I'm using RJays swift for the past 5-6 months.
+ve
Built quality
CE approved ptotectors
Looks good
Really good ventilation
Water proof liner

-Ve
Foam back protector
No chest protection
No waterproof pockets
Even with waterproof liner you will get wet(water enters through neck area)
RJays is written in a way it reads AJays (now it sounds desi and cheap)

For 5k its a VFM product especially good for hot climates.

Thanks for the quick summary...So there's absolutely no chest protection? That's a concern...Does the Helios have it? In my hasty research, couldn't find any jacket in this range that explicitly mentions chest protectors. Request senior members to throw light on this subject- isn't it critical if you land on your belly on the tarmac?
Maybe they want Rjays to look like Astar with that logo

I agree that there's no such 100% waterproof jacket., hence I said the jacket needs to be excellent in summers.
I'm actually leaning towards the Spartan Helios which looks like good VFM for the price. And the armours are upgradeable to Knox according to Sunnyside_up! who endorses the jacket

Though the Breezer is one of the most feature packed and has all possible liners, it lacks that finesse and sophistication. I've seen Swift while I was buying my Airoh helmet at Bachoo, which seemed lighter and had better quality but didn't try it

BTW, can anyone point me to a review of the DSG Phoenix? Couldn't find any recent review ...seemed like a good competitor to the Helios and Swift

Just to clarify - the Helios is now available in two versions, one with the regular CE protectors of the type found in the RJays, and the other with KNOX as a standard. EDIT : Spartan ProGear has also just launched a premium mesh jacket called the HYPERION, which is a perforated 1.2 mil Brazilian Hide leather and mesh combination with KNOX as the standard armour in the elbows and shoulders for Rs.7499/-. I will post some pics soon.

hye guys !

I recently got my gloves and knee pads.
The gloves - Alpinestars SMX-2 Air Carbon from Orion Motors in Banglore. I tried on the DSG and RJAYS gloves they had but neither fit very well, and that was my primary requirement. Though these are expensive, they fit amazingly well, so decided to go for it. And I have to say, they feel amazing while riding. My hand doesn't get hot and sweaty at all. And you can really grip the bars without applying undue pressure.


The pads are AXO pads. They fit alright compared to the FOX one's, that's why went for them. The are pretty tight and seem to be alright. Obviously, they are cheap, and the padding inside isnt all the great, but will add some foam inside myself. The problem I have with them is that the insides of the pads hit a plastic part on my bike, scratching it slightly when i try holding the tank. Not sure what to do to get rid of this, any idea anyone ? How can I stop this from happening ?

Some duct tape on the inner parts of the knee pads will do the trick. You can also use some Carbon Fibre finish vinyl on the bike to protect it. The more expensive solution would be to use StompGrip strips but they would cost more than the knee-pads!

Don't want to go the duct tape way, it might restrict movement, as the sides of the pads have a sliding mechanism. So, its either the carbon fibre vinyl or stompgrip/gripster tank pads. And I don't think either of those 2 are available in India. The vinyl will sort of spoil the look of the bike.

That looks do-able ! As its on the plastic for me, it wont even look very bad. Lets see how it goes !

It seems ironic don't you think, that you're considering spending 3500 bucks on some material to protect your bike from getting scratched because you didn't want to spend more than 800 bucks on protecting your own knees?

If I were you, I would have sprung for better knee guards in the first place, like Thor Quadrant or Forcefield Limb tubes, which can be worn under your jeans and hence would not come in contact with the bike directly to scratch it. Better still I would consider dedicated riding pants for a little bit more and give myself even better protection, in addition to not having to stick stuff on my bike.

You are right, no doubt about that ! I did see (some) of those knee guards, most cost around a 100 dollars. But yeah, I could just change my knee guards instead of sticking something on. Will look into how much that comes into with shipping. The main reason I didn't do it yet, was I wanted to wear the guards and see how they fit first. These AXO's where one of the 2 that I was able to try out, and I needed them for a trip, and since they cost around 800 (I didnt get them off ebay), I thought why not. Is there any place in India where Thor/Forcefield/Alpinestars/Fox Racing pads can be bought ? Same things go for pants, if they dont fit well, they are no use. Most pants are above 100$, I dont mind spending that much, but I would definitely want to wear it and see before I put the money down.

Guys : need some inputs. I have been using RJays riding pants for a year now. Though not too happy with the way they have aged (tear at fork for both me n another 2 friends) the protective part still remains ok.

A recent spurt of incidents have left me desirous of upgrading my knee protection: I am now considering wearing knee guards also in addition to the pants (either over the pants or inside).

Any thoughts on same and can you pl recommend ideal knee guards for such a scenario? No specific budget in mind but should be available locally in India.

Just bought them a week back from eBay. Still in packet, haven't used them.

The image on internet looks good but actual build quality very different.

But yes there is no other option even till 1.5k to 1.8k.

So for 800bucks, they are good to start with and to save from some crashes.
