hi all,

I want to buy an all weather Riding Jacket with superb protection . Since currently i am based in North hence the temperature goes upto 48 Degrees in summer to 4 degrees in winter.

The jacket should have excellent airflow and superb protection.

I have tried Rjays Octane and found it to be excellent with superb airflow and superb protections just that the weight is high and price is 8000 .
I have seen photos of Alpinestars T-GP Plus Air Jacket online and it seems to be good description wise as well as it is discounted Alpinestars T-GP Plus Air Jacket - 8,499.00Rs.
then there is DSG Nero Jacket for 6,000 DSG Nero Jacket - 5,999.00Rs

Since i have just seen Rjays i want to know how all these three jackets compare with each other ? Guys, please feel free to pur in your knowledge . I am currently in Mumbai Goregaon West and if there is any good shop nearby please let me know

Also if anyone knows any place where i can find Rjays cheaper then 8000 let mw know.

Octane is now priced more or less equal to A* range. I guess it was 7599 when I bought. I can't clearly reckon it's due to global price inflation or the demand perked up price increase, it's just way too much for a basic jacket as teh Octane. Yes looks are good, you get head turns etc etc, but I personally feel, being owned the Octane, 8999 is just way too much.

For that price point, you can get the A* TGP Plus Air, which more or less at the same price point, I'd strongly suggest you to go for the A*, trust me you won't regret. Having work the A* too, it's just excellent to part with.

Go for A* with your eyes closed.

I was once in the same dilemma,
The same Jackets as well .
1. Rjays Octane 2. AlpineStar TGP Plus Air 3.DSG Nero As well.

Finally Settled for Rjays Octane,

Because it had best ventilation in its class had Back Support Compared to A* ( Support has to be fitted Extra). Cost wise it was 1000 Rupees Cheaper to A*.
A* is not waterproof as well. Rjays have provided an Rain Liner for the same.
And my wife suggested it ( she has a better attention to details than me in these cases). The camaflouge design caught my eye as well.

DSG Nero , the shop Guy ( Helmet Paradise, Bangalore) was vouching for it. Has good support on parts but somehow didn't feel ike my cup of tea.

I picked Rjays for 7500 ( I Love the jacket), from Orion Motors Bangalore. Why don't you check in Bachoo Motors Mumbai, they are the ones who distribute Rjays here. Should get for the same price.


Let us know, once you settle on the one of your choice..

Bachoo Motors retail their jackets at 8999 current price, perhaps resellers would be able to sell at the old price of 7500. It's really good that you've gotten yourself a nice jacket at that price. Do post your reviews and photos without fail.

Visited Cramster Shoppee and decided on Blaster gloves(1.5k, leather) and knee guard (1.5k). I'm unable to decide between mesh Breezer, K2K and Eclipse jackets. Eclipse is hybrid and has leather pieces, so I'm leaning towards it. But is it worth the 7.5k? Or is anything better available at that price point? Rjays Octane is 9k, but for 1.5k more I can import better full leather jackets from some US websites, so I don't see the point of paying 9k for it.

Stick to the ones your budget allows. Stay away from RJays for at least now, I paid 7599 for the same jacket, so no point spending so much. If you can get yourself a leather jacket abroad, that seems a good proposition. Eclipse is an excellent jacket, coupled with generous leather bits on arm, shoulder etc, absolutely worth it. Speaking about ball game of mesh jackets alone costing 8k, 7.5k leather is just pure VFM

Spartan Helios is a mesh jacket, with the same spec as other mesh jackets. Comes with a removable rain liner, remove it and it becomes a complete mesh for pure airflow.

HJC is a pretty budget and good helmet, import duties may differ sometimes it may cost 1000 bucks or even more depending upon the value of the goods you buy, it's based on the value of the goods you buy, the more it's in dollar terms, the more you have to pay.

