• re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread

Found no flaws with the material used and the water proofing performed well too . Did a 700+ kms round trip to coorg-mysore from thrissur .. Found the protection satisfactory especially in this heavy rains .. It even dried fast .. anyway as i said before should have looked towards the icarus ..

Even a well protected and successful rider may not escape some accidents unscathed, but it's best to care of as many weak spots as possible.
Even i use Riding pants ( RJays) and i too feel the same regarding SHIN protection. But the best thing i felt is to wear a MX type of boot ( Eg :- ONeal Element ) which can protect shin area.

I don't have a pic and my guards have been borrowed by somebody ( will the person who did, please return it? )

you are supposed to wear all these types of guards under the pants - and if worn like that, the knee area will not flap.

Personally i prefer riding pants with knee protection/or knee guards, and a tall riding boot with shin protection.

Adarsh_Bk how are the Hercules boot fairing. I heard from the dealer here in Delhi that the boots wore out too soon during rains. Meandering India has stopped stocking Spartan Boots altogether. Whats your long-term experience?

That's surprising. But I haven't ridden in rains much so maybe that's why I didn't face any issue.

Have ridden a lot on dry weather and no problem till now, it looks as good as new. Can post a few pics in current condition if you want.

And what exactly you mean by wore out? The bottom sole? Or the whole boot as such? Maybe Sunny himself can clarify better.

I was led to know that the whole inner linings started to come-off from the boot when used extensively.

The Hipora membrane on the inner side of the boot is a wicking membrane that sucks moisture out from the inside and pushes it outwards. That's why the boot is made of leather. It is a natural material that breathes unlike synthetic materials that would not breathe. Because of this property, if you wear the boots without socks, the moisture from your feet would cause the liner to stick to your skin, pulling inside out if removed carelessly. The same would happen if water got into the boot and you tried to pull your feet out without taking care of the lining. This is not a defect but rather a property of the lining and merely pushing the liner back would get it back in shape.

You will see similar situations in other garments like waterproof jackets or glove linings if the inside surface got wet or moist with perspiration.

Incidentally, Meandering was terminated as a reseller for poor business practices some time ago and has not received any SPG stocks since April. If you check, you will see that he was removed from the SPG reseller list sometime ago. Definitely a case of sour grapes I would say.

Thanks sunny sir for clearing this up. I asked them (MI) specifically when they would get some stocks from spartan as they didn't have anything except gloves in stock. They said that the spartan stocks wont be available for some time. Guess since they are no longer the reseller they wont be getting any new stock.
By the way I dont see any resellers in Delhi, are you in the process to tie up with someone?

Is a rain liner sold separately for a dsg rage jacket? My liner is tearing up in places and the strap to hold it in place at the sleeve ends are breaking off

Ive bought SPG helios 6800 rs and a balaclava 300 rs
Very happy about the purchase.

One smal doubt - what is the purpose of the cushion at the collor. Its very easily detachable.
