If you're only concerned about wearing it in rains, between the two it would be the Nero - however, if you need something that can be worn even in hot weather, then a mesh is more sensible.

Even if you buy a jacket now because of price concerns that doesn't suit you for different seasons, chances are you won't wear it if you find it too hot - thereby defeating the purpose in the first place. I know many guys who have made this mistake.

Analyse your requirement first - then make your decision. What may appear pricey initially may actually save you money in the long run, by serving multiple roles.

Nagesh, i will say go for a mesh jacket...no matter what brand you choose.
For the climate of Mumbai, its the most suitable.
Maze is a mesh jacket from DSG, but i don't know if its equipped with a rain liner. Whereas Rjays Swift is also a mesh with a removable rain liner. Both cost you 6k. Rest is your choice...

PS: I got my Rjays Octane a couple of weeks back. At first had almost decided to get Nero. After trying out Nero, felt that its a jacket which is mostly suited for the northern states where you have low temperatures. If you wear that in Mumbai....be assured that even a 5 min traffic halt in summers will be enough to drench you in sweat.

                • I already have bionic knee gaurds.
My question is will i require my knee gaurds after purchasing
Alpinestars AST-1 Waterproof Riding Pants ?
I hate being a pillion, iff the rider is senseless.

The AST-1 is quite a thin one... a condura outer layer and rain layer inside. The protector at the knee is just a hard foam padding. If you have earlier used or seen the likes of Cramster Velocity, this will be a lot different and will seem inferior.
And personally, I'd advice you to keep your knee guard...

                    • Well then that leaves me with no more choice.
As the planetdsg website states only one model of astar waterproof pant.

Will have to check out Cramster as most of my touring is in rainy season.

                      • IMO, keep your riding gear different from rain gear, do not try to club both the purpose together. Buy riding gears for everyday use, no matter it rains or not, going by mainly what's the weather type mostly you ride. Buy a separate rain gear to use only during monsoon to wear above the riding gear.

                        • Okay will keep that in mind.

Now from a strictly safety perspective which brand to prefer.
Leaving aside the value for money factor.

I second this, being trying the rain liner in my Octane over the last few days, works well, but makes you melt like cheese on a pizza, even though breathable taking the jacket off and on becomes a struggle, I have subsequently removed the liner and will get a regular rain suit to go over my riding gear.
Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

                            • Frankly speaking top brands come with standard protection, means, they deliver what they say. It is much possible to get the same standard from brands that are not well known at much lower price. But for even higher price & not so known brands, it is perfectly possible to get ruined. Point - Go always with the crowd unless one needs to experiement; look at the product specification than the name or brand.

I've JR that may or may not do the same job of DSG or Raw Skoyco. Always go by needs & necessities rather than fancying.

Though I haven't used the liner in my jacket during monsoon, I find the liner more useful during the winters (considering Chennai least temp during winter). They give a good warm feeling during cold mornings & is a bliss to ride.

                              • There is only one requirement safety and trust me no fancying.

My primary motive was to get my gears manufactured by astar.
Its just that after searching the net got confused between different brands.
