  • Confused between ZMR, ZMA-R, R15, P220, A180

Hey Guys..!!..You are all doing wonderful job. I just joined this amazing community and learnt so many things...!!..

Well coming to my query... I am going to buy a new bike in 2 months or so.

Right now I drive HH Passion which is 6 years old. Now really want an upgrade badly. I went to Shimla on my passion recently and came to know about the reality...!!....It was so embarrassing that I couldn't even overtake heavly loaded and barely moving trucks on hills...!!!...

I have searched already posted threads in this community and this topic must have been done to death.

But still I would want you guys to help me out. Here are my details/description.

    About me:

    Height: 5"6'
    Built average
    Weight: 62Kg
    Age: 27
Budget: 75-85K (Can stretch it to 95K if required)

    Now my requirements:
I would be driving daily about 20 KMs to office(up & Down both).
On weekend I would be driving about 50-60 Kms. Once in a month I would be driving on highways (plains) about 250 Kms. And once in 2-3 Months I would be driving on hills.

I want bike with good looks, comfort, reliability, handling, good for highway usage. FE is not much of a concern. Anything above 35 is OK for me.
Personally I like bikes with front fairing...!!

Now My assumptions or you can say knowledge about the options I have:

ZMR: Looks good. Handling, comfort and reliability of HH is there. But 91000 (chandigarh) seems to be too much for the features it offers (FI, rear disc, digi console etc.). And moreover not many ZMRs on the road. So a bit concerned that why people not buying this. And also dont know whether it would suit to my height and built. And I have heard waiting period is too much

ZMA-R: It seems VFM and a flagship model of HH. And also about 15-20K cheaper than ZMR. But it looks dated now. Too many karizmas on road and its like buying an old bike. And I heard that its FE is just about 25-30...!!

R15: Now this one looks stunning and I think its best suited for my height and built. And Its YAMAHA..!!..Technology is far superior. But at this time price seems to be out of my range. And I would also use my bike for highway/hills usage. So dont know how would it fare. And if I have to buy this then may have to wait for another 3-4 months (to save that extra money) But I really dont want to wait to get rid of my 100CC passion...!!
But guys do let me know if you think its best ( I might think to wait little more )

P220: This is indeed a VFM product. Awesome features at amazing price. But I am not much of a Bajaj fan. And there are hell lot of Pulsars, P220s on road now. And looks are like OK to me. Not very much exciting. And I have heard too many problems about pulsar..

A180: This one is also a nice option. Best acceleration among bikes in India. Superb low end torque. Great for City usage. But I would mostly be riding with pillion (most probably going to be married next year..!...)
So riding with Pillion would be an issue. And looks are also kind of OK not great..!

And guys do you have any idea about rumors about new bikes launch from Apache and Yamaha?..Any idea when they would be launched?..

So please advise me guys..!!...I hope I have provided you enough information. In case I have missed something please do let me know.

Oh boy u r spoiled for choices!!

      now coming to the topic:
      I think u missed Fazer,as u have mentioned u r fond of front fairing.
if u r not speed hungry(above 85 kmph) then it's the best bike u can go for.
comfortable, maintenance free kinda bike.wide tyres, good for climbing hills, never lose grp.enough trq.
its a good tourer as it's build around touring concept.more then good head lights to provide awsm lighting.compact heavy and reliable.go for it.

I would seriously advise you to use Google Chrome web browser.

It under-lines the sms language and shall be of immense help to the community, Thanks

don't you have the time to type torque instead of trq? think about it.

            Touring + City riding..

If you can live with low FE, I would suggest ZMA-R all the way..

If not it, definetely go for a P-220.
I have been using Pulsars for 8 years now and never felt any problem with the bike. P-220 is a great machine (It has been tried and tested) but yes, you have to get used to its ergonomics.

As suggested by someone, Fazer is reliable as it is a Yammie, but then, i dont wanna buy a 150 CC engine at a whopping cost of 80K.

Test ride everything on your list. And then shorten the list accordingly.

Personally, the R15 is best bike amongst them all. period.

But you want something that is comfortable and carry a pillion too.

That leaves P220, ZMA and ZMR from the list.
              And Fazer from outside it.

I have a ZMR and am fairly satisfied from it regarding comfort and long distance capabilities, not to mention pillion comfort. p220 is a bit of pain for the pillion. But that could be personal.

Fazer looks good, is better than all these in the city and is good as a tourer if you don't want to ride like a looney.

I will suggest fazer. But i suggest you test ride all before making the call.

                Now thats a grand confusion...

Better way to sort out is, ride all the bikes back to back.....for a good distance, zero in on any 2 or 3 and then ask for suggestions regarding issues, problems and availabilities etc...

                  Hi

Go for the ZMA - R

For the same price range of 80k, you can buy FAZER and ZMA R. Both are good machines.

Considering mileage both will have marginal difference only (check the mileage figre which you have given)

Interms of performance ZMA R will surely beat Fazer..Higher cc; power..Top end power band machine for better highway ride and ZMA is a better tourer than Fazer

Also decent looks. Dont count the numbers of it in roads, just select the one which satisfies your need..Its a proven and reliable brand product..
Its not about just vrooming the engine, sharp cuts, top speeds...A true biker should understand his machine

Wow! That is one huge confusion list. And people have added to it with the Fazer!!!

If you are planning to stay under 2500 metres altitude most of the time, go for the Zma if you are looking for comfort for you and pillion. If you are looking mostly for speed and relatively less comfort, go for the 220.

If you want the best handling bike, nothing even comes close to the R15.

The ZMR is just not worth its value in anything!
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

                        agree with Ken da
                        Fazer-Its too costly
as 5.6 height I would not recommend tall bikes.
go for Apache 180 awesome bike in hills as well as in city great handler and not expensive too.

Hey Buddy..thats pretty good news...The only reason for which I had put Fazer out of my list was its just 150CC and costs around 80K..I hope they come up with better engine. Otherwise It was my top choice earlier.
And Yes I do not belong to racer profiles. Anything around 85-95 kmph is good for me...
