• Universal : Riding Gears Thread

Hello Brothers.
I'm looking forward for a new riding jacket.
It's very cold here in Bhubaneswar and my Joe Rocket UFO 2 Jacket doesn't seem to work very well.
I have considered buying the Spartan Achilles Riding jacket which in text seems to fulfill my requirements.
But the problem with me is I don't tend to believe the Company Claims and Shopkeepers. Since xBhp members have already used it, I'm looking for reviews.
Looking forward for your precious help.
Thank You. Cheers.

Why don't you try the DSG Triton? I've heard that it's a great jacket for cold weather! Especially for Ladakh! Yes it is about 600 bucks more costly than the Achilles but I think it looks better too, although you would probably miss a few features of the Achilles like more storage etc.

Thank you brother for your wise advice. But due to some unknown reason I tend not to like DSG. I'll better stick to Spartan.
Senior member of xBhp members have given a very high opinion about it. Members like Mr. Anupam Behera, Mr. Parvej Raza, Mr. Siddhant Mishra( who all are very very experienced riders and Mr. Mishra is a frequent night rider) they all have given high opinions.
I would like them to share their brief long term ownership review and if convinced, I'll order it ASAP.
Cheers.

Thanks for your advice bro.

Cool bro the Achilles is also very good indeed! Spartan is a great VFM brand and I am personally thinking of buying the Helios!

Can be done, just be sure that the tarmac is free of pebbles / gravels / stones.

Hey guys please let me know of some bike accessory shops in Delhi near Patel Nagar?
I want to buy a pair of knee-pads, some LED strips, and check out some riding gloves. Also if you know of any good leather jackets dealers in the area do let me know. Please let me know asap as I have only day after tomorrow in Delhi! Thanks.

I recently bought a Duke 390 and to complete the purchase, I'm on the hunt for a riding gear, albeit on a shoestring budget.

I've narrowed my search down to the following items-

1) Jacket- Spartan Atlas/Icarus

2) Aspida Perseus Knee guards

3) Aspida Phaeton gloves

I had been to Ladakh last May, but didn't get an opportunity to drive/ride there. A 'proper' trip has been on the back of my mind ever since, and God-willing, I might do a full fledged road trip ( Bangalore-Leh-Bangalore ) on my Duke by this year end.

My concern is, will the gear I've posted above suffice? ( temperatures, rain and crash protection ).

Ps- Yes, I still need to find boots..

Pps- I'm open to alternatives and suggestions.

Sine04.. There isn't thermal liner for Atlas, while Icarus is mostly mesh, but comes with thermal liner. Also Phaeton is made for more ventilation. All this will cause trouble in low temperatures.

P.s. i own Atlas and was disappointed to know there isn't a thermal liner for it.

But for normal city usage, the above mentioned options are good.

Ride safe and have fun.
Regards
Nadeem

Yes you can definitely go for Achilles its a very nice jacket and made totally out of cordure which along with the excellent abrasion resistance also protects you from the elements though personally iam yet to use this product I have seen Siddhant Mishra who himself is an avid tourer and regularly tours to places unknown often in unfavourable conditions and natural atrocities like rain n snow if it provides him enough protection then I think it will suit your needs too

Have been asking meandering India for riding jackets for past 3 weeks and all I hear is that we will have stock next week. I have been to adventure 18 but they don't stock DSG or spartan. Is there any other place I should look into ?

Also I am looking for a rider pillion intercom set for long distance touring. Any idea where I can find such things in Delhi?
Online I searched for models but they cost upwards of 200$. However, I can spend around 5-6k max. I also came across a company called Vnetphone but I am not sure about it's reliability. If anyone is using such system it would be great to have a first hand review.

Chopra Automobiles, KB is the official supplier of Spartan products, so you should try there. They also stock DSG and other brands, so you do have options. They could even help you with the intercom problem, I believe... not sure but if you can get it done anywhere in Delhi, its definitely in KB market.
