  • Yep, I have bought two jackets, one for wife: FirstGear Torrent Mesh Jacket, bought for Rs3300, and one for me: Teknic Supervent mesh jacket, bought for Rs.2600. Both the jackets were brand new with all the tags. The prices are all inclusing, shipeed to my doorstep. If you stay in cities where local corporation is greedy, then you may attract toll of 10% ( I paid some 310-320rs for Pune shipping, the other jacket I got in Mumbai where there is no such idiocy).

I have posted this in the same thread a few pages back. Both the jacket fit beautifully. You need to search ebay.com or any US site for good deal and add around 1200/1300 for the international shipping to ICCworld. I even ordered few mobiles thru them as well.

You will need to be sure about the sizing, which can be easily found out on net. Recently, I too have heard a few stories about them, but there are many silent satisfied customers like me as well.

I precisely knew you would say that; but as I said before, the issues are with exchange. Anyway, we're despatching 4 of our colleagues to US this month , but, still, I would like to buy it from here due to the hassles of size not matching & exchange of stuffs.
What sizing issues?! Unless you are Arnold with overly curved body, or opposite of that with overly round, you will do fine! Just remember to measure your self, and go to the jacket maker's site to check sizes. If the jacket is touring, containing thermal liner, then the size is one size big for without liner. For example, my Hein Gericke timbuktu is M size, it fits perfectly with the liner, but when I remove the liner, it is bit loose. But not so loose that it will come off!

One member here got riding pants with protectors for about 3000 ordering from US. Just think about it, in 6000rs, you will either get local jacket, or you will get international jacket + pants! Now you decide

    • But sorry Animeher, one simple question of mine with ICC whether they can help me get a Xena disc brake lock alarm is left unanswered for atleast a month now!!! Tell me, how can I ever trust their service?

      • Phew lot of activity happening on this thread today !

@ Aargee - The gauntlet refers to the extended cuff covering part of the forearm (thanks Wikipee). The full gauntlet ones have a longer section extending out from the wrist and serve to go over the jacket. Very useful on long rides when you dont want cold wind coming in through your sleeves. Alternatively you can also ride with the sleeves over the gloves if you want some circulation. Point being you have the flexibility.

What about in city usage you might ask. What I do is ride with the sleeve zip of my Nero open so that air flows in easily. If you look at the pictures of the DSG gloves you will see the difference in lengths of the gauntlets.

Wrt the Bad experience with C***** thread, as far as i can remember the complaints were mainly to do with the poor finishing of gloves and jackets. I do not recall a single person either there or on this thread with a complaint regarding their knee guards. I would still recommend these without hesitation. They are excellent VFM compared to the cheaper imitation AXO guards and the prohibitively expensive A* guards.

BTW any chance of going down to Cochin / Muvatupuzha (remmber you telling me that in Yercaud) ? Sabu is stocking A* & Cramster these days, you could try them out there.

Ok now time for my question - has anyone tried out the Rjays Urban Boots RJays Boots - BACHOO MOTOR & CYCLE COMPANY (Rs 6899) ? Im not keen on a larger pair of boots or racing boots. I would like to pick up something that I can walk around in at least over the weekends. The Urban Boots seem to fit the bill. Any other options ?

Aditya - Have you come across any boots like the ones I mentioned ?

Orion has shorter ankle length Rjays and A* boots in stock. Give them a visit. They have some chinese brand too but stay away from those.

Thanks Ani. Even a lil bit helps.

Can you tell me how the duty is calculated for items ordered on ICCworld? Is there any exemption for orders less than say 10k.

Currently AFAIK items have to be billed and marked as gift for duty exemption if the value of the products do not exceed 10k. But then again, the decision to waive duty or impose it lies with the customs officer.

              so very confused.

Hmmm...Thanks; I'll enquire about the CE certified knee protector available as accessory along with the A* riding pants & then decide on this one.

I'd been there last August end & had some good fun. Check out my travelogue with 2 simple words "Sabarimalai, team-bhp" in Google. Since we did by car, I didn't post it here

Yap, I know you aren't, but just thought of sharing the experience I'd with them which made me loose confidence with them. What's YMMV?

