Basically, it can be either leather or textile when it comes to Jackets. Then you have Mesh and Cordura mostly in textile jackets, sometimes a mix of both.

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I came across this guy in Commercial Street who is willing to do it for me. You can approach him, he is on one of the bylanes adjacent to Woodys, though I don't recall his shop name. I didn't have to search for armors, as I will use the ones from my Cramster and interchange the armors between the leather and the textile jacket as needed (rainy seasonsOriginally posted by Sal View PostMate, i had the similar idea of getting a custom leather jacket done, but couldn't find the right guy to do it.
I had a particular Jacket in my mind (Wolverine Origins jacket :P
Had given the same idea to a friend of mine, and he had got it done (same pattern jacket) somewhere in Kerala, and the work done was flawless (but it was non-armored).
Could you tell me, if there is someone who could do it in Bangalore? And what about the armors, how to source them? Would SPG provide only armors?
)
I guess you too can reuse the armors from your existing jacket, or can get the armors from Knox. Sunny bhai, or VJ may be able to point you in the right direction.Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Quick Question: Are Orazo boots retailing anywhere in Bangalore? Do Orion Motors stock them? or are they available online?
Thanks all.

I didnt believe them. Not duped as yet. While I know many people swear by the ORIGINAL A* goods. Does it make any difference compared to a Spartan Balaclava.Originally posted by prateek2210 View PostYou are already duped . It made you think that A* can be sold at 250 bucks :P

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
What difference does it make? Branded, Unbranded or Fake branded, at the end of the day, it's just an undergarment, meant to be worn under the helmet. I'd take the originality seriously if it had some exposure to the elements, but a balaclava isn't exposed to any of the elements, doesn't face a risk of abrasion. All it does is keep you warm and absorb sweat. Can someone tell me why not to opt for a Rs.200 balaclava?Originally posted by prateek2210 View PostYou are already duped . If by rs. 200, u were referring to the ones with a marked price of rs.200 that are given away at several helmet stores as freebies then these are the differences:
Thicknesses and texture are way to different, this adds to rider comfort on longer rides
The porous (ness
) for dust to come in is more on those cheap balaclavas than premium ones
Premium don't make ur hairfall as much as the others ( no scientific basis for this point just an observation from my end)
And finally premium ones do look better

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I don't feel comfortable wearing one while riding, so never used them but recently picked up one from commercial street for a buddy. It was reasonably thick, but a perfect fit under his helmet and warm. The quoted price was 300. We bargained and got it for 200 bucks. It was an unbranded one. I haven't seen what helmet shops offer as freebies - atleast Helmet paradise didn't offer me one with my LS2Originally posted by snehithpereira View PostBtw u do get good balaclavas for Rs. 200, LGU sells them, can't recall the brand though. snehithpereira it was mototech and it cost 250 Rs. and it's worth the money.Originally posted by snehithpereira View PostBtw u do get good balaclavas for Rs. 200, LGU sells them, can't recall the brand though. ( @nooblet , @Srvn IIRC u guys picked it up)

The one that comes free with helmets is absolutely useless, I used both on my west coast ride and I couldn't use the free balaclava for more than 30 min's it was drenched in sweat and it was very irritating to wear it.
The mototech one I used it for 3 days without even washing it
, it was very good at absorbing the sweat and was comfortable even after a long ride.
I could give more details, but I would keep things short, and say you get what you pay for....the mototech one is worth it.

I really think I should. There seems to be a war going on at the helmets thread over the Axor!Originally posted by snehithpereira View Postask the owner why new vega axxor is better than SOL

A good question, but a good balaclava does have many property which a fake one for the same price wont offer.
The softness of the cloth, the ability to absorb sweat and not transfer it to the helmet, and it should not give any rashes onto the skin, should not be suffocating type once worn. Considering a such options it is better to get a branded one like spartan(250-300) rather than some knock off stuff at the same rate.
I use the spartan balaclava and would recommend it, it is very soft on the skin, can be worn without problems for long rides, the sweat is absorbed nicely and keeps the helmet from having that "used" smell
Cheers
