DSG Aero fits the budget but personally like the looks aspect for Scoyco JK 17 which also falls within the same range.

Regarding the helmet would the Studds Scorpion / Rhyno offer decent protection?

For gloves I could extend the range to 1000 but then would want something longer lasting.

Sorry but as a college student have loads of budget constraints.
Thanx, well it's the same case here as i am a college student as well
I had earlier tried to source scoyoco jk17 due to prateek2210 review[http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...tml#post460440], however found out that scoyoco was not much available due to a dealer issue & if it's still available at the same cheap price of 3k-3.5k then awesome else if the DSG Aero falls in your budget then i will surely recommend that you try Spartan Icarus as well if you could at

jk17 is indeed a very good jacket but since you said touring then jk27 would suit your need more as jk17/dsg aero/spartan icarus are mainly commuter jackets but should hold well in light touring. In case of gloves, i guess B7ACKTHORN & other members can help you more.tc

@B7ACKTHORN- yup, that's why i said he could get discount over the commuter pro-biker gloves for 390-400 at the stores instead of regular 500 if he either bargains or just gets them from sites like snapdeal/ebay which are providing at cheap rates though dunno about quality & what do you think about the Teknic Supervent mesh jacket [ link provided earlier] for $170, i think it's pretty VFM for KNOX lite armour at elbow & shoulder as well as foam padding for other areas like rib cage & more

Hey, man. A few pages back, I have posted pictures of my Scorpion. It's an amazing helmet. The padding is good, plus it comes with Tan protection visor which is really good if your riding is limited to day. In city you can risk riding with your visor open[wear glasses for protection], or I think the clear visors of Ninja 3g should be a direct fit for for scorpion. I will find out and let you know. During my buy, the shopkeeper told me the visor would cost 500, I guess he was telling about the prices of the black visor. Anyways, like I said, padding is superior, and it fits me really well around my cheeks. Heavy wind noises when riding on highways though, particularly during crosswinds. Again, I ride without a balaclava, I wouldn't know if that would help in cancelling those noises. I am planning on getting these 3m earplugs[rs 150] and checking, will keep you posted. Rhyno is another good option and I think is almost cheaper by 500 compared to scorpion, dint get a chance to check out it's padding though.

I am also a student and with the limited money allowance, I think Scorpion is the best helmet we can get in that price range. I got it for 1900 here in Hyderabad i.e. 150 extra over the website price. This guy was the only one having this helmet, and probably was the last one he had. He said people don't prefer these premium helmets from Studds and that Ninja is very popular. I spent over 2 months looking for this helmet and Rhyno. It even came to a pont where I decided to order it online. Lady luck struck and I found this helmet in one corner shops

Gloves, I think you will get DSG's motomesh in that range. Decent ones. I haven't tried the pro biker gloves. I recently got DSG Revive. Killer pair, but way above your budget. Now, I have almost saved up for the jacket, little more to go.

My parents don't like the idea of me spending so much on riding gear. They gave me 1500 for a helmet and I came home with one costlier by 400. Also there was an heated argument in my house when they saw I spent over 2k for gloves, there was all those "What are you? A stunt rider? Racer?" rants, but in the end it meant nothing because I had spent my own money on it and the jacket will be coming the same way. A small suggestion: You can try earning a little by working part, doing some promotional events and stuff. Seriously it helps. These days they pay good too, just get in touch with a PR agency in your town. Seriously, the better riding gear you buy, safer you will feel and you will be.

STUDDS Scorpion and RHYNO are by far the best helmets at that range. Period.

When it comes to gloves, always go for leather if you can extend your budget.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

So far the helment has been finalized. Been a great help.

@ Aditya I tried A H Helmets but they don't have the Scoyco jackets. Have contacted Mr. Devgun for the same as their website is down. He's in ladakh so will try to figure about the jacket when he's back.

Gloves I'll wait up and save some more.

Thank you for the idea of part time. It had struck me earlier but due to exam timings has always been a pain.

So the Scoyco JK 27 seems like a much better deal right?

          Thank you again everyone.

Indeed if you want a good jacket with good no. of vent & pockets but is also well protective in cold climates too, rest is upto you when you check them both & decide your mind besides you can also check their other stuff at http://www.scoyco.com/en/.best of luck.tc

They have pants but they aren't for street use per se. Scoyco is basically focused on cycling and motocross. I have one of their gloves it's been six years still friggin in one piece and still use for cycling. It just doesn't rip and it's almost the best cheap gloves I've ever bought. Rode on cycles, motorcycles, and while playing cricket.

The one I have is bicycle gloves, and cut the finger slots to half for motorcycle feel and it's still going..... going..... and going.

                Cheers!

Vega also seems to have launched a helmet similar to the Studds Scorpion/Rhyno. I came across one showpiece a couple of months ago here. Personally, i dont like Vega but Quality was on par to that of my LS2 helmet and padding is also good. Cost quoted was 2K, however apparently it was only meant of display and is not being sold yet. You might want to check whether Vega has launched the new model of helmets or not.

Just got my first riding gear from AH Helmets, Oshiwara (Nr. Infinit Mall, next to Good Year Tyres), Mumbai.
Got the Spartan Helio Jacket for Rs. 6300/- and Scoyco MC10 Gloves for 850/- and Motul Engine Oil 7100 20W50 1 liter + 1 liter for 1500/- after xbhp discount. The palce seemed nice with lots of varieties for helmets, riding gear, accessories etc. The hosts and the owner were really helpful too.
He took my xbhp id for his reference.

There isn't so called "SPECIFIC" jackets for commuting, office or touring. The best one can get the both for all three of them is summer jackets which have removable liners and the shell is just plain mesh with armor.

Now your shirt getting crumpled or not getting crumpled depends on the fit you choose. Choose a little loose fit, you get a little comfort, choose a little snugger fit, you JUST MIGHT have your shirts crumpled due to normal movement. But I guess that shouldn't be a problem.

You can use NERO pretty effectively for normal commuting. Remove the liners, and wear the jacket plain mesh that should be your best bet.

On a lighter side, I guess you're a little deep pocketed guy. Wearing one for office, one for commute......

Make the best use of the jacket you currently have, it can be worn on all three ways depending on the needs.

                            Cheers!

Dude for city as of now the best Jacket ive seen is either the Rjays Jetstream II Rs. 9,000 at BAchoo motors, Mumbai and other is Rjays Swift...Rs. 6,000 at bachoo, Mumbai...!!

Both the jackets are very light and zippy for both touring ans city riding....!!
I use the Swift for city riding and for harsh weather touring i have a DSG Triton....!! Triton becomes a little too much for city coz its bulky and too thick to be worn even without a liner plus its long from the rear as its a complete tourer apparel.....Rjays is a great choice for city riding....very compact and great fit...!!!