PS - I called up Mr.Vijay around 1:00 PM & he didn't pick up the phone promptly. I'm going to give a try once again, if he doesn't, then I'll have to try Mr.Sabu. Sorry @Adi.

                • Wow!! I love the buzz/activity on this thread today. Some genuine discussion going on.

Thanks for posting the duty question Adi. I was going to ask the same thing in this post (if not for your post).

Need to also pick up a nice helmet. No good deals available online on any Sparx helmets (I can fix on the size easily) apart from the Hornet (yellow+black), which will not at all go well with the bike (red+black) & riding gear (black).

I tried ridersdiscount, & motorcycle-superstore. Any more suggestions people?

I am not sure how ICCworld calculates the duty, and whether we can come up with some ways so that they will have to pay less duty. They just sent me final quote containing details of costs, and if I liked it, I went ahead with the buy.

Are you only looking at Sparx or is KBC also an option ? I did a couple of months of intense research on helmets before zeroing in on my KBC Bulldog. I was checking BikeBandit, KneeDraggers, motorcycle superstore and a couple of other and eventually picked it up from ebay. Based on my research, ebay is your best bet to get KBCs in the range of $ 80 - 100. With Sparx it was almost impossible to get any discount and they were all in the price range of $ 120 - 140 (except the plain ones which were just over $100).

KBC is also fine with me. Just that I haven't seen much of KBC online.
Esentially, I want to pick a quality helmet whose size I'm sure of. Hence KBC/Sparx should be ok.

I will check out BikeBandit, KneeDraggers & ebay for deals. I'm in no tearing hurry for the helmet. But sooner the better.

BTW, there's a nice (closeout) deal on the Sparx Hornet - $75!!
How I wish I had the yellow R15

& thats the only one I need to check out! Nothing there on 20north & NewEnough.

                            • I spoke with Mr.Vijay just now & here's the update

                              Q. What's the price of CE-certified RC back protector available as accessory along with the A* Jacket?
                              A. This is available as a separate accessory & costs around Rs 2.5K & is a non bionic knee pad that can be worn inside the pant (I love this)

                              Q. What's the price of CE certified knee protector available as accessory along with the A* riding pants?
                              A. Need to be purchased separately & costs around Rs 3300.

Both the above are not available immediately & will be available after couple of weeks.

                              Q. How many days will it take to ship to Chennai
                              A. One day after realizing the payment

                              Q. Will you exchange if my (L assumption) is not a fit & I promise not to wear it more than I try once
                              A. Gladly. But he assured me that my size is M if my shirt size is 40 & they're following international standard. He also gave a lecture about the non standard way of measuring things by Crap**** for their gloves

                              Q. Is the A* T-Breeze Air-Flo Jacket Black a water proof one & does it have zipper to attach to the pant A* AST-1 Waterproof Riding Pants
                              A. Yes; A*s are compatible, while, DSG Nero & A* are not; also A* TBreeze is water resistance & not water proof while DSG Nero is water proof; this means, TBreeze is well suited for summer & blocks the air in winter; while Nero provides a thermal line which preserves the heat & is more of Winter product.

                              Q. Is DSG Nero water proof?
                              A. Yes it is.

After speaking to him, I'm even more confused as which one to buy. A* Verona is out of question because its light weight & more focused on city rides, while TBreeze is for touring & heavy.

I'm more confused now as which one to settle in for; I need back protection & a simple foam doesn't sound good to me. It has to provide a solid protection, however, he doesn't have the back pads with him for now which makes me feel more biased towards DSG Nero.

                              What should I do now?

                                What do you ride?
At average joe Indian bikes a simple foam protector would be apt (yeah feel free to throw stones at me for this)

Even most international jackets come with a basic CE approved armour... the racing gear however has better and tougher ones.

What you should buy - is what you need!!!
Classify what kind of riding are you going to do with it... in the long run if you ride a lot, you will end up having multiple jackets.... one jacket that does all will probably never be a reality

PS: You should make a similar signature for your gears as well!
