  • Re: Bike Mechanics

I have been suggested Tulsiram mechanic in Secunderabad near Old Passport Office by Prashant who is an xbhpian here. I have got a general service of my 10 year old Eterno done from him and can vouch for the guy. He charges a bit higher than others, but that is nothing compared to how meticulous and careful he is in every thing he does.
Only thing to keep in mind is to list out all the things you have to get done before he starts and call up well in advance to book in advance. I am not sure if I can share his number openly. Please PM me if you need any help locating Tulsi's Garage.

        Hi fellow xBhpians,

Needed help on a mechanic for my STD 350 Royal Enfield in Gurgaon.

Am staying at Sohna Road, Gurgaon and just moved from Chennai.

Would be great if someone can help me with the same since battery is down due to shifting and not riding for four months.

        Urgent help please.

        • Contact info of local mechanics

          Hi,

Highly inspired and impressed with the idea of AIERS (All India Emergency Response System) I have prepared a similar information system wherein motorcyclists can feed the contact details of their mechanics who attend to their motorcycles regularly and knowledgeable enough to solve issues.

This will not only help fellow xbhpians to access the data but as BIKERS travelling from one location to another can access these datapoints and make use of it whenever required.

Would request all to kindly post your data with accuracy since we might make use of it in case of breakdowns.

To add the response the link is as below
The form would help collate a list of your mechanics who are good with their skills in fixing your motorcyvles. In other words please add the names and contact numbers of your mechanics. This info will help our fellow xbhpians and other fellow bikers access the data and also increase the business of your local mechanics.

To access the data the link is given below

Hoping that this system will help all and we all can make use of it.

          Thanks
          Franko

          • Good mechanic near mumbai/thane?

So I own a Bajaj CT100B. I am looking for a service center (could be unauthorised) for servicing the bike.

I have a dislike for ASC, thanks to my past experience with Suzuki. I don't like the non transparency, high bill costs, taking for a ride, unfriendliness, unnecessary formality, too much pomp show and rudeness of ASC staff.

It would be great if anyone could suggest a good service center for servicing. Thanks in advance.

                Comming to the point:

Ah this is the beauty of xbhp that it discusses regarding bikes like ct 100 and other smaller bikes. All cannot own big bikes like cbr etc. But all have the right to own a bike and enjoy however small or large it is. This is why I have a strong liking to xbhp. This approach is missing in other forums (won't like to name them)

Agree with you. Recently I went to a Bajaj ASC for an engine rebuild (rebore) for my discover 100 4g. I knew that all the other parts in the engine were good as I maintain the bike in good shape. The ASC quoted approx 10k for this job with a new bore piston kit and approx 8000 for the rebore with existing bore kit. I thought this was ridiculous and got it done at a FNG for 3k including parts and labor. As expected all the other engine parts as mentioned by the mechanic were in excellent shape and only the bore kit and valves needed to be replaced.
I would suggest never go to an ASC until you have loads of cash to burn.

For regular services I do them myself as I have the required tools. Also I own a Bajaj spirit which I bought about two years ago (used) and not even once I have given it to a mechanic including opening of clutch etc.

                Thanks
                Srinivas

                        Hi,
I am looking to restore my grandfathers lambretta. I would be posting pictures of it pretty soon.
Small update on the current condition
                        1. The body is partly rusted
                        2. the engine has been kept in an dismantled condition.
                        3. Its in Kolkata, so i need a mechanic who could solve the issue there.
                        4. Although being in such a state my grandpa loves his scooters( he owns a 94' chetak too) so the mechanic should know have the proper knowledge about the scooter as he might look old(he is 89) but he should be ready to answer a lot of questions.

                        Any help would be appreciated
