After lot of research unable to find a decent deal from US as a friend is there and will be coming back in 4 weeks. Think the products available from DSG and PGS, Delhi are at equal cost with maybe marginal lower quality than some other brands.

I have already purchased Knee Guards from PGS Delhi and Cross Helmet from Chopras both for self and better half. Preferred these knee guards over the other AXO and Fox simply cause of the much better padding on them.

Now the other things I want to get are as below with the options shorlisted

    1. Jacket -
    PGS (Model 2328) - Rs 5500.00
    DSG Nero - Rs 5500.00

    2. Gloves -
    PGS (Model 2526) - Rs 1300.00
    DGS Revive - Rs 2250.00
    PGS (Model 2506) - Rs 2500.00

    3. Boots - This is where i need expert opinion. Rjay has some boots on sale for Rs 6K & 7K. Now the most important thing i want in any boot is Ankle Protection. Those who have riding boots with ankle protection if you could tell me what kind of protection is it. Is it a hard plastic ( or material similar for knuckle protection in gloves) or just extra padding in that area. Reason for my enquiry is I had a accident where my bike slipped in Oct'11 and I got an ankle fracture. Dont mind spending Rs7K on boots if the protection on the ankle and toe area is provided. If its just extra padding then I do have a couple of boots and I can just wear some extra padding on my ankle. Some boots that i was considering are

    1. Speed and Strength Hard Knock Life Boots - RevZilla - $90 ( Rs 4950.00)
    2. Tour Master Solution 2.0 WP Boots - RevZilla - $ 108 ( Rs 5940.00) (not sure if this will be ok for riding RE C500)
    3. Joe Rocket Sonic R Boots - RevZilla - $117 ( Rs 6435) (not sure if this will be ok for riding RE C500)
    4. Cortech Latigo Air RR Boots - RevZilla - $144 (Rs 7920) (not sure if this will be ok for riding RE C500)
    5. RJays Urban Boot - Rs 6000.00
    6. RJays Fuel Boot - Rs 7000.00

    4. Tank Bag - Not sure if this product qualifies to be in this thread, still

    1. Rynox Optimus M -Rs 3149.00 RYNOX GEARS
    2. Tank Bag MB07 - Rs 2500.00 Tank Bag MB07

    5. Future purchase but not sure
Body Armour / Torso Armour at PGS Delhi for Rs 3700.00 . I have seen it and its much much better quality than the AXO/Fox that you see on ebay /karolbagh. Will depend on how adventurous rides I make it to

Thanks for any assistance, hope i didnt make this too long
It's wise you've chosen to protect yourself with good riding gears for you and your better half. Let me keep it short and sweet. Since you said, you went through the thread, I need not elaborate on the quality characteristics of the jackets themselves.

PGS Gear, I reckon very few have used and/or provided a review here. DSG Nero has been tried and tested and has pretty good reviews here. Now, I would suggest you turn to the PGS just for pure value sake. I haven't used them, seen or used them for that matter. Wear both the jackets in person if you can, pick the one which you feel comfortable and fits your size.

Regarding boots, ankle protection coupled with shin protection is the best. As always you don't need the best and spend a fortune on getting protected. My best advice would be the Cortech Latigo Air boots! Else RJays the Tour-AM boots. Those should be your best bet, and yes they can be ridden in an RE.

RYNOX is the one I use, quality is top notch. Go for it your eyes closed in whatever you choose from RYNOX. Excellent customer care, superb products. Though a tad costlier than the average joe, 100% worth the buck.

Future purchase: As I said above, if you like a product, regardless of brand name, and you feel it's worth the buck, go for it. Ultimately it's you/better half who depend on the gears you buy.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Thanks B7ACKTHORN for your quick response.

I have not seen DSG products personally however have seen pics of some on FB and some forums and have noticed fading/ color changing of Nero Jackets. The material used on the PGS jackets don't seem that they will lose color, moreover getting some discount on the MRP, just some.

Thanks for your advise on boots. I am still try to find what kind of protection these boots provide in the ankle area. Shin protection can be done by other means too, hence priority is still to and ankle for boots.

I will surely go for Rynox now since u r using it and vouch for it. But on their Picasa link it seemed to be really big for enfield, will it hinder clear view or maneuvering of bike?

      Thanks.

        Thanks.
The bags are expandable in RYNOX, so maybe the pics you saw perhaps might be in an expanded mode. But that is a plus if you ask me. I don't think it should be of any hindrance!

          Great, thanks

Regarding the boots think i will be going for this one also cause they come in sizes for Women. It will be fun to have all same gears for rider (me) and pillion (wife). I just hope they are not too hot to wear in non-monsoon and non-winter season, though i know i will be rarely going for touring between Mar-July.

Tour Master Solution 2.0 WP Boots - RevZilla - $ 108 ( Rs 5940.00) (not sure if this will be ok for riding RE C500)

Now when is the best time to buy these. I have a office colleague who will be flying there in a week's time for 3 weeks and then I have my cousin coming from there in 2nd week of Dec'12. Do we usually see some great deals and stock clearance post Thanksgiving time ( Nov 23rd 2012)?

          • Just picked up a new helmet for my Duke (pics attached). It's a Vega Gangster offroad helmet, matt black with orange graphics. Picked it up for daily use. I wanted a well ventilated helmet and these off road helmets seem to do the trick. Quite happy with it, picked it up for approx Rs.2000 from Karol Bagh, Delhi. Yipeee! Will be picking up an LS2 soon too. On the jacket front, still waiting for the New Delhi store to stock up on the DSG jackets. It's been a month, still waiting just because I want to try out the size first.

Absolutely, stock clearance is a bonanza if you ask me, plus all the pent up stocks are given at a low price. I don't know about Revzilla, but other websites do have stock clearance clearly mentioned in their website, and have a dedicated link which lists all the stock clearance stuffs.

