Dont think they are stock bikes thou..Yeah the economic times mention them as 80bhp 650Rs..
In 2007 Hysoung 650Rs didnot produce 80bhp as far as the specs are concerned..
So think Hysoung prepped up the bikes for Sunny &Co. The 2010 model thou is 82bhp (data varies from sources).
BUt the bikes look terrifc. If they bring out that colour scheme..THen would close my eyes and buy it thou

all depends on pricing
The hyosung gt650r is gonna be one heavy bike. Handling, cornering will be sacrificed for better stability. Suspension is also so so i believe. With Ninja 650R, you will pay a little more but will get reliability, brand value, piece of mind and better service across more outlets. Finally it all boils down to the price. If the Ninja can keep its price close to the Hyosung, well i think it is going to win hands down.

Well have been thinking of a 500+cc bike for high speed touring purposes and since there is a limited option available in India at the moment except a VFR1200 which is undoubtedly unaffordable
. Currently own a Ninja 250R which is being used for high speed touring and an Enfield Electra 5s for any other purpose

Hrd the news that both Hyosung and Kawasaki are bringing their 650s into India which can be used for commuting/touring/wee bit of racing and moderate to complete offroading (without the fairings, ofcourse
).
Believe that these bikes can be used for a wider range of purposes namely commuting, touring, off-roading and may be a lil bit of racing
, than the supersports available.
Have been gathering some info on both bikes on the specs for that ultimate search of a powerful ALLROUNDER Bike
and this is what i got.
Ninja 650R produces 72bhp and Hyosung GT650R produces 82 (yes 82, 2009 model is 79).
Hyosung is priced USD 6200 and Ninja costs USD 7200 in USA whereas in UK its GBP 5200 and 5500 respectively.
ABS is an optional feature on the Ninja too. Comes for an extra USD 500/GBP 500.
The GT650 is a v-twin whereas the Ninja is a parallel twin. Since the price for both is not known, presume it would be in favor of Hyosung any day though the margin of favor would be known only later.
1) Since nothing stops like a KAWASAKI, the Hysoung brakes are a big question mark?
2) Am unable to find reliable 0-60,0-100 and quartermile times for the Hyosung but in bike forums ppl do say that performance figures of both the bikes are identical thou Hysoung enjoys a slighly higher top speed. How can the performance of a GT650R be identical to the Ninja650R when it produces an extra 10 (previously 7)ponies???
Infact the GT650R has a wet weight of 215 while the Ninja is a modest 205 kgs.Would that be a probable reason???
3) If the bike is faired, does the fairing just be removed to do offroading. Would there be a worry on the radiator fins getting damaged etc. How different would be the 650R/GT650R different from the ER6N/GT650 except for the fairings?
4) Also would the parallel twins give better mileage than the V-twins
You can expect a better build quality and performance with Ninja, on the other hand GT650R has more flaws. But it all depends on the price, if Ninja can provide competitive price tag to GT then it's all Ninja

The Hyosung GT650R 2009 model is greatly improved over the earlier models.For improved stopping it now has 4 pistons braking.Hyosung use to build engines for Japanese manufactures.

going to book a hyosung 6t650r
melroyal, congrats for booking the hyosung gt650r. I am sure you will enjoy riding it. I myself am caught between purchasing a hyosung gt650r or kawasaki ninja 650r. I have also thought about Ducati monster 796 but here in hyderabad, there are no dealers and i don't want to get into trouble with servicing spare parts etc. Also it costs around 10 lakhs on road.
I am damn sure Ninja 650R is going to be priced at least 50000Rs higher than hyosung. well, we will know in about 2 weeks. I sure like the look of hyosung gt650r better than the ninja 650r. also from the reviews i read, its got a better sound than the ninja. I am just worried about after sales service, support etc. Garware has not even opened a store yet in Hyderabad. I am gonna book the bike in bangalore
I wanted to know the seating comfort and posture in hyosung. It has a more aggressive riding position than ninja 650r and so should be less comfortable for commuting. have you checked it out? what are your opinions?
From what i read about hyosung gt 650r, some people abroad are complaining about poor braking, suspension and also lot of engine vibration/noise about 7000rpm. But overall they feel its best value for money. i will not book the bike until i do a thorough test ride of the bike

@ dharmana.I have visited the showroom at Mumbai and was impressed with the looks of the bike.When enquired with the salesman they informed that Kinetic motors was the reason to which the company backed out.
Earlier reviews,prior to the 2010 model braking was not optimal.But later the company added four piston braking to the dual 300mm disc brakes front,braking has dramatically improved.
I have spoken to GT250 Comet owners and they are they are glad with their bikes,only cause of worry were availbilty of spares.Some of them are on xbhp forum and are also upgrading to the GT650R bikes.Being a V-Twin there will be vibes but that is not a major concern as it will be a slight tingle on the handlebar and footpeg.I have had worst vibrations on the TVS Apache 150.
Sitting on the bike,I can say that the handlebar reach is easy and the wide seats are comfortable.I have revved the bike to 7,000rpm on neutral and past 6,500rpm there are slight vibes felt but that's it.
Go for the Ninja650 if you want a bike from a popular manufacture .There are also lesser vibes.You may also have to pay more for the bike though prices are unconfirmed now.
I like the GT650R because it had the supersport styling,sporty ergonomics,big bike feel and priced around 5.5Lacs on road was tempting.

hyosung gt650r power?
jakrap, you mentioned that 2010 hyosung gt650r produces 82 bhp... i checked garware motors website and it shows only 73 bhp. i'm wondering power has been restricted for India or if there are LAMS(Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme) regulations imposed on these bikes??
melroyal, i think i'm falling big time for hyosung gt650r now. since i haven't seen the bike yet up close, how did you feel about the overall quality of plastics, fittings and paint etc. also i believe its got the slightly heavier steel chasis instead of aluminium one. but since the additional weight is not unsprung weight i don't feel its going to affect the handling. overall i'm impressed with this bike now.
coming to brand value, hyundai which is another korean company used to make bucket cars earlier but now they are giving lexus and hondas a run for their money in terms of sales. so i feel korean companies are catching up with their japanese counterparts and its not going to be long before hyosung at the rate at which they are improving catches up with the big four i.e, kawasaki, honda, yamaha and suzuki.
