And a possible fact is that the CBR 250, is the first proper sport bike for a many of the enthusiasts[Barring the r15 owners]

A friend is in USA for a week more and have to make a final decision on which boot tp get. Any advise would be helpful. Have shortlisted the below

      FirstGear Kili Lo WP Boots - 2013 :: MotorcycleGear.com

These are short, but have hard toe, hell and ankle protector. Only missing the shin protector. Lace protector. USB is that it will be worn more often as its not really high boot and can pass along as normal under jeans. $108 - INR - 7200.00

Similar category boots in Rjays are Urban ( INR 6900 ) and Fuel (INR 7700) but neither is in my size ( size 43/9)

      Tour Master Solution 2.0 Boots :: MotorcycleGear.com

These are long boots, hard toe, heel and ankle protector + Shin Guard. Long boots and hence usage might be lesser and only for touring purpose which I dont do that much.
      $117 - INR 7707

Similar boots in Rjays is the Tour AM ( RJays Tour Am Boot - Bachoo Motors) for INR 8500.00 but again my size not available

Any suggestions guys. Will have to order today as he is there only for a week and it needs to be shipped to him

I am on the lookout for boots as well and wondering what were the parameters you considered in shortlisting these (Other than being waterproof). Although I have no comments on these boots themselves, wanted to give you a word or two of advice on getting it shipped from the USA based on my previous experiences.

        1. Sizing varies for different brands. Sizing charts may not be very accurate. What has always worked for me is emailing/calling the chaps over at Revzilla and asking for advice on the exact sizing (They have always helped me with accurate size to get). Reason being you have no option to return them back.
        2. Shipping within a week also depends on where you buy from (and the shipping option). From the pricing of these boots, you will get free shipping. What helps is to know where these are getting shipped from. For eg, Revzilla ships from Philadelphia,Pennsylvania (or atleast in most cases) and Motorcycle-superstore ships from Louisville, Kentucky. Your best bet is to decide in ordering from the website that's closest to the state where your friend is staying.
        3. Options - I am a newbie when it comes to riding gear & generally take the help of folks at Revzilla to help me shortlist riding gear ( have bought jacket, gloves, balaclava from them)

Apologies if this reply wasn't very helpful in your decision.

        Cheers

I use a protective riding jacket during long trips but find it a little too conspicuous for use in the city/ for commutes to office.
So, am planning to buy an ordinary windcheater (jacket without armour) for everyday use.

I do a bit of riding in the dark and my current jacket's reflective stripes help (atleast provide some peace of mind).

I would like to have similar level of visibility with the new everyday riding jacket, so any suggestions of jackets that match my requirements?

Also how bout using 3M reflective tape that is available on Ebay? If anyone has tried this can you please comment on durability?

Well below are the list of parameters in the order of priority that i considered

            1. Ankle Protection on both sides
            2. Hard reinforcement on toe and heel area
            3. Leather
            4. Price ( seriously limiting to close to $100 )
            5. Shin protection
            6. Touring which can let fair amount of walking ( not hiking or long walks )

I did check with the reps at Revzilla and motorcyclegear for sizing and more information on product.

You are absolutely correct on shipping part and I will check with both on that before ordering as the price is same on both of them with a $5.00 credit for next purchase.

I was also looking for a balaclava for summer time, maybe you can help with that

Any suggestion on the shortlisted items or an alternative within the same price range will be helpful. But over all if these boots are not VFM for what they cost then also would like to hear that view.

Use a reflective vest and wear it over your wind cheater.
                1) Won't spoil you jacket like those tapes will.
                2) Ride without it during day time[You look like a cop/contract sweepers :P]
                3) Cheaper alt.
I got this vest for 75 bucks from local market.

I would suggest the RJays because its a proper boot. The other one could as easily be substituted with a pair of basketball shoes from Adidas or Reebok.

I am sorry but you might be wrong there to compare them with a pair of basketball shoes.

The Rjays Tour AM boot is spec to spec similar to the Tour Master Solution 2.0 in my understanding unless there is something I am missing gravely

I apologise - I didn't explain myself properly. The RJays or TourMaster are proper boots meant and designed for motorcycling. The other FirstGear version is more like a grown up pair of basketball shoes - hi-tops with some additional strength and features if you will. Ankle protection in that pair is just some padding over the ankle to mitigate impact and is an abused phrase by many manufacturers who just put some padding into shoes which cover the ankle. Real ankle protection prevents the ankle from being twisted and pushed into un-natural angles in a fall. Real boots also protect your Achilles' tendon, while shorties are....well, too short! Hardened toe and heel in a shorty designed for comfort, can never be as secure and solid as a boot.

The FirstGear product is more aimed at light urban use that can be used for riding while the other two would be more dedicated riding gear. I don't mean to put down any product - and have a pair of these shorties myself - not the same brand - which I do use very rarely for commuting. I say rarely because they are overkill for light commuting and too light themselves for touring.

just brought RYNOX RAMPAGE Gloves.. the price was 1700rs..
rode it for around 15-17 kms and these are really good.. for me its a jump from Cross textile Gloves and these feel very nice.. the leather, stitching is really nice.. at this price point, Rampage is a good investment..

I'd suggest you to look at the full sized boot as opposed to the short ones. Trust me, at times you'd have thought it'd been a wiser decision to go for a full boot. I'd suggest for complete peace of mind, regarding sizing or untoward any events, you can replace your stuff if your reseller is in India.

Try getting a good helmet or leather apparel from abroad if you intend too, because it's comparatively cheaper sourcing these items directly than purchasing them from India.

                          Cheers!

The min priced riding jacket is SPG Icarus at 4300/- but then it is a VFM product at its cost.

A better and easier solution is to purchase a riding jacket and then buy a rainwear of a size bigger to wear it over the jacket