Best time to buy? When you think it's best time to ride if you ask me If some of your friends/relatives live in US, and plan to go shopping on these Thanksgiving days, to these stores directly, there is very good chance they get even good stuffs at some discounted price.

              Cheers!

Thanks. I did check his profile, that's where I saw this brand and got lead to the companies website. He doesn't have complete stock of all items, hence looking for authorized dealers. None in India, have sent email to the one in Bangkok. Let's see what happens, but nothing to be too anxious about. Already have a pair of knee guards, primarily wanted to share the product with others.

so talking about the jacket first:-
                      features
1.ce certified shoulder and elbow armor which is ventilated for more air flow
2.chest and back are comfort foam and give no protection at all.bionic armor has to purchased seprately
3.all in all 5 pocket .two outer .three inner(two are below chest protection part and one alongside chest protection see pics)none of which is waterproof
4.the zipper is kind of hidden or embedded so it does not scratch the tank which personally i like very much
5.there is zipper inside the jacket to attach riding pants also
6.full front is mesh and about 1/3 of the back is mesh .sleeves upper part is non abrasion and lower part is mesh
7.adjuster for waist and wrists if it is lose
8.very comfortable low profile collar which aids in hot weather to be comfortable
                      9.alpinestar branding on chest,sleeves,back,collar
10.sleeves are precurved for extra comfort
so now the features have been done it is time for pro and cons
                      pros
1.very comfortable in hot weather, air flow is very good.(mesh and ventilated armor)
2.it is not very heavy and does not feel like u have any armor on in terms of weight
3.armor is is ce approved so i think will be useful hope i dont get to test it
4.fit for me was perfect the amor took its place without any hassle and does not move very much just sits perfectly
5.there are 5 pockets which are reasonably large and can store many thing
6.again th zipper is covered so it does not scratch the tank which is very likable
                      cons.
1.no protection again rain and winter
2.no liner and no space for putting one
3.it just cannot be folded and put into a laptop bag(i think i dont know how to so i just stuff it in)
4.no reflective strips tape or anything reflective is absent
again the airflow is very very good very comfortable ,does not feel heavy ,flow tons of air, fits perfectly for me, has many pocket to store so all in all happy with my purchase and my first riding.before buying a saw the revzilla review video they told it is on the the high end mesh jacket.so happy with pricing too..
now its time for the spx gloves

again spx has been a known name and the protection and airflow it offer is very very good just a bit on the heavier side.sizing is very different from other because the dsg i used and axo i used were of large size but i had to but 2xl for the spx to fit me.but again revzilla reviews are very good and they considered spx better than the octane s gloves which dsg just listed.so all in all a god purchase
                      any question are welcome.

I was going through the last 10 pages, once again, since im going gear hunting soon, im seriously considering the a* , the jacket looks good, nice air flow and you have given a detailed review too, but one thing that i couldnt reisit asking, the bio-armour stuff, how is it different from the arour in other jackets, say triton or breezer, and another noob question, this holes/ventilation in the armour, isnt it really kinda making the armour less useful ?
Can someone give an insight towards that.

Aargee, since im considering an a*, and many users are having + reviews, even im asking the same question someone asked before, Why do you feel like that ? Agreed, that there are many fakes out there, but im planning to get it from DSG, and their authorised distributor is at Kochi(Auto Queen), so, woudnt i be able to get the genuine stuff ? or are you hinting that there is a possibilty of getting fakes even from the authorised dealers ?

                      @others,
Guys, as i mentioned im going gear hunting , again.
So my options the requirements are Mesh(its a must),nice armour, and a bit long lasting.
So some of the options im considering.
*Spartan Helios - Its really tempting at the price range and the features, trying to get a few user reviews , so i can give it a priority
*Cramster breezer - Can find loads of reviews, personally know many people who use it and have good opinion, and like most stuff here VFM
                      * Alpine star TGP plus - though VFM is a factor, i don't mind getting an a* well because what it stands for, built quality and peace of mind. But a few hints by some senior members about fakes, is making me think again.

would really be helpful if someone can answer my queries and suggest me some other options if available.

Depends on how deep your pocket is and the practical usability. Spartan Helios and Cramster Breezer should be a good proposition considering the pure VFM they offer. But I'd suggest, if you're looking for a pure mesh jacket, then go for the HELIOS, had a chance to see it in flesh, pretty good jacket and the Breezer side by side.

If your priority is a practical, no fuss, good, cheap-to-the-pocket jacket, go for the HELIOS. If you want more bang for the buck, Breezer is always yours.

Fake A* are flooded in the market, I myself know some retailers who've created a page in FB and go around selling 100% fake stuff, so ditto, that you need eagle eyes to find the difference.

Purchasing the stuff from a genuine reseller gives you peace of mind, warranty if applicable. Yes, you need to cough up for the premium, and as you've quoted, if it gives you peace of mind and the quality you're looking for, then spending that little extra shouldn't be an issue for you.

                          Cheers!

Well, im ready to extend my budget up for the a* , provided i get the original one, i am under the assumption that DSG provides authentic A* stuff , and Auto Queen in Cochin is authirsed dealers of DSG , so i am assuming i can get the original stuff from them ?

The Helios is giving me a very very tough pull, the features of the helios , as described in the photo album , does makes my think that its a great VFM product. Havent made up my mind yet, having already made a mistake once in selecting gears, i dont want to repeat it again. So going to do proper research this time,
Yes, im looking for an everyday use jacket, mesh is compulsory, added liner will be a +ve for me, though the A* doesnt come with removable liner.

                              Cheers!

Yes, Im considering Spartan as a serious option too. Need to do a little more research and asking around.Steering clear from DSG this time.