Riding boots

Hi all,

I am planning to buy riding boots - main purpose is to wear it on daily office commute (and therefore more interested in the shorted variety) and also for hill-rides. Looking at options available in India, I have shortlisted the following:

1. Rjays Urban (short) @5999
2. Rjays Fuel (Short) @Rs. 6999
3. RJays Highway (long) @6899
4. Alpinestar S-MX1 (short) @8900
5. Joe Rocket Sonic R (long) @8500
6. Orazo Picus (short) @2600

I am particularly interested in Rjays Fuel and Alpinestar S-MX1 out of the above in particular. So, I would appreciate if people who have used any of these could give some feedback.

1. Do the shorter boots still provide decent protection especially around ankles for normal road riding?
2. Are they waterproof/water-resistant (not as per 'spec' but personal feedback)?
3. How is the toe and heel protections in both of these?
4. Do you think the S-MX1 are worth the price in terms of quality, comfort and protection as against Rjays?
5. How is the fit - esp. of S-MX1 as these do not have anything to tie in the upper area...
6. Would the fact that the Rjays bioots are water/wind resistant and therefore would be too hot or comfortable in summer etc.?
7. S-MX1 seem to be have better airflow - but will that be a problem in winters or hill-rides - Also, they do not seem to be water-resistant.. ?

One of our member named Akshay here in our thread uses RJays Highway boot, and he's been all praises about the boot. He's used it for hundreds of KMs and found it to be comfortable with good ventilation and protection. Water-resistant to an extent, not 100% complete waterproof nor is any boot out there, except gumboots, someway or the other other water is gonna seep through, be it any boot.

Now to short or long completely depends on one's comfort level and practicality, if you intend to use it for office wear, I'd suggest you go for something practical such as Sprint or the Urban, Urban because of leather uppers, offers good abrasion resistance. The Urban too is being by one of my friend, and he too is pretty much satisifed with the boot, although he complained about the boot needing some time to set in.

My take, I'd suggest go for the Highway boot, it's leather, it's a full boot, plus you get water-resistance to an extent on those rainy days. If you want for practicality, then Urban and Spring. For Office I'd strongly suggest the Urban.

+1 to what VJ mentioned. I have been using RJays Highway boots for more than a year now & have been completely satisfied with its performance in terms of comfort & water resistant ability. To mention I stay in Goa & has the worst of the rains here. RJays Highway does a good job keeping the water out.

On the other aspect I would tell you to wear both (long & short) boots & see where your comfort zone lies. I will prefer taller boots as they provide better protection than short ones.

I've been using the Nero jacket for about 2 yrs now, and am happy with it (except the fact that it is too thick for summers).

This pant was launched months back, and pretty good VFM. Recently we had a riders meet and one of them happen to wear this pant, real chic fit and good pant. Though I've never worn it, it has a thermal liner, which acts kind of an all-weather pant. Good go, I'd say.

I have a lot of friends having the same riding pant & they are not so happy with the build quality. Tears at the areas that can embarrass you in public very badly. Look for other options preferably in Spartan

Perhaps Akshay is true. He has a lot of biker buddies, as opposed to whom I've met, on a G2G as he meets them on a daily basis. And moreover I don't think many people incline towards the DSG Pants.

Spartan might be a good proposition, though I personally haven't got to wear them, plus more or less offers some goodies when compared to DSG, with a removable wind/rain liner plus a thermal liner, which effecitively makes it two.

Do forgive me if the same opinion have been voiced before.

Guys I have bought myself an Rjays Octane at 7599Rs from Orion Motors Bangalore couple of months back.
(He gave a hefty discount of 99Rs , due to my persuasion)

Was so lazy to post my Outputs now, better late than never right ?

I don't have a pic right now to post on the Jacket, I went for the Camouflaged version.

It looks way better in real than in this Pic ( not that the pic is bad, and was not able to upload the Pic).

As posted earlier I was looking at AlpineStar TG-Plus Air at 8599 , DSG Nero and RJays Swift as well.
