Ok....I thought I will post this here as this contributes to the safety of the rider too. I was looking for some light mode for my helmet and came across this site by sheer chance.

I had seen the original light mode site where the same design is available for $129 plus shipping charges from Canada. In Lifestore it cost me just $ 34.99 including shipping. The price has again dropped ny $10 when I checked it last night. The design is the exact same, probably these guys supply them ! !

There was one difference though. When I ordered it , the site said the battery pack / control unit was rechargeable and it comes with adhesive in the back. I got a regular control unit where I have to put 2 AA battery and it came with a clip. So now I have to figure out to fix it to the helmet. The LED strip and the control unit is supposed to be waterproof which I will have to test in the rain.

The item came after 26 days after ordering ( tracking is available) . I will mount it today or tomorrow and put a video.

That thing looks nice, do update with pictures after the fitment.

Using solace Furious since a year and over 40k kms. Bloody good jacket. Do check them out.
My most used and loved piece of gear.

I even hated all local jacket manufacturers for printing huge brand logos everywhere on their jackets and gears.

Including spartan aka Aspida or BBG or Rynox.
I'm using DSG Evo since 55k+ kms and counting. With minimal branding and good quality. I prefer clean and neat way to promote brands. [emoji23]

My jacket doesn't have any logo on it. [emoji39] Just a small one, 1cm high font on the chest.
And to be honest, I am of the same belief.
Minimalism is best.

Go for Orazo boots buddy. Those are way more cheaper. And pretty comfortable. Looks good. But just the thing is they are not waterproof till the ankles.
I didn't get Orazo because I already have JCB excavator boots.which are safety shoes full leather with Steel Toe, anti slip, anti shock lug sole.
And it's been 4+ years now and the leather is still wrinkle free. I abused them regularly that sole wears out but leather is still intact. And as good as new. Bought them for 1700 only from online store.

I wear a race/tour boot, and looking to pick one for everyday usage, since the high rise is too high on race boots, as you know.

Imho Aspida doesn't even have a back protector brother. Not worth considering.

They actually do as per the SPG website.

But a question - most say that they provide CE level armours. But don't specify from which company. Are the armours made by themselves or would they use it from other companies like Knox D3O, SASTEC etc.

Which is the best touring jacket
* Aspida Odysseus touring jacket
* Rynox Stealth Evo V3 Touring Jacket
* Solace Furious Touring Jacket

Add TBG Knight to this list :-) I think all are fantastic options. But go the distance, try all of them and see which one fits best. You may have one armour less or more in each of them that may swing your choice.

I just picked up the solace Furious BTW.

They use Knox in some jackets and Sastec in others afaik. But they explicitly mention the name of armour brand when they do. If there is no name mentioned, it is a generic armour.

Add TBG Knight to this list :-) I think all are fantastic options. But go the distance, try all of them and see which one fits best. You may have one armour less or more in each of them that may swing your choice.

TBG knight is a very sweet jacket ! And a good pick. Furious is sweet too.

The established brands have a reputation to keep and work with the biggest apparel manufacturers around.

Knox for example works with RSD, Rev'it, RS Taichi, Helite, Richa, IXS.

Sas-tec works with Held, Scott, ScorpionEXO, Helite, BMWgear.

D3o works with Klim, Rukka.

Now coming on to generic brands - There are two types - one is the armours from brands like Dainese, Alpinestars, Rev'it and second is the cheaply made ones.

The first ones differ in that they are made by the same armour brands named above, or others, or with inputs from same at times.

The lower ones - cheaply made - have no reputation to keep. I will let you in to a small tip - these brands use good quality material to pass CE test, and then start manufacturing low quality protectors after passing CE test - since they have no reputation to keep. There is no consistency or quality.

A point to remember here is that in independent lab tests, branded protection always shines, even compared to likes of Alpinestars many a times, now I realize I am opening a can of worms, but brands like A star have rigid quality control and consistency, and also many quality checks on the manufacturing level. They work a lot also on the shell quality, which is ignored by many low tier manufacturers.

One point to note is that there are brands which declare weight and Denier ratings of every material used - Rev'it for example, while there are others that hide behind well known brand name materials and do not declare Denier rating as such.

Ballistic Nylon, Superfabric, PolyDura, Cordura - all are a blend of polyester and nylon in the end, without denier ratings, these names mean nothing to a well informed customer.

And ofcourse, known armour brands have one business, and they excel at it. I would prefer buying branded protectors in my budget, anyday. It can be from Knox, D3o, Sastec, Powertector, etc or something manufactured by them as OEM for any brand, like Powertector manufactures for RST and Shima etc, or from a brand that provides all relevant information like Rev'it.

This is perfect and more or less what I was expecting as well. There are so many generic 'moto' brands in the market these days and claim to use CE L2 armours but not sure how dependable they are.

I would tell you about one - Winner protector.
This is being used by almost all low quality unbranded CE2 apparels in India by many brands.
This protector does not have a level 2 certification on their site, so they only have level 1 certification and sell level 2 armours. Read again - this is being used by many brands, I am not taking any names, these protectors are usually soft, bright yellow coloured, badly designed and have a small coverage area.

These brands keep posting a lot on Instagram, sponsoring many 'influencers' (many famous ones) and lure youngsters who want more style than proper protection.
