you've put me into more confusion by bringing the leather maintenance issue. checked out the prices of a few leather conditioners .. man they are costly!
I've ordered a pair of DSG Vector Gloves, do they need to be regularly conditioned too ?

In dry its not an issue... but if u apply leather conditioner it will be in top notch shape.. but if there is frequent wet n dry cycle (or it gets wet frequently)then the leather will loose the oils in it, n it will feel coarse n rough... which is not what u want plus it will shorten the life of the leather... and another thing is ie if it gets wet u will hav to dry it the natural way (ie no hairdryer or vacuum cleaner it will further damage the leather) n as u know rainy days r humid with no sun it will take a couple of days to dry completely in n out.... plus if u store it in rainy days see to it that it is in a dry place (u can also put silica gel) or else u will get fungus on the gear n it will smell.....

Please dont think that i am discouraging u to buy leather gears... but these r the things which u hav to do to keep ur riding gears in gud shape since we r investing our hard on dough on these products....

      • Recommendation Needed

        Hi guys,

This thread has too many pages to frankly go through and find what I need. So at the risk of repetition, guys please recommend a riding jacket. My requirements are:

        1. ONLY for touring / weekend rides. NOT for city rides. So guess a slightly thicker material would be better compared to mesh? I'm just guessing.
        2. Doesn't have to be rain proof. Have a rain suit I'll be wearing on top of it.
        3. Should be available in India. I want to try on apparel before I buy it.
        4. Money not a problem, unless ridiculous. Recommend away!

thanks for all the info. i've zeroed in on the nero. i intend to use this jacket for atleast 2-3 years. don't want to go with a jacket having leather on it without knowing proper maintenance procedure and ruin it.

          • Need suggestions for knee guard and gloves

            Hi All,

Can someone please advise me about quality knee guards?
I am inclined towards Alpinestars but the bionic ones are really expensive.
Is there as much difference in quality as in the price (b/w cramster, dsg, fox and A*)
Also will they scratch the sides of tank?
In that case i would prefer to buy riding pants.
I am thinking of using them (or atleast i will try to) regularly (even to office).

Suggestions on gloves are also welcome .

            Budget:
            Gloves: <=2K
            Kneed guard: <=5K

            Thanks in advance.

            Regards

you can have duckback rain coat over the jacket if you are concern for the leather. else you have option to go for Rjays Swift which is 100% waterproof as per mentioned on their site. the price of Swift and DSG Maze both are same.
Replace the words "I have to" with "I choose to" and notice the difference in how you feel.

If money not a problem, then Alpinestar T-RC-1 (Rs. 9.5K) is the jacket for u. PlanetDSG are giving good discount on it. As its an A*, you wont have any problems about its quality.

Else RJays Octane (Rs. 7.6K) is there. I am using it for last 8-9 months. Loving it.

Kneed guard: <=5K Stretch the budget by another 1.5 to 2k. U will get a good riding pant. Else PlanetDSG has one outlet at Mulund. He is selling original Knox Knee Guards for around 3K.

                    Hi Saurabh,

                    Thansk for the reply.
I had ordered the Alpinestar bionic knee guards as it had a lot of good reviews on XB as well as on the net but DSG does not have them in stock and will get them in next 10-15 days. I wanted the gear to be with me by wednesday as i am going for a trip on thursday. Anyways i could stretch my budget by that much for good quality riding pants but only question i have is are they as safe as the knee guards? The ones i have seen have soft padding like CE approved armours but the knee guards are hard and have similar soft padding inside and thus look a little mroe safe.
Can you please provide names of some good quality riding jackets you are reffering to.

                    Thanks for your help.

                    Regards

i am using riding pants for last 5-6 months. having no problems what so ever. on the safety front, no need to worry. only ensure the armour is CE approved n all. dont judge them by the softness. even the riding jackets have the similar armour as of the pants.

there are many options available in riding jackets. it depends on your budget. we have jackets starting from as low as 3.5k upto 20k. i m talking about textile jackets and not leather jackets.

i am using RJays Octane (Rs. 7.6k) for last 8-9 months. I am loving it, as it provides amazing ventilation. i am a bit sweaty person, and i stay in mumbai, so ventilation is needed for me. you choose your priority and buy the jacket as per that.

I checked the RJays/ bachoo motors site and they dont have octane they have some all season jacket, is it the same as yours?
Al so as i can make out that these are not bionic knee guards so dont they annoy in long rides as we keep our knees bent but the guards dont bend.
Sorry for asking so many questions but i was sure about A* bionics and now i have no time to google on riding pants (that are available in India).

                        Thanks and Regards

RJays Jackets - BIKES I RIDING GEAR I PERFORMANCE ACCESSORIES I SPARES

octane is there on their website. all season is different.

and yes, my personal opinion goes with you. in long rides, i do feel a slight bit of pain in my knees while using pants. but it is not so disturbing or annoying that can affect your riding n all. but this is something which may differ person to person. but there are many guys who use pants for very long rides. even i do.

also if you want to go for bionic knee guards only and that too original ones, then also check out Performance Racing Store. I guess they are selling oroginal Fox Knee Guards.

Thanks Saurabh for your time over the phone.

As A* are not available (as per DSG will be available by end of this month)ill delay my purchase (will do a little more research on riding pants as well)
                            But what about the gloves?
                            DSG or RJay?
Which one is better? (DSG Revive Rs. 2k (not waterproof), RJays Jetstream 2 Rs. 2.5k (not waterproof))
A slight variation in price is not a problem but protection and comfort are must have criterias.
                            Please advice.

Besides, I need something that is XXL in size
