          hi guys,

I am in search for new gloves.
I had been in an accident recently in which the gloves were damaged badly.

I had been using Ares full gauntlet gloves from spartan pro gear.
          Spartan ProGear

I was avoiding a barricade put on right lane in highway in night when the accident happened. The barricade was made of just rods without any reflective stickers and also without any flat surface so that it can be noticed from far away.

One of rod directly hit my two fingers which were doing the job of braking. Due to the same impact i had fractures in those fingers and three cuts(two on middle finger and one on index finger).

Now i am looking new pair of gloves. Please advice.

As the accident happened with me i am looking for something which will protect my finger joints too. KTM gloves has that written on them, but i doubt them.
I can relate to cricket batting gloves which have lot of padding to prevent the fingers from impact from ball.

I feel sad for the misfortune you faced due to the carelessness of those who were working on that site. I hope you are doing well now. Ares is one of the best quality Indian gloves you can get. It also offers good protection. But your crash was one of a kind, not the usual falling on the ground and skidding. In your case, probably the rods have penetrated through your gloves like a spear. I don't think so that any of the gloves out there will sustain this kind of impact. On the brighter side, Ares has probably saved your other hand from impact and scars. Actually, no glove can withstand this kind of impact from sharp objects as these objects tends to penetrate through the gloves. If possible, please upload the picture of your damaged glove, so people here can identify the nature of the impact and may suggest you better options.

            Please get well soon mate.

Ares is one of the best gloves in that price range and the armors/sliders on fingers of any other brand (DSG, RYNOX) is similar to it. The reason I am saying this is because no matter which gloves you go for, if the impact is too violent, you will damage some part of your hand. In my opinion, you should get a good knuckle guard affixed to protect the fingers. The knuckle-protectors not only save fingers in case of crash, but also helps in protecting the rider from cold winds.
Knuckle protectors with decent gloves will save you any day in any kind of situation.

The barricade was similar to the one in following pic.

They are very difficult to spot from far away and can only be noticed when you are near. Had never expected them to be put in highway and that too in right lane-down-slope where average speed is generally around 80kmph. The left most vertical rod hit directly on my first two fingers. It was the impact.
Generally bike gloves are made for prevention in case of sliding and not impact. My gloves doesn't have any skid marks which suggests that my hands didn't skid on tarmac. The damage was by impact of rod only.

Following are the pics of my gloves. You can see the tears in the pic. The long cut on thumb side is due to cutting of gloves to take my hand out of it.

Anyways coming to the point, I was thinking whether a glove can made by mixing a cricket batting glove and our normal gloves.

I am also thinking of putting hand guards on my duke200 which comes standards on duke 390.

I know Ares is one of the best. I was using it for same reason. It was very comfortable. The knuckle protection is very good in Ares and other similar gloves. I am talking about the finger joints which make the finger bend. I fell the finger joints are not well protected in the current bike gloves.

Brother, must say, that was a nasty crash. But the good thing is that you are ok. I think the gloves did their job pretty well by not letting the damage further to your hand. I tell you what, no glove out there offers such protection except the recent Alpinestars, where you have connected pinky finger and ring finger. You can not move either of them independently. But that's about it. You will be better off with another pair of the same gloves or you can wait for a recent new launch from Rynox. Then there is Zeus too. They all are almost similar. Please ride carefully this time mate.

now since you want an all weather jacket, you must first decide whether you want a mesh jacket or a non-mesh jacket. mesh jacket will be better in summer and non-mesh will be better in winter. so decide accordingly.

DSG Nero has a thermal liner, you can check the website or call the Planet DSG guys. i am using one.

personally i liked nero better that phoenix & breezer.
Same here ....I am also using dsg nero and it has a thermal line .

Thats exactly what I meant. Get your bike fixed with knuckle guards and go for the same type of gloves. You wont regret it.The power parts hand guards are better than those on D390, but both will serve the purpose of protecting your fingers. Happy riding and speedy recovery.

Please invest in some full gauntlet gloves like Ares, TRG2, Rynox Kombat, Rynox Inferno, Zeus Highway Rider if safety is of paramount. You are better off with these, or else be prepared to shell out around 5K or more on quality Astars. Sizing charts are available on different sites. Please check with the seller. Devesh, well we are glad that you are mostly in one piece and the gloves did mostly what they were supposed to. Get better soon.

Let's Gear Up from Bangalore has their own brand of riding gear being developed. Their most recent offering is a full gauntlet gloves called Track Breed GP Pro. I have tried these on (though I wasn't looking to buy them at that point) and I didnt feel like taking them off. They also seem to have ample protection and some other models I have seen with similar construction are priced at almost twice the price.
