection. Those who have riding boots with ankle protection if you could tell me what kind of protection is it. Is it a hard plastic ( or material similar for knuckle protection in gloves) or just extra padding in that area. Reason for my enquiry is I had a accident where my bike slipped in Oct'11 and I got an ankle fracture. Dont mind spending Rs7K on boots if the protection on the ankle and toe area is provided. If its just extra padding then I do have a couple of boots and I can just wear some extra padding on my ankle. Some boots that i was considering are

                                1. Speed and Strength Hard Knock Life Boots - RevZilla - $90 ( Rs 4950.00)
                                2. Tour Master Solution 2.0 WP Boots - RevZilla - $ 108 ( Rs 5940.00) (not sure if this will be ok for riding RE C500)
                                3. Joe Rocket Sonic R Boots - RevZilla - $117 ( Rs 6435) (not sure if this will be ok for riding RE C500)
                                4. Cortech Latigo Air RR Boots - RevZilla - $144 (Rs 7920) (not sure if this will be ok for riding RE C500)
                                5. RJays Urban Boot - Rs 6000.00
                                6. RJays Fuel Boot - Rs 7000.00

                                4. Tank Bag - Not sure if this product qualifies to be in this thread, still

                                1. Rynox Optimus M -Rs 3149.00 RYNOX GEARS
                                2. Tank Bag MB07 - Rs 2500.00 Tank Bag MB07

                                5. Future purchase but not sure
Body Armour / Torso Armour at PGS Delhi for Rs 3700.00 . I have seen it and its much much better quality than the AXO/Fox that you see on ebay /karolbagh. Will depend on how adventurous rides I make it to

Thanks for any assistance, hope i didnt make this too long
