As for your query.. ER-6n should be the obvious choice.. If in a hurry to buy.. Duc Monster 796 is the best bet..

Query: How much of a Stretch is a Bandit over a Monster? I am seriously starting to consider a Bandit for myself
    Warning : Approximate Figures

    Duc 796 - 9.17L OTR - 87 BHP
    Bandit - 9.5L OTR - 90 odd bhp

      Peak Power: 98 BHP @ 7500 RPM
      Peak Torque : 11kgm @ 3700RPM
      Weight: 250 KG
      Power:Weight ratio: 392 bhp/tonne
      Torque:Weight Ratio: 44 kgm/tonne
Top Speed: 150 mph (242 kmph)

      Ducati Moster 796: 9.17L OTR
      Peak Power: 87 BHP @ 8,250 RPM
      Peak Torque: 7.7kgm @ 6250 RPM
      Weight: 168 KG
      Power:Weight ratio: 518 bhp/tonne
      Torque:Weight Ratio: 46 kgm/tonne
      Top Speed: 135mph (217 kmph)

Do we have a winner? I guess we dont... The part that excites me is marked with a . (And I thought Ducatis had Low End Torque)

But what we are comparing here is like chalk and cheese..

Dont we get the Hypermotard 796 in India.. I really think It would be much more famous than the Monster 796 IMO.. Both of them are priced at $9995 so the India pricing should'nt be different either..

Have you seen the Ducati? Maybe I sound a little vain, but that (Monster's Looks) definitely tilts the scale in the Ducs favour for me. Plus its a Ducati. For me, there is a winner here.
ALso Bandit is liquid-cooled, take a look OF's thread "Superbike at Khardung La", the Duc will face less problems in conditions like those.

I strongly disagree with the bold part. How many ninja owners have thrashed underside of their bike while riding on road? I haven't heard of any and I know at least 6 of them in Pune. The person who initiated this thread has taken his ninja offroading for Amby - Tamhini stretch. It surely was not all comfy for him but he did not thrash underside of his bike.

I think this discussion is about Ninja & Hyosung and not about Leh rides.

Antz beta, jeete raho. If you read carefully the highlighted parts from the question posed by Jakrap, he needs a 500+cc bike for high speed touring and preferably the bike should be all purpose.

This topic is NOT about Leh rides.

Currently own a Ninja 250R which is being used for high speed touring and an Enfield Electra 5s for any other purpose.

Was looking for an allrounder bike (high speeds near 200 kmph and which could be used for offroading purposes when required, may be a trip to Ladakh)

Well, I dont want to get in the battle of what is a SBK and what is not, but this and the bandit are the only bikes in the country that can do speeds of around 200 and take a beating at the hills.

Have you actually done this before on those bikes?

Edit : I have ridden both these bikes so asking.

                          Nah, I havent.

But 850 cc to me sounds good enough for 200.
I know that there is hardly any protection on the Hyper and the wind blast will blow you off the bike, but still...
The question is "whether it can do 200 or not?", and not that "on which bike would you do 200?"

Dude, I have done more than 225 kmph on a street fighter bike so who says that the wind blast blows you off the bike? Have you thought about crouching?

Again, who says you need more than 400 cc to cross 200? I have done 180 kmph on my ninja 250r.

We are arguing about something for which this thread was NOT created. Jakrap wanted an opinion about preferring one of the two bikes suggested and not a discourse from everyone about all other bikes.

Autocar India said when they road-tested the Honda CBR-1000-R(naked) that 'When you cross 200, the wind blast becomes too much'

And the Hyper has even less protection, so the Wind blast got to be too much.

And back to topic, if I were you, I would take none of these bikes to that far up.

There is a difference between too much wind blast and getting blown out of bike due to wind blast.

How come this topic relates to you taking any of the bikes to that far up? When you mention that far up, you mean higher in speed or higher in altitude?

Edit : Just for info purpose, I have never heard about CBR 1000R naked bike. I would love to read this review. Can you help me out with this link? Thanks.
