Re: Let there be Light : Bike Lighting, HID etc
the throw is way way better than the stock halogen, will surely post the beam pics tonight, was about to post last nigh but got stuck up with some important work. I bought it from grant road (east), mumbai. from a shop named ramesh scooters, bought it for INR 2100 for the lens, 35W, 8000K hid, slim ballast, wiring harness, fuse etc. all this comes in a set.Originally posted by chotu_r View Post@viks how is the throw of the projector? 8000K? You are going to have a hard time during rain, fog, smog. With hid always stick to 4300k.Originally posted by viks View Postthe throw is way way better than the stock halogen, will surely post the beam pics tonight, was about to post last nigh but got stuck up with some important work. Re: Let there be Light : Bike Lighting, HID etc
4300k is yellow, i was about to opt for 6000k but it was kinda pure white, and so i opted for 8000K, even the mercs have 8000K, and yes, with the old big fat ballast, i would have surely had hard times in rains and fog and smog, but with slim ballast, i dont think so (a friend of mine has 8000K with slim ballast and i have rode his Fz in rains with good visibilty) But yes, what i have noticed using the dipper on the highways and dark places is, till the time the light is on its good, but as soon as i switched off the light, my eyes took 5-6 seconds to adapt the darkness (the same thing which happens when you switch off the lights at your home at night and your eyes take time to see things in that dakness).Originally posted by lijok View Post8000K? But still lets see, if the visibilty is less in rains then i will probably buy an extra 35W 4300K for rains. Tentative though.
Anyways, thanks for the advice.

Hi all... I'm planning to do a projector+angel eye mod on my pulsar 200 NS as soon as it's electrical warranty gets over. I'd actually prefer something something as seen in the attachment. Please suggest some reliable projector set ups and the type of halogen bulb to be used. Budget is a concern and can be extended max upto 3500.Riding is not about destinations, it's about journeys.

These lights are these days famous as "Demon Eyes". See a Page back (Page 431), viks posted the same with installed in his Hero Impulse
Read his post. He got it for way cheaper than your budget.
By the way, Your 3500 Budget is enough.
@ My Query :
I'm always been a lover of high light on road.
From 4-5 months facing the problem of dust inside My Pulsar 220's headlight glass & so very less light is visible, near-about no use in road with no streetlight.
Fortunately got a Trustful Mechanic to open & clean it for cheap. (Others were asking 1000 bucks to open + I can't trust them.)
So I'm thinking to change the Bulb too.
My eyes got hold on these :
New 2 x 55W HID Xenon Light Bulbs for H7 8000K Headlight | eBay
Way cheaper and comes as pair (to share with some xbhpian to reduce the money or to keep as a backup).
I know people prefer 4300K. But I hate that Yellow Light.. Ewwww.!!
This same seller is selling 4300K, 5000k, 6000k, 8000k, 10,000k, 12,000k In 35W & 55W.
And all at same price with free shipping to India (My place atleast, Mumbai).
So after the price seems affordable & decent.
People who already bought it from him also reviewed good product.
Just 2 concerns for my Pulsar 220 :
1. Is there gonna be Overheat problem because of being 8000k ?
2. Am I going to have a Cracked Projector Or headlamp glass soon because of overheating ?
3. Do I have to be Normal or play like cowboy with cops ? I mean, are they gonna poke for high light in Mumbai ?
And does these pair of lights gonna work without heating problem in Fazer, Fz, Activa. ?Last edited by Sird; 04-26-2013, 10:11 AM.First I was Scared But then We Made a Deal

Nope.Originally posted by chotu_r View Post@Sird Seeing that you have a P220, does bajaj sell just the low beam projector & high beam reflector separately? Trying to find them in scrap markets is very stressful!
But you can contact those Insurance people in Bajaj Service center they can easily provide you for some 1-1.5k
I have 3 of them
3 accidents of different 220's from our group And I have them all :P

All you can do is add the angel eyes to your high beam, while you have best in class light throw of any stock bike. That being said, HIDs won't cause any heat as such, for which you need to understand how a HID works. TOriginally posted by Sird View PostHey Nice Find.

You can fix it on almost on any MOTORCYCLES out there, provided you know what to change etc.
Thanks for Lijo, Sandeep for what it takes.
@Chotu_r If I see the bike you are having the RE, then why don't you try sourcing the new RE 500 Thunderbird's projector setup, which more or less can be a direct fit, at least less than a 220s fairing, and you get the perks of the RE.
Cheers!

