Since you mentioned its the RJays Swift, I'm assuming that the armours were polyurethane foam. PU has a tendency to harden and get brittle when not used and exposed to certain atmospheric conditions. It also has a shelf life of about three to four years. The same thing happened to my Joe Rocket and Fieldsheer jackets. You will need to get the armours replaced, that's all. Ask the dealer to get them for you.

The same material degradation happens to shoes which use polyurethane soles.

    • SPent 20k buying DSG gears. Noticed the gloves coming off just weeks after purchased. Contacted both the store and DSG via email.
2 months later, still no reply.. Followed up on Facebook and i got a "We'l check on it" last week. Still no response. The dealer says they're only responsible for manufacturing defects at the time of purchasing, so they can't help. I dont mind them but what pisses me off is DSG ignoring a customer complaint just like that.. :-/

      • Purchased & got delivery of these gloves from eBay today :

I had the ProBiker glove too. Donated it to a building mate as they were very very uncomfortable for my thumb and finger joints.

For 600rs these gloves looks decent.
The comfort level is very much better than those ProBiker.

        The Packing :

        The Overall look.
Really look good, don't look that cheap.

Ventilation holes and comfort thumb area without any added rubber or plastic over it.

        A good wrist adjustment chap.

        The upper protection stuff.
Really hard on above and cushioned inside to handle those jerks on hand.

        Looks comformatble.

And yea I've got a pair of Fox Knee Protector Raptor too.
The quality is not impressing as many members said here but I guess it will work for me for next 3-4 months atleast so I've got time to collect money for Knee Guard & jacket.

I saw these ankle shoes on eBay, Might be useful if any of you wanna try for that Price :

Dont want to sound discouraging, but these kind of gloves offer the least amount of protection possible. The fabric on the palms will not stand upto a fall from the bike. These kind of gloves are meant for MTB and BMX and at the most for sports like carting and mild motor cross. I speak from the experience of having torn up my hands with fabric gloves years ago. Motorcycle gloves demand leather or Lorica ( or another leather substitute) on the palms to take the impact of a fall without shredding. I can understand from your post that your available resources dictated that something was better than nothing. Unfortunately in this case it's only slightly better than nothing.

Please take the time to read through this thread for advice on gear from hundreds of experienced and veteran bikers who will be more than happy to share their experiences with you. it may help you use your money more prudently next time.

          • I would request you (& all) to avoid using that Gloves for touring purpose!!! yes for City & Short ride this gloves can do there job (when you are riding in mid torque range), and I doubt this gloves quality too, by spending some odd300 rs you can get a good Scoyo Mesh gloves which atleast can provide a basic protection when in case you skid. And Pro Biker has better protection then this gloves in any way though there fabric seems to be worst quality but still its about protection then look.

And now a day's you can get a Good quality Riding Gloves starting from 2,000 rs, I've bought DSG Carbon for 2750 rupees which can easily last for 3 years regular use (5 years too) , which is indeed a very good deal itself.

Rjay's & DSG just cost you 2500/- which can last as much as you want, very good quality gloves, but again I would recommend to stay away from fake A* gloves cost aroudn 1.5k - 3k....

            Correct me member's no A* gloves comes for as cheap as 1.5k - 3k ? Right ?

I know its not worth the protection we need after a crash but I just purchased them as a substitute for 2 months.

I don't need to collect money even now :P
From Feb, I'll be saving 2.5k each month from my rent only
The new home = Lesser rent from here :P

Than I guess I can go for Reliable Gloves, Jacket, shoes.

              • Gloves for winter - what do you use?

                Hi all,

I am currently using the Alpinestar GP-X short gloves for daily riding - excellent gloves with very good protection and lots of air-flow but in winters, the air-flow becomes a problem and chills the hands in Delhi temperature.

Would like some suggestions - what do people use in winters or when you ride to Himalayas - is there any good thermal gloves that are thin enough to be worn under the normal riding gloves, or can someone recommend a good winter riding glove ( I cannot get gloves from US so please suggest locally available options only).

Any help in this regard will be appreciated as I need some options good enough for ride to Himalayas as well...

With the current Delhi temperature, even my TRG2 is not enough, when I went to Spiti, surgical gloves helped me, but for Himalayas, you need to have thermal gloves, contact Meandring India (Vasant Kunj), he had few in stock, try and have a look. You can wear your SP-X over that

I have a desi elaaj. in Delhi winter I used to apply little bit of sarson ka tel. worked wonderfully.
it used to make my fingers move easily in the early morning Delhi chill.
I know it smells bad but you can always spray or apply some good smelling agent laters.

I personally find that cheap and best.

Give a look at DSG Acqua gloves. I have been using those lately and believe me, they qualify to be one of the best winter gloves. I am really liking them so far, been using them for almost a thousand kms.

Wouldn't leather gloves be the best for winters ? and about aqua, have read some bad reviews about that gloves in this thread itself, it was about it's waterproofing abilities though.

Ok.. will try surgical gloves for short term solution. I plan to visit a few biking gear shops in Delhi so I will probably buy Cramster Tundra if they feel good.

Interesting option that . But not sure how the mustard oil will react with my leather riding gloves.. And as you said, I really do hate the smell of mustard oil...

Krishna - most leather riding gloves I have seen are ventialated - just like my Alpinestar GPX so not too comfortable in Delhi winters at speeds of 60+...

I have also read a few not too good reviews of Acqua in terms of comfort and their ability to keep the hands warm.. Will try them out and compare them to Tundra if I could find them both in shops..

Are there any other option - like warm thermal inner gloves that can be worn inside riding gloves - much like surgical gloves option but something that could also trap heat... ?

I have seen thermal inner liners in the US at a store called Dick's Sporting Goods. They were quite thin and you can easily wear gloves over them. I have not seen anything like them in India though. You can try and source them from some US sites that ship internationally.

                            Dick's Sporting Goods

Edit: You can get them shipped to India using one of the PPO Box services. May turn out expensive though you can keep this option as a last resort if nothing else works out.

                            • URGENT- Riding Jacket, PLEASE HELP!

                              Greetings, fellow bikers!

I'll cut to the chase- Been searching for my 1st riding jacket and have been in a dilemma thanks to this offer goin on courtesy Bachoo Motors-
RJays Swift Jacket-special offer price of INR 4,999 for grey/black and INR 5,499 for red/black, blue/black upto 5th January, 2013
                              instead of MRP 6,999

If this is a good deal vis-a-vis my requirements and budget below, I'll have to rush tomorrow and purchase it. Else, I'm rummaging through the last 50 posts on this thread to consider other options

I want a mesh jacket, no leather one. If there's any other combo that works better in tropical climes, please suggest

                              Now, my requirements are-
                              1. Safety and Comfort in equal measure
                              2. Ventilation- Should be a better summer jacket than a winter/ monsoon one (I live in Bombay which is hot n humid for atleast 9 months a year)
                              3. Not too heavy (Had tried the Cramster Breezer 4 which I found tad heavy and too stiff for comfort)

                              Budget- 5k - 7k.
(Though am tempted to set an upper limit of 10k, there is a serious probability of me taking a big break from biking later this year, hence...)
I'm willing to stretch only if I get a product that's superlative and really pays back the extra moolah

                              Riding
Mostly city, with minimal touring. 30-40 % highway riding. Might do the occasional long-trip..

What I need from ya'll right now is to tell me (within 24 hrs please ) if the RJays Swift is good enough for me. Else I can take my time and decide...
