You can replace it with a LED bulb of similar type (Mostly H1), but you should expect adverse effect on illumination. The construction of a bixenon projector is done keeping in mind the HID bulb.

The problem is with Bajaj's design. Having worked on AS200, my observation is that the low beam projector cannot be focussed on the road properly. Even a the lowest setting, its not low enough. Don't know why bajaj doesn't pay attention to such small details.

Though I did not try, but I personally feel, we can slightly bend the mounts to resolve this issue. Anyone willing to fix it should give it a try.



What I suggested should be a cake walk for any professional customizer in your city. Also, there should not be any need of cutting a single stock wire. Everything should be a plug and play.

Thanks for suggestion, went through all I can about led, seems the one best suited is not available anywhere except US and UK for now.
I need suggestions on Halogen, HIDs, AUX, whatever possible to light up the roads and make it visible bright.

Though the stock projector is effective in the darker roads, it becomes very difficult to ride with those amber vapor street lights and glare from oncoming traffic, the road becomes shady and lack of intensity from the stock projector beam makes me miss potholes and uneven roads.

I want to upgrade the headlight of my Desert Storm (Classic 500) cos it's illumination isn't satisfactory on badly lit roads... I'm not much of a tourer to fit auxiliary LEDs... Was considering the 100/90W bulbs from either Philips or Osram with relay...

Any help or suggestions appreciated...

I am having RTR 200 which has a 55/60W headlight. I am looking to upgrade to LED HID headlight. But online for bikes i am getting is all 35W LED HID or 40W LED HID which is for car (2Pcs). Is it ok to downgrade the wattage for Headlight. Will it have any adverse effect on battery? As the battery power will not be used fully.

LED bulbs have much higher light output than conventional tungsten filament bulbs of same wattage. So you needn't worry. The LEDs will be much brighter than even the 55/60W bulb. Just be sure the holder type is the same and there's space to fit the bulb in the bike headlight.

The battery wont be over charged due to less power used. As RTR 200 dont have kick so i am concerned about the battery effect. I dont wont to get strangled in some unknown place due to battery issue.

No, it would not. Leds actually consume even less than rated 35W or 40W. However, as the power consumption is less, it is good for battery and there is no need to worry about it. You need to think only when you add something which consumes more Watt than stock.

You're the first guy ever to worry about lesser power consumption. What about when you ride the bike in the day with all lights off? There is even lesser power consumed then. But that doesn't conk off the battery, right? So your concern is unfounded. It is not a matter to worry about. In fact, your battery will be healthier. Unless it's already in bad shape, that is. So chill.

I have hero Honda cd 100 (1995 0r 1998 model)
Trying to full dc conversion in middel
I have 35 w hid with blastor and 12v 5A new battery
When I connect hid to battery in glow only a minute then goes off , when connect again only fliker a secound and goes off
Any help in this matter ?
I tried leds they made for higher model but when I connect it to my bike they glow well but I think my reflector not made for that light like h4 or any other

I had seen some posts here in the thread earlier where, some fellow rider brothers wanted to know what happens whether one can use 100 Watt bulb in a projector. I have found the answer today and I am posting for everyone to see.
This fellow rider had a break down at Bankura Town, West Bengal. The lights were not working due to the bulb getting fused. The mechanic, without any knowledge of the rider, installed a 100 watt bulb in his Pulsar 220F Projector instead of a 55 watt. The rider was under the impression that it was infact a 55w bulb. The result...

His projector lens exploded, the plastic housing melted and the glass turned black. The light wiring and bulb socket melted too. He had to change the entire set costing him almost 4,300 excluding labour.
A costly lesson.

Even I am looking at getting some aux led for my bike. Never thought i would do it but i have recently started going for rides with friends and with roads in our country not having street lights and unmarked speedbreakers I have given up and decided to do something about this. Kindly let us know what you come up with.

Now a question to the knowledgeable members on this forum. I too have an rtr200 and would like to get aux lights on it. Dont want to mess with the original headlight (though i might upgrade them to Philips extreme vision + later) especially when the stock headlight isn't really bad. I just need more light output for early morning highway rides.

I have gone ahead and made the following shortlist (I am not limiting myself to these options though). Kindly let me know your opinions on which one is the best suited (NOTE - I would prefer LED SPOT beams that are warm white in color ..Maybe too much to wish for ):

1. Mxs Motorsport (Dont know much about their reputation but they are the only ones advertising rtr200 specific aux lights)

MXSORL129 Cree Led 4D Off Road Lights TVS Apache RTR 200 (ignore the url description)

I dont understand why they are advertising it as a flood beam and the output color as amber yellow (the image clearly shows something closer to 6000K). I will try and get more details to confirm this.

2. a2Z (same deal dont know anything about them)

10W CREE LED ROUND - WARM WHITE.

I like these since they are advertised as warm white (want the extra lights for functional use and dont like the bluish white lights since they dont perform well in poor weather conditions). I was thinking maybe i could get two of these. However, the lumens output seems to be too low (1000lm in theoritical) and they dont have any warranty.

3. Moving to Amazon now I have found one which seems to be quite similar to the one above just that the deal is much sweeter for Rs1800 (for a pair of lights). Also the seller is giving 3 months on warranty.

5. The Last one I came across is one of those U(5/7/9) series leds. I am not sure if these perform well (though they are the only ones that advertise 3000lm per bulb). If someone here has used them kindly advsise.

Though looking at the proposed circuit dig (stolen of the net) my friends have told me that I would have to do the work myself since no one would be ready to put in the required work . I am ok with that.

Leaving the reference link (How to Wire a Relay for Off-Road LED Lights - Extreme Lights) for someone who might find it useful.

Also last query can someone let me know if the Apache rtr200 has an accessories power line (like the duke) since i want to have the control input as a combo from ignition and a switch.

Where are you from? Don't just install any angel eye unit. The beam projects like a spot light and the quality isn't good either. Try consulting with these guys, they have name in eastern India and arw called "The Light Doctor".

Hey bro i have gone thru all the links for Auxiliary lights that you are looking for. But one thing why are you looking 2 side lights which are either 10W(5+5) or 18W(9+9).
These as per what i have seen on roads are only for show they don't throw that much of light on the road.
I am personally using 18W Cree LED Bar fog lamp single piece and have attached it on my numberplate. Been one single piece it has a good throw of light on the road. I use it as dipper light don't need to put the headlight on for atleast dipper. I have brought the switch for the same from online and have added a fuse for protection of the light. (here i think relay would be good will be trying it next time). there is also similar light but with more output of 36W this should be good i am going to buy this one next time once the one that i am using konks off. links are below
