Hello friends! With summer finally over and temperatures dipping (slightly!), touring begins again

I need help on picking the following pieces of my gear :-

1) Helmet
Have zeroed in on MT Blade. Are there better options in the market in the same range? How does KYT, SOL compare?

2) Boots
Confused like hell! Have seen really attractive offers on Royal Enfield gear store.
Hussar Boots @ 3300/-
Hussar/Wax-brushed suede riding boots | Royal Enfield

Short Riding Boots @ 5500/-
Short Riding Boots | Royal Enfield

Orazo Boots
Motorcycle Riding Boots : PICUS : Orazo :

I don't have an extended budget of 10~15k to purchase a international brand! (Poor). What is the most cost effective available with decent Ankle protection?

3) Riding Pants
Any reviews on Royal Enfield Riding Denims
Riding denim | Royal Enfield

Or should I got for Knee Guards? They look weird and are a police magnet, asking weird questions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

Hello VaruaG
1) The MT Blade is one fine helmet. It was a lifesaver for my bro, you can buy it eyes closed, the only issue many people had with the helmet is that the internal sun visor came loose after 6 months or so, i myself haven't faced a problem like this(8 months).
2)Can't comment. (Opinion:Check other brands also other than RE which offers more protection for less)
3)You are a tourer, so riding pants are better than knee guards anytime! You can buy a knee guard for your city rides though. As i mentioned above there are other companies which also make better gear.

Hope this helped!

Hi,I own tbg street which is around your budget. Comfortable gloves and good service support. They are not waterproof but if you get waterproof its very uncomfortable to wear othertimes cause it gets very hot.I too am in pune where you will need waterproof for max a month. So during rains hands do get wet.

Actually I have my normal gloves but I cannot use them in the rain, and I am going to be touring a lot so I thought of getting waterproof gloves!

Thanks mate! I bought the MT Blade, Alpha series. This one to be exact :-
MT Blade Alpha Helmet (Fluorescent Orange)
It looks sick as hell! The interior quality is far better than i've seen on other brands. Specs are a tough fit though...argh!

Riding pants were off budget for me. Read about a lot of heating issues on them due to lack of ventilation as well. Settled on a pair of decent CE certified Knee guards. Cramster Bionix. Not too bad, will get the job done, hopefully.

Still trying to zero-in on some good, protective boots. Most retails shops don't stock boots and will only get them on pre-order.

Hi folks!
With the onset of the monsoons, I am now looking forward to pampering myself with a new pair of waterproof gloves.

I would have opted for the TBG Explorer with my eyes closed but I just visited their store (Let's Gear Up) this Sunday and apparently they have been discontinued for now.

The only options I am aware of are :-

1) The Aspida Poseidon which retails for 2,950/- as per the SPG website. The price tag is a bit high, and I wish the TBG ones were available, but well, if anyone has this pair, could you please put up a review?

2) The DSG Hydro gloves that retail at 2,700/- INR. I am not sure about the quality of this glove, though my DSG Carbons seem to be doing fine after around 2-3k kilometers of usage over 8 months. Since I already own a pair from DSG (the Carbons), I wish to try out some other brand if it can offer a better deal or is more VFM! :P

Also, if anyone is aware of any other waterproof gloves within the 3k INR budget, please let me know!

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a decent pair of riding boots for office.. nothing flashy.. just something simple with extremely low profile that goes well with formals..

one option I'm considering : keep shoes at office, ride in riding boots and swap there.. I used to do that, not sure why I stopped it, but might as well restart..

so, what's a great commute boot around with you guys that I can pick as well?

Thanks..

Yes, I noticed that. My bad! For some reason I didn't see those gloves when I checked their website a few weeks ago! :P

I'm not much in favor of Cramster since I've heard a lot of complaints about the quality of their gear. Any other suggestions are welcome!

For waterproof gloves, don't spend extra. Buy a pair of surgical gloves and wear those under. Will keep your hands totally dry.
Even with water proof gloves some water does manage to get in.

I wish to purchase the waterproof gloves for my commutes.

I own 2 proper pairs of gloves :-

1) The DSG Carbon Full Gauntlets - only for weekends/tours since that is the only time I ride medium-long distances. This won't be used for commuting since it is very tedious to get these on and off!

2) The Rynox Shield Pro semi-gauntlet gloves - for city rides and commuting. The problem using your method is that the glove will get drenched and the leather portion might degrade over repeated usage in such conditions. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I don't mind spending around 3k to add a good glove to my little collection, but it should hold out a considerable portion of water for a good while if it isn't completely waterproof.

Definitely, you will get a waterproof motorcycle riding gloves in the range of 3.5k to 4k. I brought a River Road Sturgis Gloves in a summer. It is a weight leather glove with gel padding that provides maximum me comfort. It is especially made for long rides and off- road touring.

I suggest you few references from where you definitely get your choice.

I have been using Cramster Flux for about an year. The left glove palm area is torn, I think because of getting drenched in rain a couple of times. But I still wonder how the right one looks as good as new and the left got so much of damage.

However, I would still like to go for the same pair again, Flux gives good comfort for city use. Could someone help me find a pair gloves that looks quite similar and gives extra cushion for the palm area?