Mumbai highways are very dangerous. And from past 5-6 months the lifht emission is very very less from headlight. :/
I will take a pic today in night and try to show what I mean.
Wo I an go for 55W 6000k or 8000k without tension.
Isn't it ?
I'm one of those who wants proper lightning on road.
Coz in dark road when suddenly you spot a man running on road in urge to cross it, I get a heartattack.

Re: Let there be Light : Bike Lighting, HID etc
Hey bro, i have got it done recently on my hero impulse. Costed INR 2100 for the projector lens, 35w 8000k hid, slim ballast, wiring harness, fuse etc, and costed INR 300 for installation. Here is a pic by me:Originally posted by Arun Magus View PostHi all... I'm planning to do a projector+angel eye mod on my pulsar 200 NS as soon as it's electrical warranty gets over. I'd actually prefer something something as seen in the attachment. Please suggest some reliable projector set ups and the type of halogen bulb to be used. Budget is a concern and can be extended max upto 3500.
And this is the pic of the throw i get:
Well, honestly, the pics of light throw doesnt do any justice as these pics were taken in an open ground and no object to relate and show the distance, but the throw you see in the 2nd pic is approx 60-70 feet away. And yes, 1st pic is dipper and 2nd is upper.
Please let me know guys how are the pics, cuz my gf said the pics are not so good
.
And one more thing dude, do the mod when your battery is still in warranty, reason being god forbids if your battery dies which im sure will not happen with your p200ns as it has a 9ah battery, you dont even need any coil rewinding if you use a 35w hid, still you can just take the dead battery to the manufacturer and get it replaced for INR 50 as conveyance charge, just dont tell them about the hid
But if you get it done after the warranty finishes, you will be responsible for whatever happens to your battery. Even i thought i will do it after warranty is over but then i enquired few things and conclusions are stated above. Also, a piece of advice, dont let the mechanic/technician cut into stock wire cutting, rather ask him to put a seperate switch for the HID (only and only if the main headlight is not on DC, if it is on DC then no need of getting into stock wire cutting and seperate switch), but for the angel/devil thing, it will be on the parking light switch. Trust me bro, these lights are head turners. Need any further help, let me know.

1. 8000k is way cooler than 4300k, in short, higher the number, cooler it gets. so, 4300k is the hottest, thus giving it a yellow colour, and 12000k is the coolest giving it a purplish blue colour.Originally posted by Sird View PostHey Nice Find.

2. I dont think so, a friend of mine has converted his p180 into p220 (by just adding the fairing) and the stock bulb which he has put is hotter than my 8000k hid, but 2 years of use and still no cracks or any breakage.
3. If you have a projector, you dont need to play cowboy, they pull over only those who have hid without a projector and blind them.

here in mumbai, we find n number of p220 projectors, especially at a place known as chor bazaar for bikes and cars (CST Road, Kurla), thanks to many stupid and reckless riders who have a very powerful p220 but dont have the responsibility and skills to handle the powerOriginally posted by chotu_r View Post@Sird Seeing that you have a P220, does bajaj sell just the low beam projector & high beam reflector separately? Thanks a lot for the reply and bringing in the example of what your friend did on his P180.Originally posted by viks View Post1. 8000k is way cooler than 4300k, in short, higher the number, cooler it gets. so, 4300k is the hottest, thus giving it a yellow colour, and 12000k is the coolest giving it a purplish blue colour.

So I'm going for the 55W 8000k.
Ordering it.
If I don't find it good enough than I'll shift the pair to my Fazer and order 6000k for P220.

Re: Let there be Light : Bike Lighting, HID etc
But hey, make sure you get the slim ballast, cuz ballast makes a difference in the brightness. A friend of mine was using 8000K on his Fz with fat ballast and its brightness was very low, however, when he changed over to a slim ballast, the visibility is good even in rains and fog. And yeah, if its 55w, the brightness will be even better, but i guess you may need recoiling if you use 55w, not sure though.Originally posted by Sird View PostThanks a lot for the reply and bringing in the example of what your friend did on his P180.

Ballast :/
But 220's stock Bulb is 55W already.
So no need of recoiling and all I think.
